Oh god I remember when this happened during my freshman year of high school. We were on the 3rd floor and had to go all the way down to the basement. Me and my friends were so freaked out :/ we live in Missouri and the Joplin tornado had happened not even a week before. Even the teachers were scared... But we got outta class the whole period :D

man I was actually caught in the middle of a possible dangerous tornado situation when i lived in TX in the middle of school I used to hate the drills because they actually told you to stick you head in between your knees and head facing the wall and up against it of course I felt that that would not protect me enough so i felt vulnerable to anything that would come my way it was as bad and yeah I was a kid that time so you guessed it I was crying like a bitch LOL!!!

I remember my first derecho (or winds to the scale of a minor tornado) at school. We had winds of 115 MPH gusts to 140 MPH During a Severe Thunderstorm, i was at band camp (this last summer august 2010), and we have a newly rebuilt school, so we stop playing look outside. All we hear is rain and thunder and see lightning, it was pitch black at 2pm. We get outside, trees down, shingles ripped off roofs and branches and leaves everywhere. Were like WTF did we miss?!?! This was in Wisconsin.

Wow, power going out and everything? That's intense! My only school tornado warning was kind of a fiasco. No one heard the siren except the marching band outside practicing, and they kept practicing until the end of period anyway! The teacher told the principal about the siren when they went inside, and only THEN did the school acknowledge the warning and send us all into the hallways to take cover. But by then the warning was lifted! Good thing the real storm wasn't near us! I mean, WTF?

North Grayslake High. 2:53 a tornado warning was issued. 3:01 outdoor warning systems (sirens) kicked on. 3:02 Class is sent to various supply closets for shelter. 3:14 Heard a noise like metal hitting rock and a very loud wind. 3:20 tornado is over and classes proceed. 3:21 i go to my next class to find that it was destroyed by a tornado! 3:22 got the fact in my head and did a happy dance!

I had this in 6th grade and it hit the west wing of our school and like we lost the advanced meteorologic lab (what a coincidence!) and a few extra classrooms. They shoved us in the basement and like everyone was screaming and you could hear it rip out everything, it sounded like a freight train was crashing into an aeroplane. It was insane.
