I played bass for Bobby Parker, and when I first auditioned I was so mesmerized by his singing and playing, I couldn’t concentrate on what I was supposed to be playing. It’s a wonder I got the job! I owe that man so much. I have truly learned at the knee of a master!

I love Bobby Parker. Favorite song is Shine Me Up. I had the privilege of meeting Mr. Parker when he performed at a blues festival in the Tampa Bay area. Ricky Lions knew how crazy I was about Bobby and made my day by bringing him by the tent where I was working as a volunteer so I could meet him. That was special.

No doubt Bobby Parker is one of the greats. With his vocals and guitar work, fused with gobs of soul, his sound is one to be reckoned with. His tenacity and commitment has to be admired.

I bought "Shine Me Up" on a lark based on a small Guitar Player Magazine article back in the late 1990's and I still play it to this day. Simply amazing guitar player and singer. And how about that hair?
