I've handled a few different kinds of AK rifles, but I have to say that my favorite is the century arms model 1960 with the milled receiver. The action is so crisp and you can just feel the quality. I've had one for a few months and must have shot 2500 to 3000 rounds through it. Never has it failed to feed or eject.

I didn't wear anything the first shot I fired from it and my left ear rang for the rest of the day and then randomly the next day. My cousin was fine standing about 10 feet away just using his hands to cover his ears.

@ChallengerGuy22 Obviously, yes you can hit a man-sized target at about 700 yards with an M-16 variant, but that's not going to matter because the 5.56 NATO round doesn't fragment in a body beyond 100 yards from a 20 inch barrel. Combat veterans will tell you that the 5.56 round is too narrow to create enough crush and/or tear to be decently effective beyond 100 yards. Several have personally told me of their experience of sometimes having to put half a mag into a guy before he'll go down.

@ChallengerGuy22 The 16 is 2.5 times more accurate- a good AK can hit a man at 300 yards; a good M-16 variant can hit a man at 750 yards. The M-16s do have good knock-down power within 100 yards, but any farther than that and the projectile isn't moving fast enough to tumble. This is why the Afghans called the 5.45x39mm round the poison round- they don't usually kill you when they hit you; you bleed out or die of infection later. The 5.45x39mm and 5.56 NATO rounds are very similar.

@ikantspeell Well, the longest range I can find is only 125 yards long and the silhouette of a water bottle at that range resembles the size of the silhouette of a human at like 500 yards. And you may be able to hit someone at 500 yards with your M-16, but that tiny 5.56x45mm projectile isn't going to take them out of the fight at that range unless you hit them in the head or the heart. The fragmentation/tumbling range of the 5.56x45mm round fired from a 20 inch barrel is only about 100 yards.

@patriot91101rip I hear it's good for Russian guns, but not for guns with tighter tolerences(ARs). I use Brown Bear for my AKs and PMC for my ARs, Sig-556, and Beretta 92fs. By doing this, thoroughly cleaning my guns with Hoppes #9 bore solvent and a soft wire bore brush, and keeping them well lubricated with 3-in-1 oil, I get excellent accuracy and no jams. Experienced shooters that I've talked to tell me that they would just rather not use Brown Bear in their ARs- better safe than sorry.

But last time I was in Afghanistan, I never needed to worry about engaging the enemy from more than 200 meters away so it really doesn't matter. I prefer the M16 cause of its accuracy and reloading but I had to clean the shit out of it everyday cause of dust and sand grit gets in everywhere. I like the AK cause of its firepower and high reliability.

WELL, If you knew anything about firearms and ballistics, you would obviously know that it is the rifles barrel quality and many other variables. Although some cartridges are more capable of better accuracy, it isn't the primary reason why that rifle is inaccurate. It's moslty in the quality of the barrel, matching the bullets overall length to twist rate helps out a bit too ;)

One of the main reasons these guns are unaccurate is because they fire a bigger round and are made of sheet steel. The milled ak47s are a bit more accurate the the AKM 47's with the stamped parts. Also the bolt on this gun is a heavy and jerks the gun to the right when fired. notice how the ruskies put the slant compensator so that the gasses would push the gun to the left to help out with that problem. Also the sights suck, but i have hit posts with an ak at 350-400 yards pretty easy.

Well I have been reading comments like this allot...the aks bolt is a hunk of metal that violently pushed back and forth, this is bad for the accuracy but is excellent for the reliability because it slams shut and the sliders aren't affected by dirt getting in the way.
