The Duprees' version came out in the summer of 1962; not 1958 as reported above. I remember it very well but, no matter. It still ranks as their first of so many great songs. I love nearly everything they did.
I am asking for the second time.....does anyone know the name of the guy that is sitting in the middle of this picture......I have a reason for asking...will someone please answer me
Have u lied? Have u stolen? Jesus said if you look at a women with lust u have committed adultery with her in your heart.
If God judge’s u by the Ten Commandments will u be innocent or guilty? Heaven or Hell? And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. needgod.com

@juan58102 Juan, well stated, Your English is so good that you might as well take it on up to perfect. Try this: This song was heard in Arica, Chile, about the year 1963. I was ten years old, but I still remember those times. People then were kind and amicable, but the generations have changed. I have not changed, however. I still treat people honorably. Long Live Oldies!!
And with people like you and me Juan, they will live forever..
My late husband and I Loved this song, such BEAUTIFUL MEANING in the words. I used to sing this to my late husband. He passed November 18, 2010. Brings back memories and many tears. We were so very BLESSED to be married 45 years. Went STEADY for 2 years before that.Remember GOING STEADY? Met him when I was 15. Love at first sight for both of us. Married him when I was 17. So sad that today's so called music isn't like I was fortunate to have in my teenage days. Now this is MUSIC.
@Linda98833 I agree with you. this is music. Music today is fit to be in the garbage can. i am happy that you can look back to the good old days and coordinate good music with good times. Today's kids would look back and only think about music that was trashy and ugly. Pity that music has come to that sorry state.
@xViCiouSxGooNx (One last thing. You asked earlier what was racist about your remark. Talk about rap as "black" and country as "white" is merely ignorant. What's RACIST is making that distinction and that going on to blather about how savage and evil and inferior the "black" music -- about which you evidently know nothing -- is supposed to be. Just for future reference.)
@xViCiouSxGooNx Two-parter reply: How many black country singers could I name? Far fewer. Country music's recording establishment has far bigger issues with race than hip-hop does and would indeed like to preserve it as a "white" art form; Charlie Pride's face had to be hidden from audiences until his third album. This however says very little about whether black people LISTEN to country music, which they obviously do.
I remember this song as #50 in the "Top 500" in December of 1967 played on WOR FM NY. After the song was finished, I distinctly remember the DJ saying "Number 49 belongs to the Elegants..." (Little Star) It is amazing what the human mind can recall when great songs are being played. WOR FM also released a POST records double album in 1967 containing this Dupree's classic.
@saysay44 how is that rascist? rap is by black artists for black people...its not rascist, its the truth...dont act like u aint never said "country is white folks music" or called somebody a cracker lol
@xViCiouSxGooNx "how is that rascist? rap is by black artists for black people..." Sort of just really ignorant and sub-moronic, actually. It's two thousand fucking eleven and you haven't figured out that rap has more white performers and audiences than you can shake a stick at? You'll be needing a medical professional to extract your head from your rectum. (And no, country isn't "white folks music," though the country establishment would like it to be. Ray Charles started out singing country.)
@mistabobdobolina while ur putting ur two cents in, think about this.......how many white rappers can u name? all i can think of is eminem and vanilla ice....how many black country singers can u name? i can think of charley pride, ray charles, and darius rucker......and besides, the way i see it, rap isnt even an art or music....its gang noise cuz if u see a drive by, they're not gonna be bumpin lady antebellum, i think they'll be listenin to lil wayne cuz all rap does is promote violence
The Beastie Boys, Third Bass, Atmosphere, Aesop Rock, Vinnie Paz, Everlast, Bubba Sparxxx, Lady Sovereign, The Streets, RA the Rugged Man, Remedy, Ill Bill, Eyedea, Celph Titled, Paul Wall... that's strictly off the top of my head.
"the way i see it, rap isnt even an art or music"
Yes, you're completely and utterly ignorant about rap, I know. So just don't try to talk about it. Save yourself the embarrassment.
@ITILII Sarah Palin pays bounty money for the severed forepaws of wolves shot from aerial planes in Alaska. Many of the wolves die slow, tortured deaths. So, yes, a vote for Sarah Palin makes you a redneck and worse. With Sarah and her pals in the White House, the "terrorists" will win.
I can remember hearing this in New York being played by Murry the K in 1962 I think is was on WABC as an oldie but goodie just before we shipped out for the Cuban Missle Crisis.
Couple of songs take me back there this is one of them.
Why don't they bring back doo wop back instead of rap shite ? If they want a political message, just make doo wop do that..how about this for a title of a doo wop song ?..."How many unies did the uni-bomber bomb ?' Bulit in rythmn already. I'm 18...and I feel like No one my age would listen to this...BUT this is the kind of music that makes me feel romantic...and helps me sleep at night. I love this stuff. I wish I was around back then...seems like such a happier time.

Asolutely Divine..A classic.. those were the days the greatest memories of all time back then.. I am so happy to have been a part of the era! Drive in movies remember? hahaha
Man! What a great song, and so smooth and well done by the incredible joey vann. What great harmonizing and vocals! Joey Vann and The Duprees! What a great tribute to 1962!
The original Duprees, had the tightest harmony then any other group. Greatness last forever, just as thier music has. Thier songs are ageless. Long live Doo-Wop, music with meaning, heart, and love.
@cosneg1149 Hey i agree with you 100%....I grew up in the time period and remember alot to vocal groups in this era, you said about this group is ageless and timeless...1949sorful
RoverTCB - this song is actually from 1962, not 1958. It was first done by Jo Stafford in 1952, but this version had a big band sound added by George Paxton, a former big band leader. GREAT SONG!!
This is so great & far superior to the crap that is on the radio these days--Hey you can understand the words. The generation of today's society has the music for one thing too loud & overpowering the singers. Then today you have this Black Rap Crap--A Waste
@RoverTCB I love this music as well as you and I'm 22 years old and by the way you can leave the race out of music... every ethnicity enjoys rap dumb ass
AGREED! And I am only 39 years old. My dad kept all of his old 45's in a metal potato chip can and all of us kids wore them out. Wonderful, innocent genre.
Haha sadly this is too true. Ours is a generation that no longer appreciates the arts. We tend to enjoy music for the raw sensation of its beats being hammered into our brains rather than let the lyrics sink in to our souls. Different strokes, different strokes.
@ChopGaMan Ignorance in your statement "Black Rap Crap" Are you indicating that African Americans make Crap music, must i remind you of The temptations or anyone of that sort.
@NaiJorJul well i do agree that rap is black rap crap. African americans did make good music at one time like the Temptations did. If you equate the music the black musicians did in the 50's with todays' black rap crap then you need to get your head checked.
I'm definatly a rocker at heart, but, I can't help but to have a soft spot for this type of music... They just don't make it like this anymore.

Man! What a great song, and so smooth and well done by the incredible joey vann. What great harmonizing and vocals! Joey Vann and The Duprees! What a great tribute to 1962!
Abinidad2 2 years ago 5
The original Duprees, had the tightest harmony then any other group. Greatness last forever, just as thier music has. Thier songs are ageless. Long live Doo-Wop, music with meaning, heart, and love.

Amen to that :)

You are quite right. I cannot stand rap music....well, not even music...just noise
sass104505 1 year ago
@RoverTCB I love this music as well as you and I'm 22 years old and by the way you can leave the race out of music... every ethnicity enjoys rap dumb ass

@RoverTCB

@ChopGaMan how close minded can you get?
ClorophyllFilms 8 months ago
@ChopGaMan Ignorance in your statement "Black Rap Crap" Are you indicating that African Americans make Crap music, must i remind you of The temptations or anyone of that sort.
NaiJorJul 6 months ago
@NaiJorJul well i do agree that rap is black rap crap. African americans did make good music at one time like the Temptations did. If you equate the music the black musicians did in the 50's with todays' black rap crap then you need to get your head checked.
calihartley2010 5 months ago
@calihartley2010 Most doo wop groups were black and doo wop came from Afro american communities so doo wop is black music.
