hey..... errr see i wanna buy either a mystery snail, or an apple snail. but the thing is i have a live planted fish tank and i am afraid that they will eat up all of my live plants!!!!
@molopi123 Don't worry, mystery snails prefer dead/rotting plants. They're bottom-feeders, so as long as you feed them the food they DO prefer- they won't eat live plants. They only do that as a last resort. Sometimes they'll die in the middle of vegetation!
@penguinshamrock apple snails refer to the whole genus of Pomacea species, mystery snails usually refer to the specific species Pomacea lineata. "Mystery" because as they get older they can change color, so you don't know what you're going to get if you buy them young. Because the 'mystery snail' is often confused at the pet store or online with invasive snails that ruin ecosystems in north america and rice paddies in asia, it's not a good idea to own these snails.

These look like aglae wafers. You should be able to get them from any good aquarium shop, or if not you can order them off Amazon or other websites.
cartoonporn 2 years ago
@cartoonporn No. Aquarium snails eat algae wafers. You can get them at petco/ petsmart. Or any fish store should have them available. ;-)
