lol ok people you all need to stop thinking it was sum big thing. if the police make a line and you go up to them and start yelling in there face you need to be arrested. police have no problem with protesters but if you noticed the one dude that did get arrested tryed taking apart the fence things there to keep them off the road. then went and got in the faces of police officers.
your all free to say what you want police are just there to stop you hurting people and people hurting you.
They could just simply protest but when the protesters start breaking laws and disobeying police orders and making fools of themselves like ths man who was arrested. Read the last paragrah in the video info box. Goverment might listen to people who are protesting in a sensible manner or who are willing to talk but when you get people like this man who was arrested the goverment/officals are going to have respect for them and quite rightly too
"I'm glad I live in a country where citizens can freely express their views and concerns" what are you talking about, from what you've shown here that is a total contradiction, or did you miss the part where the police drag that guy away?
And why is there a cut at 1:29? Did the cops hit the guy and you didn't want to show it?
I don't see any contradiction. Everyone present was free to express their views and concerns, which most were content to do from behind the barrier, very loudly, and some very rudely, I might add. The guy above foolishly decided it would be beneficial to all involved to do his protesting 2 inches in front of the officers' faces, which anyone would find offensive and a breach of their human rights. At 1:29 my camera memory card ran out, so I had to quickly put a new one in to continue filming...
Lol, the guy who got arrested, what a ___ing tool, and the guys defending him are even dumber. From what I see in this video, the guy is an attention seeking prat, with no respect for those who protect him and the reason he doesn't have to sleep with one eye open...
And the guys shouting "FTP", you guys don't realise how screwed up society would be without the police.
I think the police should implement a system similar to the diabetes bracelet, whereby the "FTP" types like yourself get a special tag or something to indicate that you hate cops. That way if you're ever in an accident or get attacked by other FTP types on the street, they know not to waste their time helping you. Since cops are so murderous, corrupt and evil, you'd obviously be better off being left to die.
But that system could never work, because unlike you, most cops care about our society.
Yep even though people hate cops and say so at ever chance they get , the cops still come along and save there sorry butts. Why because there proffessionals and will do the best they can, where they can, when they can.
That's it?? In America that guy yelling at the cops would have been beat to death. Then the cops would have come up with some lame story about how he beat his own head on the ground......
If it is your friend, send him my thanks, his antics made for some great footage, LOL! The heated exchange of rude comments has been really thought-provoking and entertaining too...
lol you must be in a different part of uk to me then, as i get three yes three different police walking, driving or riding bikes, the local police, british transport police and miltary police all pass my place at least once a day
they guys should think themselves lucky they aren't else where in the world, in the uk the guy with the barrier whould have been arrested the moment he touched the barrier a second time, in other places he could have got shot.
LOL your comment has given me the first laugh of the day, i'm not going to get into a war of worlds with you got more important things to do with my time, so you just stay in your own private little world,
I got this feeling that most of those police didn't want to be there AT ALL. While the storm was ripping the place apart and there was real work to be done, these cops had to waste time & taxes standing around in the rain and cold putting up with teenage behaviour from adults. I don't think they went home and thought, "Oh right, I'm not having a hot shower, I don't deserve it, I'm a waste of taxpayers money". They're not all perfect or 100% trustworthy, but comparing them to a gang is laughable.
ok I respect that no more swears but like I said if you felt so strong about your views why did you not confront the long haired weed smoking hippies why talk trash about them now to me thats cowards play.I was there and I didnt see protesters getting out of hand.I saw a cop grab a man in his late 50s around the throat and knock a lady to the ground and you think the cops were in the right "I was really impressed with the professionalism displayed by the police".I stand by my words your a coward
Now we're talking. There's a time & place for confrontation, and situations like the one above aren't it. Civil 1-on-1 discussions like this are more productive anyway. Sadly I missed the "police brutality" you saw, woulda been great footage! :P We all know that 99% of this "clash" was acting-up for the cameras, like soccer injuries or toddlers throwing tantrums at ToyWorld. But I had these discussions with the "hippies" at Uni. I remain unconvinced & we agreed to disagree. Perhaps so should we?
Oh, and I had to remove tutangclan's last comment for foul language. He said "thekiwicanuck doesn't care about the people _______ ____ talker". Come on people, some of my subscribers are barely teenagers. I will continue to delete any comments containing language that isn't "family friendly".
thekiwicanuck cares for "the people" at least as much as tutangclan and the protesters do, he just doesn't agree with the methods 5 or 6 protesters used to express their concerns... thekiwicanuck would rather have 100,000 people marching through Auckland peacefully than the few people you see here acting like drunks. But apparently tutangclan thinks the 5 or 6 people making Auckland a worse place to live are somehow going to make the world a better place to live. Two wrongs don't make a right...
Hey, I attended this demonstration, right through New Zealand's "storm of the decade", filmed it, and posted it on YouTube for everyone to see. What were you doing?
Thanks for proving my point skegy. Any headway you may have made in convincing me of your point of view has just evaporated. Now I have to remove your last comment for bad language.
hmmm. ..sorry skegy. Pushing over barriers and standing in the middle of the road shouting obsenities(or just shouting) not "standing up for your right". But dont have a problem with peaceful protesters though. there lucky our Police are so tolerant!!
I was just thinking, most of the people who stick their necks out at protests are the "hippie stereotypes" mentioned earlier. Medical professionals have recently discovered that those who smoke a particular alternative to tobacco are much more likely than the average person to develop mental problems such as paranoia. It's all starting to make sense now. Have a bad attitude, defy authority, grow some dreads, smoke too much salad, get paranoid, run around the streets screaming at Condi Rice. LOL!
you are full of yourself one of the ladies at the protest was a vegan that doesnt smoke anything and is a doctor with a doctrine in social science what do you have a PHD in talking trash
Which is why I said "most of the people who stick their necks out". Most of the people present were "normal" concerned citizens. I don't have a problem with them...
I was really impressed with the professionalism displayed by the police. I'm sure some of them dearly wanted to do a bit of baton practice, like we see happening overseas, but there's no point lowering yourself to the same level. Now, if those protesters showed the same professionalism, perhaps they'd accomplish more. Show some respect - and some self-respect - and people will naturally respect you back. Be unpleasant, and you'll get nowhere. Its simple psychology. I thought they were students?!
There were heaps of people of all kinds there peacefully standing up for their rights, which is good to see, but the only ones you see here getting up in the cops faces were the long-haired, left-wing, stoner, hippie stereotypes. I shouldn't need to explain myself...
Besides, I only wrote "hippies" because I couldn't fit "protesters" in the title bar, only so many characters allowed...
Kicinich and others in America are making headway in impeaching Bush this will be successful. So people like Rice will face many years in a prison cell. What then I ask what then for you people??

How the police pay you back for the taxes that feed their families.
Using classic gang intimidation tactics. They've got the patch, they've got the violence, the only thing they haven't got is the identity.
