@TheBackOfTheBoat haha thats hella funny dude. but take note, although he love LOTR he washes his ass and works out REGULARLY, can you say you do that? If you look as hot as this man, you can love cards, chess, LOTR, star wars, anime, manga and science and you'd still get ass. It's mostly about the looks my friend, and the swagger.
FAVORITE movies. Someone asks me my favorite movie[s], I tell them Clue and The Philadelphia Story. I'm sure these people know the difference between favorite movie and cinematic masterpieces. Though, TPS is pretty fantastic. And there's certainly nothing wrong with Princess Bride.
I can understand EVERYONE has thier own opinion about Peter Jackson's adaptation of Tolkien's work. But to say that he wasnt a fan and was JUST in it for personal gain I think is rubbish. The work Jackson put into that films is incredible. Just watch it! To make a movie that gorgeous and great and epic?....Well i could definately see the passion....since LOTRs came out name ONE movie that was at its caliber of excellence. I can't think of one. Movies like that are made with love and dedication.
It was a brilliant movie, but I had a couple of problems with it. 1, where was Tom bombidil? and 2, I think Sam and Frodo were far too into each other.
Jackson thought putting tom bombadil in a theatrical film singing his rhymes would defeat the cinematic urgency of the tension they were trying to build up in the first half of the film. So he took him out. I agree with him
Sam and Frodo weren't nearly as into each other as they were in the books. You remember Sam's speech about how "two-sided" he is? he couldn't decide whether or not to live with his new wife or to live with Frodo, he wanted both.Talk about sexual confusion.
they are cool for picking movies they actually LIKE instead of just saying what they think makes them look sophisticated like Citizen Kane or something. And don't be afraid of your geekiness. It may be more recent but the LOTR trilogy screams MASTERPIECE. Peter Jackson is God.
@CyberPunkStefan didn't say it wasn't a great film. And there's nothing wrong with picking it, if it's really your favorite film. Just saying it's cool to not be afraid to throw out less conventional choices that you really like.
@Tigerlily21 agree! That he's cool for picking his ACTUAL favorite, that is. God I hate when all these actors go on about Godfather, Casablance etc just for the sake of it. They are brilliant movies, but not necessarily ones with which you develop this personal relationship that makes it your 'favorite movie'. I think mine would be The Ninth Gate or L.A. Confidential maybe.
Has he even read Tolkien's books? If you read them you'll see that they, and not Peter Jackson's poor adaptations are the real feat. Tolkien created another universe, new languages, peoples, forms of writing, flora and fauna. Jackson just thought he was better than Tolkien and butchered his work for his own gain.
How does liking Lord of the Rings make you a "geek"? Well I guess if you spend your time "encapsulated" with a poor movie trilogy you are. This guy's exceedingly thick.
I can't believe so many people are talking shit about Peter Jackson's incredible direction of LOTR. Do people not see how well he pulled off filming those three films at once and bringing Middle Earth to life. No it's the same condescending jerks who just like to say "the book was better" and diss everything popular to stroke their own egos. Jackson's direction was better than anyone today would have done.
If those were the metrics of a great movie then Titanic would be the best movie of all time, but it wasn't, by a long shot. Even its casting was questionable. Ok, so maybe I drank a little wine that night, it's wasn't shit. But it's definitely overrated. Jackson's King Kong was much better for example. Better score, more solid film all round. Most fans of the book were disappointed from what I hear. Yeah the book is always better, but ultimately the film didn't quite have that je ne sais quoi.
Peter Jackson's LOTR direction was GENIUS. Pure and simple. If you actually deny this, you know nothing about moviemaking because anyone can tell you what a great job he did bringing those stories to the screen. That seemed like an impossible feat. Stop hating it just because it was so popular.
Well LOTR had some trashy editing, slow motions and close up wide angle shots, but overall it was really good. And it got way less trashy as it went on. But the most of the first film is still cringeworthy.
Wow he looks like Superman but...he looks only an inch taller thn that woman. I read he's only 6 ft 1, inches tall. And the other guy rumored to play Batman is 6 ft 5!! S***!
Lord of the Rings and The Princess Bride are good films but there mediocre choices for favorite films.I wonder if Paris Hilton would have said Mean Girls or White Chicks something braindead like that.
those two aren't dating aren't they??? cuz if she is; I'm gonna flatten her like roadkill!!!!!

If someone says their favourite movie is Citizen Kane why assume that they are being pretentious?
And if someone says they didn't like the LOTR trilogy why assume they are afraid of looking geeky?
PS I hated the LOTR trilogy. Sorry...
