  • Hi CassetteMaster :), not sure if you saw my videos recently but I have two of these units and they both work. These are a classic with awsome sound and even cosmetically they are in good shape too. The one has a slightly broken handle but works well. The other one has a slight problem on FM mode where it shuts off but the tape section and AM work well. Even the recchargable battery on the 2nd unit has some life left in it which is very suprising for its age.

  • looks like one I had in 1973 that was my only entertainment in my furnished room in Boston, MA.......I taped many shows from WBCN and also Larry Glick show from WBZ......I wish I had the tapes still......these babies gave so much pleasure to many of us that are now in our 40's and 50's.....these machines meant a lot

  • Mr Casette Master, I think I've deciphered the General Electric electronics date code. The decade is your guess. We both know that unit is from the '80's I believe that is 1984. The second character is the year.

  • That built in rechargeable battery is a great idea...until it dies and / or leaks inside the radio. Still looks like a very nice unit with a lot of features and good sound. I don't ever recall seeing one like it.

  • i have one similar to this the 3-5207 a

  • i think i had this as a kid. i loved it. i recorded hours of myself talking into it. this was my first Radio.

  • can you put the spanish station

  • Thanks for your reply. I can see it in a garage or workshop.

  • I've seen that external mic in a couple of your vids. It looks like the mic included with the Sony 105. I'm just curious if I'm right..I like your vids.

  • It is the same type that comes with the Sony TC-105A.

  • What a fucken beast. Does it have anti hiss?

  • It doesn't have noise reduction but it does have bass and treble controls.

  • It looks similar to a Saisho RTR-950 that I had when I was 10, especially the speakers. It was quite something to listen to Radio Moscow Science Hour at bedtime, happy memories!

  • I had one exactly like this. It was a great radio and cassette recorder. The unit has a built in rechargable battery that will let you run it without putting extra batteries in. I am not sure where the built in battery is cause I've had mine apart to repair the tape mechanics and wiring and speakers. I've not seen anymore models of any brand or kind that had this built in rechargable battery for portable usage. If you know of any others of this that might be floating around, tell me :).

  • In the late 90s,, all the detail seem to have left electronics and appliances !

  • you should be on QVC!

  • I love cassettes! Thank you for documenting this wonderful GE machine!

  • Copy down "A Classic '80s General Electric 3-5247A radio-cassette recorder.

  • Yeah! I can picture this on top of an old dirty tool chest in a car repair shop. Good unit.

  • Very much like a player us guys from school used to take away camping! Hmm, great memories and great GE machines!

  • Another great General Electric!

  • oh yeah! forgot to mention i'm assuming itz from 1983, but the way itz numbered i can't be too sure.

  • awesome radio! i had one like that before, but it didn't work too great so i chucked it out.

  • Sounds really good for DC Bias, must have some good quality heads in it.

  • I like the way it looks and sounds

  • Thats not bad for a DC Bias recorder, i'm amazed!! It sounds like its got nice speaker. These videos are really swsome!!!
