The original is not always better, although ultimately it's a matter of individual taste. The original song was made by Bruce Springsteen; Manfred Mann remade it completely differently, giving it a whole new sound and style. Record sales of the remake were huge and the public liked it much better than the original. This 'remake' ,'remix' or whatever you want to call it, is just lazy overdubbing of mindless percussion that doesn't add anything creative to the song.

My faves are Jimi Hendrix's remake of Bob Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower" and UB40's remake of Neil Diamond's "Red Red Wine". We happen to disagree on this particular remake, but I do respect your opinion. I guess it's the same as food--like anchovies on pizza, you can't say someone's wrong for liking what they taste/hear. :)
