to all of you considering getting a mac: the ONLY mac i'd EVER advise on getting is a macbook pro. you're getting RIPPED OFF with the rest (you're also getting ripped off with the MBP, but it's almost worth it). for desktops.... PC ALL THE WAY.
@breakbomb1 Agreed, the MPA cost too damn much for the fact that it dos less, its cool and all but for over $1000 im putting my money on the pro... which i did!! should get it by next week!!
please someone HELP!? im thinking of getting either the 13" macbook pro or the 21.5" iMac (both entry level models) which one should i get? they are both the same price but with the iMac you get so much more! im going to use it for web browsing, writing up essays, a small amount of gaming and downloading movies/ music etc. all ive ever had was a laptop so i dont know how i would take to the change. please someone help me! thank you so much for taking the time to read this :)
@JimBaww it really depends on if you will need to take it any ware because its easier for college students to pack up a MBP than a IMac. the iMac has better graphics but the MBP you can make portable, so it is totally up to you. if you are in college or going to be using it for work.
@JimBaww the iMac any day would be a better choice. You have a lot more power - but the lack of being mobile of course. The choice is yours... But I would always prefer to use a desktop when at home.
@vwxy20z The 21'5" iMac has a i5, the 15" Macbook Pro has a i7, both have mobile processors. the iMac 21'5" has a 2510E, only the larger iMacs have desktop CPU's.
@PhotoShopChannel it´s simple: disassemble a macbook pro and disassemble any other Notebook and you will see the difference :-) Quality has it´s price.
@19poison85 Your being stupid, you have not even researched it. 1100T 6 Core 3.7Ghz Phenom 16GB DDR3 Kingston Hyper X T1 1800Mhz RAM 60GB OCZ SSD for OS 2TB for Media and files 350GB old HDD for *backups* and such...porn Nvidia 9800GTX 1GB All in a NZXT Mid-Tower case ----------------- All for £406.98 Or a: 4 Core i5 Mini 4GB 2.5 inch1333Mhz Laptop Grade RAM 1TB Laptop Hidden Brand HDD AMD Radeon laptop GPU with a cheap 1/2GB module slapped on it ---------------- All for £1,519 Mac = Fail.
@PhotoShopChannel agreed :-) i´m on a hackintosh too :-) but for all the mobile work i bought a Macbook Pro... There are so many Features that i will never miss, like two Finger scrolling, automatic Keyboard Backlight etc. etc. and after installing windows 7 on my PC, the first alert that i get was: explorer.exe has stopped working :-) That´s the reason i don´t use windows anymore. Mac=Win (epic win)
SSD's are the shit because they completely eliminate any moving parts within your computer (other than the optical drive). Computers have always been held back by HDD. In the future, once SSDs drop in price and get more storage, you will not see HDD anymore. By the way, Apple owns the shit out of your weak ass WINDARD PC. Just because you have an expensive video card doesn't mean your PC is awesome. Thats like saying "I have a fast network card, my PC is awesome," fucking noob ass clowns.
@TheMasterofganja I own a mac and a PC. PC's can be built more powerful for a MUCH cheaper price. The only reason I got a mac is because I wanted to use OSX Lion, and didn't want to risk making a hackintosh laptop.
My desktop, which is around 2 years old, is *much* more powerful than the Mac I just got, and it was cheaper.
@JamesMichaelBillings my pc was £500+ less than your overpriced macbook, does more shit than yours could ever, its upgradeable and not a fucking mac LOL. and by into windows i mean ready to turn on programs etc not the screen turning on
@JamesMichaelBillings Yep. My computer that is $400 (note the US dollar, which $400 is infact less than £350... but whatever) has a 64GB SSD with amazing read and writes + boot time.

@burcyril10 Hey i bought an SSD about 2 days ago, it was totally worth the $120 (australian) Yeah itunes still takes forever and framrates are still the same, but there is no lag on the desktop. AMAZING! my computer boots so quick, the second the background shows on my desktop, xfire and msn are already signing in.
@Spectra1Beats Its not about boot times. Its about the fluidity of the OS, it doesnt matter if its Winblows, Cr-apple OSX or linux. All of them run really smooth and their is simply no waiting for anything on them. No sands of time or spinning circle thing cause im looking up a file. Also it extended my laptops battery time by almost an hour and a half. Plus if the drive ever fails, you can still read off of it unlike a HDD if it ever fails. So you lose no data. You just cant write to it
@samaqaba lol lies operating system is done without any disks its over internet so no apple store its $30 for the operating system and windows operating system is $200+
id say the best combo is to buy two normal HDD's and RAID 0 them or RAID 5 them. nowadays tho its prob better to buy a 120gb SSD and get a 2TB drive for storage
@donconco Well I can tell you your missing out. You have no idea how much faster and fluid your computer can be by adding in a SSD. Their is no wait, no slowdowns. Yes a good cpu will be faster but your boot and all that wont change by much and you will still have seek times on those HDD's. My desktop is a Core i5 2500k at 5GHz, 8GB of Ram at 1600 and dual GTX470s and I can tell you my computer felt way more responsive with my Vertex 2 SSD.
Can anyone name a computer company that gives you the option of quad-core i7, amd radeon with 256mb, and a solid state drive. I got the money so I'm getting the mac.
As far as I'm concerned, getting a Mac isn't nessecarily a bad choice if you're not a computer nut like me, they complete tasks very well and the OS is very stable most of the time. The thing about PCs are just so much more...powerful if you're into customizing, Geforce SLI, ATI Crossfire, I mean, Macs, By default, they're a good choice, but in preference, I'd take a PC anyday.
@landline00 In essence yes. Generally, most technically proficient users go with Windows or Linux. Usually if you talk to a Mac user for a while, you'll realize they are technical midgets. (Again, generally...)
@slayingu9999 Right. Where are you from? When I was visiting NYC recently almost everyone in coffee shops (including East Indians) had Macbooks. Are you certain that you are more "technically proficient" than every single one of them?
@landline00 Uhm, no. Did you catch me making any claims about East Indians from NYC? No. Did you see the word generally? Apparently not. If you're trying to dispute the fact that statistically more technically proficient users don't use Macs, then you've not done your homework.
@slayingu9999 Whatever you say. This is one fact I can guarantee is true: nor a single Macbook owner is envious of PC notebook users. For example, no one who owns a 11" Macbook Air wishes they bad bought a Dell instead.
@landline00 Not true, I've talked to many people who wish they'd bought a "PC notebook", not a Dell, but still something other than a Mac. They will be buying non-Mac when they can afford it. (Or sometime soon...) So while there is likely a high number of Mac users who are satisfied with their Macs, there is a minority who are not. Same goes for anything though.
you can't get anything higher than an i7 940m in that battery eating piece of crap they charge damn well over $3000 for in upgrades to make it comparable to the new mbp 17". don't make me laugh, the HD 6750m TAKES A FAT SHIT all over the shitty little GTX 285M. even with a dual sli in the m17x, the 6750m is nearly the same in graphics processing. alienwares shit doesnt even come close.
that doesnt even make a difference on a 17" screen for those chips, the 6750 is ddr5 anyways with 3d 5.0 and not 4.0 like the 285. the 6750 has three times as many pipelines, too. it's doing way more calculations per second.
well this is a fuckin laptop, so even a dual sli cant be compared. as for whatever gpu you have, im sure the new 6750M will run your shit into the ground. my buddy just got the 17" mbp base model and it runs SC2 on max settings with 78fps. find another laptop that will run it like that and flawlessly, and ill be real fucking impressed. as for macs sucking dick, do you have another laptop manufacturer that can compare? no. nothing compares in size, power, battery and effiency.
This video was posted over 2 years ago. So ppl. THE CURRENT MBP IS MUCH FASTER! The owner of this video should really delete this video. The current MBA boots in 12 secs.
@mcnade yes very true i actually own one but i wouldnt really worry about it unless you use it as a gaming computer it akes long enough to sit down get out ur laptop get back up get something to eat and come back to the computer at full speed

@landline00 I would say so, if you don't want to deal with viruses, BIOS, and just use it for what it is.

my mac only takes 20seconds to boot up with a 7200rpm!
Reconseal4050 10 months ago
SERIOUS MACS ARE FAST ENOUGH! THEY CANT BENEFIT MUCH FROM SSDs. IF ANYTHING IT SHOULD BE PCS THAT ARE IN NEED OF SSDs.
Reconseal4050 10 months ago
@Reconseal4050 PCs are in need of sledgehammers
whiteman866 10 months ago
@Reconseal4050 You must be kidding. Several tests have pointed out that macs take 2 to 3 times longer to boot than any PC. Macs are the worst

@LeisureCentury
are you kidding me?
you can't get anything higher than an i7 940m in that battery eating piece of crap they charge damn well over $3000 for in upgrades to make it comparable to the new mbp 17". don't make me laugh, the HD 6750m TAKES A FAT SHIT all over the shitty little GTX 285M. even with a dual sli in the m17x, the 6750m is nearly the same in graphics processing. alienwares shit doesnt even come close.
tilxGH 10 months ago
@tilxGH a GTX 285M in SLI has a 3Dmark 11 score of 5334, compared to a score of 1158.5.....explain how it takes a "fat shit" over the 285 again?...
sparky790 8 months ago
@sparky790
that doesnt even make a difference on a 17" screen for those chips, the 6750 is ddr5 anyways with 3d 5.0 and not 4.0 like the 285. the 6750 has three times as many pipelines, too. it's doing way more calculations per second.
tilxGH 8 months ago
@LeisureCentury
well this is a fuckin laptop, so even a dual sli cant be compared. as for whatever gpu you have, im sure the new 6750M will run your shit into the ground. my buddy just got the 17" mbp base model and it runs SC2 on max settings with 78fps. find another laptop that will run it like that and flawlessly, and ill be real fucking impressed. as for macs sucking dick, do you have another laptop manufacturer that can compare? no. nothing compares in size, power, battery and effiency.
tilxGH 10 months ago
lmao no, this is how the gamble.
pooper1102 10 months ago
@LeisureCentury
and just what kind of computer might you be using?
tilxGH 10 months ago
it's not worth it. Buy a Vertex 2 or Intel G2 and install it by yourself.

A pc laptop takes 2 or 3 times longer to boot, and yes I own both types of laptops... and the pc one is newer with better specs.

@mcnade right... the new ones are faster than alienware but sure they are slow... its not the macs' fault if you cant afford it!
