  • ...for what purpose are our boys being killed.....? dame vera is the best

  • does anyone here remember vera lynn?

  • The White Cliffs of Dover, my favorite song

  • What a great pity that she gave up singing in 1995. She's clearly still got the voice, it just needs a little "oiling" to get going again. I guess music is something she feels she no longer needs in her life. Glad she's enjoying her retirement, anyway. She deserves it after the many years of pleasure she's given to millions of people all around the world!

  • @disremembrance "She's clearly still got the voice, it just needs a little "oiling" to get going again" My thoughts exactly, what an excellent lady.

  • NO MATTER WHAT OF THE DISLIKES ... WE DON'T CARE FOR THEM ONLY MATTERS WE ARE VERY PROUD OF OUR VERA LYNN ! RESPECT ALWAYS

BLESS SWEETHEART THE BOYS MISS YOU

  • WHEN I HEAR HER SING I MISS MY MUM ..BEAUTIFUL SMILE BEAUTIFUL LADY . AND FOR THE ONES THAT DISLIKED ! YOU ARE I GUESS NOT ENGLISH AND WOULD NEVER UNDERSTAND OUR TIMES ......

SO BLESS MY DARLING Dame Vera Lynn !

  • Is she 92 there?

  • @frikadellur HI ..YES SHE IS 92 YEARS OLD HERE JUST LOVELY

    BEAUTIFUL LADY ...

  • STUPID ADS yes i want to skp you

  • What a star,God Bless Vera Lynn. She sounds wonderful!

  • @firglenchainsaws Very beautiful for a ninty year old woman, and vivacious as well.

  • I bloody love her, what a sweetheart

  • What a beautiful consciousness.... having an "experience".... Good speed.

  • what a lovely lady she has a warm voice ,shall never forget her !

  • Wonderful old Lady, from a fantastic generation.I wish there could be music like that in these heartles days. My god bless her!

  • My God.....could she be any more beautiful? I got completely choked up in that last twenty seconds. Bless her.

  • The interviewer is a very hot-looking homosexual!

  • Great!

  • ugh, when she sang at the end thats was amazing.

  • She just made me cry when she sung that at the end. What a woman

  • What a beautiful woman Vera is and what a lovely voice she has. I admire her so much and to think after all these years she is still a real trooper and can still sing. Oh how I would love to spend an afternoon with her as I am sure she can tell some amazing stories.

  • I LOVE Vera Lynn and tears roll down my cheeks every time I hear her sing "We'll Meet Again". I loved it when it was Terry Wogan's (?) theme song when my family lived in Scotland in 1980-81... a glorious time! I've bought her CDs but can't make this video play for me and I want so badly to see it! I've known of her all my life after being born during the war, in 1943. What a voice and beautiful lady!

  • @DizzyCaj me too. I love her voice. That song is probably my favourite and 'land of hope and glory'. She is probably my 3rd favourite singer. I'm only 19, but all my favourites are from years ago, first is Petula Clark (or Agnetha Faltskog), Doris Day and then Vera. Her music is so special. I love that she is still alive too. That is truly special. It is nice because she can see how her music still is loved today and she is still charting. She is very lively at her age too!

  • @DizzyCaj what I mean by 'Lively', is that she has such a happy appearance (recent interview too from about last year), dresses very elegant, smiles non stop and responds fine. You think for someone in her 90's to have something wrong, but she sounds about 30 and I'm not joking. Her speaking voice sounds like her singing voice from when she used to sing in the 40's. If that makes sense. Not a woman's voice in her 90's. It is amazing. She is also very fresh faced and well groomed :)

  • Everytime I hear this song i'm filled with emotion and it always sticks in my head as the song that means most to me in this world. I cry everytime. What a remarkable lady!

  • Great.

  • "Does anybody here remember Vera Lynn?" - Who would have thought, Roger Waters is dead but Vera Lynn is very much alive!

  • @ItalianoConfuso You are very much mistaken, Richard Wright is the dead Pink Floyd member. You might also be thinking about Syd Barrett, who started the band, but unfortunately went mental after a couple of years.

  • @damianocunego7 Good god i wrote Roger Waters! Sorry Roger, i meant Richard! Hope i'm not bringing him bad luck

  • If ever a true Brit deserves a sainthood it's dear Vera, she did more for morale for

"English Speaking Peoples" world wide...we owe her our deepest respect always.

  • Dame Vera Lynn never ceases to amaze me. I'm guessing this would have been 2009 as that would have been the 70th Anniversary & she would have been 92. A truly amazing person with a remarkable voice.

  • When Dame Vera sings those few lines at the end it's real lump in the throat time, an absolutely amazing lady

  • There's nothing more British than Vera Lynn and her incredibly sweet voice. She always makes me feel proud of my homeland England.

  • vera is the ww pin up and kept all our boys heads high..who do the boys have now??????? well done vera love from a mother of a son now in afghan!! you are treasured!!!! xx

  • Wow! What a lady. So gracious, almost a queen to me.

  • @flacosfan deefinatley more royal in ways and word for her fellow man xxx

  • I love Vera Lynn

  • Her voice has aged well. I even like the aged quality of her voice now. Character it has.

  • what a lady!

  • The forces mattress.

  • She really do has a nice voice still and she is 92. She is remarkable

  • What a sweet, gracious lady she is.

  • Pink Floyd made a song about her .

  • Who was that mister Bubbles she used to sing about?

  • @MediaHoax I wonder if she harvested ADAM from any of them.

  • @schmagum a very great song

  • Your biggest fans in Lancashire x hope you read this x

  • I'm amazed at age of 91 she sings this song far better and more sweetly than anyone I've ever heard imitating her, can't be done , wot a wonderful lady , so glad she started singing. Your fans are waiting for a full concert with love x x x she looks fit 2 love her why put up with all these pretenders just sing dame Vera love you x

  • Classy and beautiful and smart- Right on Vera- she says it is so sad- every war is supposed to be the end to all wars- the one that is going to be the last one- well guess what, the NWO will have us turning each other in to corpses for their profit from now until eternity unless we say NO.. Thank you Vera for providing such hope and beauty to the world during a dark time in history , your helping of spirits made many lives richer!

  • When people use the term "Star" nowadays they pale into insignificance against the likes of Vera Lynn.

  • When people use the term "Star" nowadays they pale into insignificance against yhe likes of Vera Lynn.

  • @Rightpoppet Don't feel sorry for "fannypenis" . With such a disgusting pen-name it's obvious that "he" has no patriotism or has had to exert "himself" . He would have been good fodder for Hitler's gas chambers.

  • What a wonderful Lady - thank you so much.

  • that is class.... nothing more to be said ... and i'm a yank

  • Vera! Vera! What has become of you?

  • The greatest voice - ever. Oh, if I could have lived through that time in England and lived through the adoration of her.

  • When was this interview done? In 2009? She has a pleasant speaking voice, certainly not all East End mumbly...

  • holy crap 92 and she still sounds great when she sings

  • What a wonderful lady — in every sense of the word. Brava.

  • God Bless Her.

  • Beautiful! I dearly love Vera Lynn!

  • Utterly respect

  • I Hope Dame Vera is well looked after, She is a living legend and sadly this world we live in is fast running out of them. In saying that she looks and sounds very good for her age and i'm sure she will be with us for many years to come, I'm glad that our boys who sailed 12,000 miles from New Zealand to do their bit during the European war had such a sweet voice to help them throughout their campaigns, I'm sure the boys who fought in the Pacific theatre listened to her as well.

  • I came to this video as a result of meeting Dame Vera today, and she is just as nice in real life as she seems in this interview. She was guest of honour at a 1940s day in Sussex, close to where she lives. She talked to nearly everyone there, posed for photos and was generally warm and friendly. There were quite a few people, and it can't have been easy at her age even though she is clearly in good health, but she did it anyway, and all with a smile on her face.

  • wow its amazing how she talk like if she was 20

  • Dame Vera Rocks !!

  • Look on the other they reviewed, "X factor" "Kelly" "katie" GOD DAMN, spoiled brats, Vera is the example of an REAL woman

  • i met her today she put her arm around me, i met her at tangmere aviation centre she was truly lovely. xxxxx

  • what a wonderful woman.

  • ISn't she lovely!

  • god bless her.

  • One word "Wow!"... Bless her soul...

  • What a treasure she is!

  • Wow... 92 and that warm, wonderful, emotional voice still caused me to tear up. What a special, special lady.

  • No dumb comments please but she is looking good / energetic for a lady of her age

  • Such a wonderful performer.

  • Amazing. I had no idea she was still alive. God bless her.

  • true, such like you, always true :) God bless Vera Lynn

  • Oh yeah, she's still a sweetheart!

  • Blessed be that day when those boys voted you to be their Forces Sweetheart. Little did they know that another golden page in History was about to start being written, your page. I love you.

  • My dear Vera, I cannot describe all these overwhelming emotions of seeing and listening to you after all these years in different periods of time. Although you've aged, you did it so well for you look exactly the same to me. I knew you then as I know you now in another time, another place..

  • WOW!

  • May God Bless Vera Lynn.A wonderful woman.

  • I learned to sing listening to her. Such astounding natural techinical ability - her voice is like a silver bell. Thank you Vera.

  • i love vera lynn (L)

  • As a Yank, I have this to say about your "Dame Very Lynn":

    Thank you, Britain!

  • @DanielAllenButler its vera

  • what a doll...

  • What an amazing lady.

  • My departed mother loved Vera Lynn. Vera gave hope to the suffering, and optimism in the face of horror. "Blessed is he who overcomes, and I will give him a crown."

  • She is an amazing woman. God Bless Her!

  • Andrew Castle was nearly in tears at the end of this clip. So was i when i saw this, my dad had died only weeks before me watching this. The words are very powerful

  • THAT is a lady. I believe her to be one of the ten best singers I have ever heard.

  • Always loved her!

  • Wonderful interview apart from the blow-dried moussed unbuttoned shirt "look-at-me" twat interviewer. Vera is a class act, remarkable pipes - happy birthday!

Every war has its generation of youth who are willing to do their duty, going in with the feeling of youthful invinceability. To say there's a "greatest generation" is rubbish. Every generation has their day in the sun. Circumstances dictate if they get that day.

  • LOVE HER, LOVE HER, LOVE HER!!!!

Thanks for posting this interview, we never saw it here in the US. Can't believe she's 93 either. Sharp as a tack and still has "that voice". Lovely! :)

  • Happy Birthday Vera!!! 3-20-2010

  • that was wonderful

  • What an amazing woman! A true National treasure....

  • Thank you for sharing this.

If I saw her walking down the street I would never have guessed her to be 93. More like maybe 73. And she still has an amazing singing voice.

    God bless her.

I am in my 40's and the songs and music of WWII is my favorite. I listen to The 40's on 4 on XM Radio. Will always be the greatest music.

  • My God, she looks good for 93!!!

  • @trekkspillmann you should have seen her in her prime yawoza yawoza

  • No one beyond her, no one beside her, ever.

  • @KnockelII Patsy Cline comes mighty close.

  • She is absolutley lovely! Thank you Dame Vera for offering a spot of happiness to my Dad and his brothers during the war. Not to mention the hope you gave to those people at home.

  • Thanks for verification. I agree that she is an amazing woman, singer, person of historical note!

    Thanks Again

  • I can not find any documentation of her death.

  • @Calthom because she isnt bloody dead you idiot!

  • @billoakesattablthree Get your facts straight, the woman is very much alive and well, living in Ditching, East Sussex in England.

  • Vera has born in East Ham & has a natural London accent

  • I also was surprised that she has such a grammar school accent. Expected her to speak with a more posh accent.

  • @bill1745 How do u define a 'grammer school' accent?

  • Somehow I hadn't expected her to have such a strong London accent. Dunno why.

  • She´s great!

    What a voice!

and her song 'We´ll meet again' always

    makes me feel stronger :D

  • Fantastic. Good bless you, Dame Vera.

  • She bearly looks 80 that's for sure.

It's great to see someone that with it at 92.

  • I think Andrew had a lump in his throat at the end of the clip after hearing her sing :)

  • @sweetpeamy As did I!

  • @sweetpeamy Well, it certainly made *my* eyes...water.

  • @sweetpeamy i know i did...

  • aw she sounds lovely <3xx

  • I could've mistaken her for 65 atleast

  • oh my gosh she still has such a warm voice after 92 years!

  • I love this woman ! Hearing her voice never fails to make me tearful... and I'm not even British !

  • What a treasure. Bless you and thank you Dame Vera Lynn.

  • She's 92 andt sounds 60 - very sexy for an elderly lady.

  • YOU ´RE LIKE A DIAMOND

  • lovely lady

  • Comment removed

  • that was terrific - She still had lovely voice

  • More than anything I would like to be able to give her a big hug and a kiss and tell her that she is so beloved by so many people all over the world. Dame Vera, you are one very classy lady!

  • Dame Vera, you are a beautiful person! My Grandad loved you! You are a Sweetheart and Love to you!

  • It brings a tear to the eye. Dame Vera Lynn is testimony to the dignity of yesterday. What an incredibly remarkable Lady. Thank you for posting or sharing this on YouTube.

  • See if any of todays rambling scandal-makers with their wriggling and barely dresses plastic bodies and hideous music will sustain as long as Dame Vera Lynn. Never! This grand dame really is the real deal and young people today could learn so much from her and her whole generation.

  • What a lucky man that reporter was!!

  • wow vera my grandma n grandad loved you and my grandads still alive he was 89 yesterday....looks like ur both still goin strong. best wishes....

  • Hi Vera still looking cute. love from Norway

  • i cried too

  • she made me cry, she's such a wonderful woman

  • Some lives are just remarkable and some people really leave their footprints in their time on earth. This sweet, beautiful and energetic woman would be such a person. I will get her book so as to know more about her.

  • Wow- yep still beautiful and totally lucid. id turn into a blubbering mess if she sang to me like that. She still has an amazing voice. x

  • She's still beautiful and her voice is amazing!

  • great but who's "joe blogs heroes original" ??

  • That reporter is a lucky b*stard; I'd be honoured to be in his place during that interview!

Dame Vera Lynn - topping the charts without resorting to: Nudity, dope, porn and what have you - that shows the quality of her song and of the lady herself! *deep bow*

  • A great woman , and what a fitting salute from her country that she should top the album charts above the Beatles,

Her voice still resonates the quality that has made her into a enduring star the last 70 years, What a privileded man that reporter is, to have her sing especially for him , There are old soldiers all around the commonwealth and beyond , who would give anything for that opportunity,

A matured elegant woman with a warm smile and a sharp mind.

  • Wow, what an honour that would be, to have Vera Lynn personally sing right there in front of you. That interviewer was so lucky. And Vera still has a great voice. Wow.

  • I think he had a tear in his eye...

  • She actually says - "For what purpose are our boys being killed?" She is a class act all the way.

  • She looks younger than her age. I'd have guessed her for mid-70s instead of 92.

  • her voice is still good.

  • A beautiful smile at the end which reveals her genuine inner warmth which she still continues to radiate!

  • She's so beautiful!!! She looks about 70 actually!

  • A fine woman

  • still has a good voice.. shes great!

  • Wonderful!!!

  • It is heart warming to hear Dame Vera Lynn singing in my life time. You can still hear the beautiy in her voice even though it is fading. And jolly good show on getting to number 1 in the charts you deserve every sale the songs are beautiful both in the lyrics and the singing. Love the music and what a wonderful lady Thanks for posting.

  • Congratulations to a great artiste and a wonderful lady!

  • Well done!Dame Vera for being number 1! i read that you thought it was nostalgia. I dont think so people have lost their national identity during labours 12 year destruction of our values and culture they are looking back at a time when we were proud of being British you and the Queen epitomise those lost values. You fought for our freedom and it looks like we will have to do it again, this time from within? Your lovely songs Great voice and diction are leading us once again. God bless you x

  • you my friend are spot on ,i feel exactly the same

    labours ruined this country

  • Best preserved vocal chords I've ever heard too, tell us your secret Vera. What a wonderful lady, I'm delighted for her and I've posted a tribute Vera Lynn-White Cliffs of Dover, singing and playing my harp

    Love Ruby Paul
