@gggrinz may help a lil, but will not take away the bad stuff completely, some say that this has help, you know if you dont try, their not that exspensive
@UtubeHairCare Hey, I just looked it up online, and Places like Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver all have soft water. So you're fine! It said that the west is soft and the prarie provinces like Saskatchewan (if that's spelt right lol) and Manitoba are hard.
VERY informative and useful video! This is the reason why we should do our own research and not follow the crowd. I am in Ottawa and started using this clarifying shampoo by neutrogena and my hair felt great! now I know why. I saw this video on NatSun and HAD to come one youtube to comment! Thanks so much for sharing this video
Wicked video. i use Head and shoulders and that really cleanses my hair. I think its simular to the Gillette shampoo. Your video just confirms what i was doing is ok. Girl we have to listen to our hair right? Thumbs up.
Does the shampoo(s) you're using in this video contain tetrasodium EDTA or disodium EDTA? These chemicals are the chelating agents in a shampoo that fight hard water. I'm just curious because you say it may be the sulphates that are fighting the hard water. I'm searching for a great shampoo, but I just can't seem to find one! I do find your videos are very helpful. :-)
@Tangerinesorbet great question, the non sulphate shampoo does contain tetrasodium EDTA as well, all 3 shampoos contain this ingredient, and it is suppose to make hard water soft and is to attract metal ion in hard water..but the only missing ingredient was the sulphate, this shampoo replaced it with sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, hope i spell it right, but it also contains oils in this shampoo, which soaps are derived from, so im guessing the soap scum build occured because of the abesnt of sulfate
@Tangerinesorbet disodium EDTA does the same thing...and is also found in non sulfate shampoo's i have as well, missing ingredient sulfate, curly hair is more sensitive to hard water than straight hair is, and you'll noticed the difference, i use shampoo without oils, then follow with a good deep moisturizing conditoner, gotta run we'll talk more
@UtubeHairCare Thank you so much for you help! I'm seriously thinking about trying the sulfates again because of hard water doing a number on my hair. lol
@Tangerinesorbet think about a color safe shampoo, think about it, it gentle so it wont strip you color, to keep the color lasting long and vibrant, so i find that these shampoo only contain ONE sulfate ingredient NOT 2, i find it gentle, give them a shot, brand i use is L'OREAL VIVE Pro. in a pink bottle glossy volume..the shampoo itself is colourless, so it will work for any color hair, or any other brand that you prefer, just B4 your buy, make sure it's colour free
Hard water here in West Texas! I just use a hard water shower head filter (you can buy this at a hardware store for about $30). Then, I am able to use the non sulfate shampoos which work well on my hair.
@curliefro if you can, i would like to know the make and model, and whre you got this, so i can fins one for myself, cause all the water softners i sen have been in the thousands lowest price i seen was 700 dollars, ;-( for 30 its unreal
@UtubeHairCare This is a General Electric Inline showerhead filter (model number GXSM01HWW) which costs 23 to 30 dollars. One installs the filter on the shower head and then you can "refill" the filter every 3 to 6 months. Works great and my hair has thrived - less dry and easier to moisturize
@UtubeHairCare Let my know how this works because it made a big difference with my hair and skin. I have eczema and when my filter is due for change, my eczema returns with a fierceness :)
Perfect example of what hard water does to your hair. They have shampoos just for hard water their called chelating shampoos and they work really well to get rid of the calcium, mineral, magnesium, etc build up. you can also buy a water softner for your shower as well. great video!
You are a nutjob! so this is what real estate agents do with their spare time. I like it! I really do like it! I would feel at home with someone like yourself as an real estate agent!..say, isn't century 21 now known as - Prudential Fox & Roach.
@wildwoodtop hey hey!! now keep tha under wrapps, the others havent figured that out yet lol, yeah im cool to hang around with, as for the name change of century 21, no no no, not here in canada anyways
I think i have this same problem with hard water. I would rinse the shampoo out of my hair thoroughly, or so i thought. Then looking in the mirror it seems like there was still build up. I was thinking it was the shampoo, but it might be a combo of both.
@bearr7 well i think i will do the sulphate wash, i dont think its going to dry my hair out, only because i now know how my hair reacts to it, how often to wash and how to moisturise my hair, it's a learning process, but im learning to listen to my hair and find what it needs to made it better..
Oh my goodness, I tried the Daisy Fuentes shampoo before. It was the WORST EVER! It made my hair feel like wax afterwards and the scent was a total thumbs down. Daisy know she's wrong for selling that stuff!
Very smart. I don't think I have hard water, but I'm sure there are things in almost everyone's water that will eventually build up on our skin/body if not washed off by something like a detergent. That may explain why we can use a condition for a few times and love it, and then one day it just didn't work the same. We often think that our hair "got used to it", so we have to switch up, but it may be that we have buildup that won't allow the conditioner to effectively coat the strands! Good Info
Filters are really not that expensive... all things in perspective. I noticed a difference immediately when I purchased several months ago. My skin is not as dry and itchy and my hair is always shiny and soft. Even my hubby could tell the difference with his skin.
@prettynappycurls yeah my girlfriend was raving about them yesterday, she stayed at someone house who had them installed and she loved it!! i checked on line water softners were $1700, and those were their so called special price, i had bought a counter top water ionizer but i think it takes away chlorine and fluoride but adds in all the minerals, got to look into that, but you got one your lucky!!
You might want to look into a shower filter. My shower filter is to rid the water of chlorine (which is drying to hair and skin) and it also reduces fungi and other organisms. I don't have hard water so I can't say that it does anything for hard water but there should be hard water filters out there that would help.
@Lalapallooza77 ok \np
