I can remember losing an apartment in a fire, and someone was killed. It's devastating and very stressful to have your life suddenly upended like that. Not surprising some people still have PTSD from this.
I was driving to pick up my girlfriend, who is now my wife, in Big Bay Point on that day. I remember it very well. It was the worst weather I have ever seen. Such a scary situation. I couldn't see two feet in front of my car. The rain was so intense. Still unbelievable even today. My heart goes out to those who lost loved ones.
I was 10 years old...It affected me like nothing else since. I can't imagine the hell those more directly affected went through. I still don't like wind.
I was born in Orillia the day this happened. Thank God my parents were further north or I probably wouldn't be here. And yes, the big quarter century anniversary is coming, I feel old...
the tornado started just outside of my parents house on crawford street, if it wasnt for there flat roof house, it would have been destroyed more then it already has been... its just all luck :)
I was 16 when this happened. We lived in Mississauga and had a trailer at a campsite between Shelbourne and Dundalk owned by Bill and Betty Livingston, their house was ripped in half, most of the site was ok, some experienced trees flying and landing on their places.
I will NEVER forget going through Tottenham, and seeing the dead farm animals everywhere, the destruction was unbelievable.
I cant believe we are coming up on the 24th anniversary. Seems like yesterday... wow
did this tornado happen all over barrie or just in acouple parts of barrie?

@88Hellrazr I think it was 8 in Barrie. There were additional deaths in nearby towns (Grand Valley was one town with a fatality that was mentioned).

Wow look how old those tvs from 1985 look now!
But about the vid. Very sad. I can't believe some of the people the very same time that it all happened are saying they would stay.
So sad. It's like a horror.
