  • Give her a longbow and i bet she wouldnt be half as good. All that equipment on the bow cancels it out.

  • I think she shoots beautiful so fluent,i agree you can have to high a poundage i shoot 40 pounds and 60 on a hunting bow i have been shooting these for some years.you cant just go shoot you have to work it up,i have shot 90 pound warbows but have quit that i have seen a lot of those guys with shoulders gone tendon damage its not worht it,like to shoot archery into old age not suffer .

  • only can say 1 thing: get a longbow!

  • A user called targetbutt gave the most comprehensive answer to this on yahoo answers.

    /question/index?qid=20080705052253AASUWJ7

  • It's being pulled forward by the weight of the stabilizer on the front. She's letting it go with the weight as a proper follow thru in competition archery. Hunters don't do it because of excess movement being bad for hunting and also the stabilizers on hunting bow normally aren't 3 feel long lol.

  • To answer the many questions, the bow is being pulled fowar

  • music is annoying

  • who do al "pro" archers do that stupid gay thing where they drop the bow and let it swing of their wright? they're all copying eachother... retarded.

  • it looks discusting!

  • Can someone explain why she and many other archers drop the bow and then regrip it? What does this do?

  • Comment removed

  • I used to be an adventurer until this guy shot me in the knee

  • why does she twist the bow after she shoots?

  • someone please briefly explain to me why people have that balance on the front of their bow to make it drop forwards after a shot.I don't really understand why they drop the bow forwards

  • @calland2k7 she is using a finger sling, kind of like an elastic band between her thumb and forefinger, which allows the bow to follow it's own path forward after she releases the string (this allows a straighter, more consistent release motion, opposed to the release from firing into the pliable fingers). because of the force of the shot, the bow would normally be tipped backwards from the top, and the archer be in danger of hitting themselves on the head, so the weight drops it forward instead

  • Elbow is too high, it should be in line with the arrow...

  • @Talondas Actually, its perfect (and im amazed!). i have been shooting for about two years and my coach (who is also the USA womens olympic archery team's coach) explained elbow position like this: the arrow is natrually off, due to the nocking (sp?) point being changeable. The right elbow really needs to line up with the left shoulder and left hand, so that the bones support the bow and the right muscles are being used. look at 0:05 and you will be able to see it, and draw a straight line.

  • @jackson98765432 Wait, i made a mistake. The right elbow, right hand (anchor) and the left hand need to line up, not the lef shoulder. My bad

  • With form this terrible you'd think she wouldn't be the best in the world.

I guess everyone else's form is just worse.

  • Thought it was a guy until I saw the hair.... now I don't know.... I am not an expert and this person is obvious good, but that doesn't look much like a followthrough. I'm just saying. I guess it's working for them though.

  • Asian people

  • been wood bow hunting all my life, i dont understand why do you let the bow swing like that after you fire? it just seems redundant, i just let it fly off the string, and watch it fly.

  • @burningsponge in target shooting we don't hold the bow anymore instead we use "bow sling" attached to our fingers so when ever we shoot, the bow just fall off our hands and the bow sling will catch it. Holding the bow makes vibration meaning less accurate shots.

  • @loki0912 oh, thanks

  • This is stupid, " worlds best " do it in a fucking pine tree shooting at a bear. Or at moving geese in the air. Without a fuckin 6' long stabalizer. Or even FUCKING SIGHTS YET. holy shit its like shootin a compound, its not fuckin hard. Do it off your hand with just a stick and string. Then say your the words best. A sight, lmfao...all ya have to do is put the pin on the target. Easy. i do know too.

  • why do archers let the bow sing when they release?

  • I'm pretty new to Recurve archery, so I wonder why they let the bow fall back after shooting, is it to release the preasure? :\

  • @DoNotInterfare She is using a finger sling.

A sling is used to be able to shoot with a relaxed bow hand thus increasing the accuracy of the shot.

With a sling, the bow moves freely after every shot while hand and wrist can relax. This technique can be reproduced more consistently. The sling only stops the bow from falling and prevents damage.

  • i'm 15 years old and currently shooting a 40lb recurve bow. i can't seem to find my best anchor point can anyone have a advice?

  • she shooting with sights? And i love the Consistency.

  • beautiful technique

  • Why are the asian better at everything! :( oh nevermind... legolas ownz this girl ;D

  • see shes the best archer because she has sights. i bet she couuldnt shoot nearle that good without sights. i say if your going to shoot recurve dont use sights because recurve is supposed to be traditional what means no sights if your going nto shoot compound shoot with sights

  • @nbow27 HAHAHA LMAO YOUR STUPID SHUT UP

  • @blorchdude4 dude traditional archery is no sights she should shoot compound if she wants sights your an idiot im right that if you have sights its not real recurve thats the only reason shes good try shooting wwithout sights and youll probably suck

  • For less experienced archers, it'd be better to use bows with lower draw weight,

  • What the hell is she doing with her bow? I'm just learning archery and that looks so wrong.

  • Thank you, I have been trying to figure out the way she anchored for some time now. Thanks to your video, I can see how she does it. I am not sure if it is going to work for me, but I can do a lot worse than to try to copy her anchor.

  • why does she drop the bow down like that?

  • @Magnumscoffeefreek I've just started learning and we're being taught to shoot without gripping the bow because it's twitchy and difficult to be consistent. Tension from pulling the string back keeps the bow pressed against your palm until you release the shot and then the bow drops of it's own accord. Being that relaxed makes accurate shooting a little easier.

  • @ZW4929 Yeah i found that they just make a sling out of a shoe lace.

  • So where is the actual target? We can't see the distance nor the set

  • bet she couldnt hit the broad side of a barn with a traditional bow

  • @MaStErPhReSh333 bet you couldn't shoot a 1400+ fita

  • @bertanderny bet i could

  • @MaStErPhReSh333 Recurve is a traditional bow, it's only compunds that aren't traditional.

  • Man, alot of you guys are a disgrace to archery. Look at you cussing each other out, telling each other that they know nothing. What's the matter with you guys? Archery is archery. We are all in the same group. We're all brothers and should act like it. Stop acting superior to everyone else.

We should all learn from each other. I have learned so much from compound shooters, recurve shooters, and longbow shooters. You guys are brothers of the bow. Start acting like it.

  • i shoot with 40 pounds innopower ex limbs and have no problem at 90 or 70 meters .. you dont need to have to much pounds that just will injure your fingers after some years trust me... i have seen it ..

  • @chonne81 I agree that the high draw weight isn't necessary to shoot the longer distances but the higher draw weight would still be an advantage in the wind with all other variables being equal.

I used to have sore fingers from shooting around 44lbs but realise now that it was all because I gripped the string wrong, a deep hook has fixed this problem for me. I now shoot 36lbs on my recurve after moving to compound.

  • @Allvyn yes i know that but i know a archer from sweden (im a swede) who has even shoot in the olympics , and hes fingers are destroyed just beacuse to much pounds on his fingers 46 pounds on a 68 bow.. and he can never shoot recurve again he is now a very promesing compound shooter :) .. and we have a olderm an in sweden who shoots 28 pounds on a fiberbow with border limbs he is 60 years old and can match the top elite in sweden even on 70 meters beacuse he learned to use his bow right =)

  • @chonne81 higher poundage = better sight marks

  • every archer in every style thinks they're superior to every other style of archery.. and i admit, as an olympic style archer, i constantly find myself judging compound hunters or barebow/longbow shooters, but i know i'm not right in doing so. every form of archery is beautiful in it's own way and it's just a matter of choice (a lot of times it reflect the individual's personality). so just be quiet about who's better than whom, or what's the best style.. because it just doesn't matter

  • THATS NOT A BOW

  • Ok does that Korean version of L.L. Cool J looking archer have to let her bow dangle like that? Pretty damn annoying after the 2nd time I saw that.

  • @yellafever The bow dangles because the grip hand completely relaxes. Once the string is released there is nothing to hold the bow in place, and a wrist strap on the grip hand keeps the bow from falling to the ground, hence the bow dangling. Perhaps you would prefer she dropped the bow on the ground with each shot? If you ever did any archery, you would know that.

  • damn....u know nothing bout archery....

  • Sorry, Byron Ferguson is the best recurve archer in the world. And im sick of hearing all these people bitchen because competition shooters use sights and stabilizers, if it really help sso much and makes it so much easier go pick one up and win competitions yourself instead of criticizing what other people chose to use, they are PROFESSIONALS, and those things are the tools of their trade.

  • @MrMintSkoal07 you have no idea how worng you are. you just gave your opinion about the tools and about byron based on what you have seen and based on what you think. your comparison is miscalculated, and judging by your comment i can learn how you lack of experience.

Byron is trained to shoot a very specific type of shooting, for all these tricks he does with the rings and whatever else he shot. target shooting with a recurve is a different thing. byron even might not be as good with that.

  • @xSniperDelux3x hahaha look at you shootin down people left and right..,.sorry to offend you Fred Bear. I dont "lack experiance" i am a hunter, i fling arrows out of my compound bow and eat steak, so take your lack of experiance comment and shove it up your pompous ass.

  • @MrMintSkoal07 you fucking jerk, who the fuck do you think you are?! nothing about hunting makes you more experienced. its a complete different thing which, ~ as an archer you should know ( if you really are one). so mister i eat steak ~ think you are that smart? most of the people that comment on various subjects dont have any experience and are just giving away what they think, because internet is like that. uthink every1 around here is a archer?. go learn something or two, you do lack exp.

  • @xSniperDelux3x. what wrong? Say somethin that made you look bad? Fuck you buddy, sit there on your computer and think you are better than me. Who are YOU to tell me i lack experiance? Because i dont shoot at a target all day? Sorry, i shoot at living, breathing, moving targets from a tree. I'd say thats enough experiance. So go stand on the ground with your recurve and shoot arrows at your targets that are 30 yards away and shut your fuckin mouth.

  • @MrMintSkoal07 no, nothing made me look bad, your cheap comments cant do that, more like you looking like a fucking jerk. do you really think that because you shoot assfuck deers you are the ultimate archer? who the fuck do you think you are? i know you are a narrow minded fuck who thinks that he knows best of all just because you are good at a specifc thing. idc how much exp you have with hunting, you dont know me and for how long ive been shooting, so do me a favor and be quiet already.

  • @xSniperDelux3x This never would have became an issue if you didnt run that fuckin pompus mouth of yours "You have no idea how wrong you are"....I never said i was the ultimate archer, youre the fuckin douchebag who is tellin me i lack experiance, and now im narrow minded? Why dont you take up yo-yoing or somethin, that sounds more like your hobby, idc how long you've been shooting for,, that still doesnt make you any good at it pal.

  • @MrMintSkoal07 byron shoots a longbow smart guy

  • Comment removed

  • if byron ferguson can shoot an aspirin out of the air...with no stabilizer or sight....is it really necessary. NO. that equipment is to aid an archer that lacks the ability to do it on their own. i love compound shooting but its so easy. a traditional "stick and string" is a challenge. whats the point of shooting a recurve if you have a 5 foot stabilizer and a sight?

  • @littlebigman243 i hate to say that but i had to comment, you are really ignorant and you have no idea AT ALL about archery. you just another parasite who gave his opinion based on what he thinks without knowing anything. shooting a bare bow is something totally different, people who use a recurve have not moved on from a bare bow because they lack the ability to do it without tools. they just dont shoot a bare bow because they dont want to learn how to. oh and nothing is easy. there is easier

  • @xSniperDelux3x if you want to use sights on a recurve it is to help make you more consistent, just like the stabilizer. these things are tools i agree, but they are aids as well. i just dont understand why you would shoot a bow with no letoff if you need aids such as sights and a stabilizer. i shoot a recurve with nothing but a flipper rest for fun, but when i wanna be serious i have a pse for that. your the one who doesnt seem to know about archery. do you even own a bow?

  • to be honest, because of their technique and obvious talent for the sport, any top olympic recurve archer would still shoot respectably with a barebow.

And Byron Ferguson is a gimmick archer I agree it's entertaining but, come on... in the same way you say that Park couldn't "shoot an asprin out of the air" with a wooden recurve at 5 yrds (who would want to anyway?) there's not a chance on earth that Byron could shoot Olympic Recurve to the standard that she does. Not ever.

  • what arm guard is that that she is wearing?

  • Amazing form and great to watch. Does anyone know what lb limbs Park Sung Hyun uses? I'm assuming this is a 70m FITA.

  • @Youspud79 Her sight pin position seems to suggest she is shooting 70m and I read an article online stating she shoots a 44 pound bow.

  • @Allvyn Thanks for that. 44 lb and no shaking to be seen, deceptively strong! I'm shooting 40lb at the moment and I feel it after a morning!

  • @Youspud79 It is essential to shoot with good technique which would only require the use of the muscles essential to the shot, any more than that would surely result in wasted energy expenditure and shaking.

  • @Youspud79 Really? I shoot 78lb draw weight at 29" draw length on my mathews compound and dont feel it at all. Maybe Im just used to it. Or maybe there is a HUGE difference between compound and recurve bows. idk.

  • @Youspud79

hmmmm, she stands, pulls the bow back and fires. wow!

  • I dont get why Koreans are always the best archers, Maybe becasue thier eyes are naturaly squinted..

  • @mifolious not at all.. Koreans are good at almost everything if that needs a great concentration, spirit, and speed. naturally squinted is totally wrong.. lol

  • @mifolious koreans were traditionally bow fighters and siege defenders. we had to fight againsts the chinese a lot. in east asia we speak of the chinese spear, korean bow and japanese swords.

  • @kdsbsb Ohh, Thats actualy really kool... Guess you learn sumthin every day!!

  • not to mention what shes shooting is not what i consider a traditional longbow. take the sight, riser, and counter-weight off that bow and i guarantee you she wouldnt hit shit. give her wooden arrows and a traditional recurve with just your eyes and see how she shoots then.

  • @backwoodsboy1121

    Your comment is painfully stupid.

  • @melandor0 yet painfully truthful as well shithead.

  • @backwoodsboy1121

Just becuase you say it's true doesn't make it true, shithead.

    "Shithead? What's a shithead?"

  • @backwoodsboy1121 fuck you! god dam, i just can not stop finding those repetitive comments!~ so lame, you have no idea at all about archery. AT ALL! NOTHING!

shooting a bare bow is not a harder challenge, its a different type of shooting, and people learn it differently. you cant compare a recurve archer to a bare bow archer, who is never necessarily better. it does not matter what you shot with, you have to train and become better for sniping targets. do your home work, u really know nothing.

  • @backwoodsboy1121 i wouldn't call it that either because its a recurve smart guy plus why say some stupid shit like that as long as she is shooting the bow and arrow i don't care you, shouldn't either

  • like to see her shoot a traditional recurve

  • is that a dude or what?

  • with all that junk on her bow its almost impossible to miss todays engineers have taken the art of archery out of the picture

  • I'm no archer, but why do they let their bow hang and swing like that after shooting?

  • @ScorchinBeats archers don't grip the bow, but more like hold it in place between their thumb and fingers. this is to prevent bow movement so at the moment of release, ur hand won't be as shaky and affect the shot. because they just hold it in place, after a shot is fired, the bow's momentum of the string just pushed it out of the archer so they have the wrist holder to keep it from dropping. ps. its a follow through

  • Why do the archers drop the top of their bows down after releasing the arrow?

I have NEVER seen that before. What does it do?

  • @Selsiuss2 that's simple. When reloading the arrow you can accidently release it. It's for safety really.

  • it never showed her hit a target lol

  • were did the shots hit

  • i believe Rambo is the best.. I mean.. did u see those headshots? I was like BOOM! HEADSHOT

  • ok can anyone tell me this? Why is her draw elbow so high ..i mean really high ..isnt that like ..totally opossite of what Koreans teach ? Its just confusing ..im learning to shot the one way ..but here is the worlds best archer doing different :S ...someone help to clarify?

  • wheres gimli???

  • i didnt know this is how they shot recurve bows competitively... can anyone explain the follow through or whatever please? and really just her form? thanks!

  • Hi. Could someone tell me what the typical shooting ranges are for target. Also, are compound bows generally more accurate than recurve?

    Thanks

  • Does anyone have a list of the equipment she uses, and the draw-weight on those limbs? It looks like she may be using a Winstar II riser.

  • Their grip muscle are relaxed, so that way more accurate!!! That's why they fall down after shooting.

  • Lajos Kassai is the best!

  • why do they let the bow fall after the shots?

  • byron fergeson is the best n world can shoot a asprin in mid air a drop of water an arrow into another arrow no sights no help only skill he will take on anybody thats got the sand

  • yes, and how many times have you watched him perform his ultimate skills in person, when he doesn't get to re-do the shot if it failed for his video's? He might be a good archer, but the distance he shoots at is way less than this, and besides: aiming with a sight is NOT different from aiming without. When you don't have a sight , you aim by looking along the arrow and estimating the distance, just as with a sight. The only difference might be that a sight can be fixed, whereas an arrow can't.

  • @Sarthex actually, you dont aim down the arrow, you use the arrow as a reference point and then instinctively (given the name 'instinctive' shooting) adjust the tip of it to where you think it will hit. eventually you dont even look at the arrow anymore, you just know. shooting with sights is WAY different, and WAY easier. Yet I will always prefer instinctive.

  • bullshit the best recurve archer in the world is byron fergeson can shoot a asprin in mid air no sights no help cheak him out best in world no sweat take on any challenger put up or shut up

  • @angel32acp I agree that byron is the best archer on the planet.. But you sound like an idiot because Byron shoots a longbow, not a recurve.

  • @lilticklez listen up u fukn lil tick what a fag name iman idiot ur a idiot recurve or longbow most say they are the same so suk it bitch and thats a messed up pic on ur page lilticklez u fag!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @angel32acp ...... you obviously do not speak english well.. haha As an archer I can tell you that a recurve bow and a longbow are completely different.. thats not debatable... A longbow utilizes a D shape to get its kinetic energy while a recurve bow utilizes a reflex design to get its kinetic energy... There are hybrid longbows which have some similarities to a recurve, but when it comes down to it, a recurve and longbow are two totally different designs. You juts got owned, little one.

  • @angel32acp Where do they say that? in your 3rd grade class?

  • try doing it without sights, there's many archers who are better

  • Do you even do archery? There's not many archers who are better than her. And what's wrong with using a sight?

If using a sight is cheating then, anchoring is cheating too and so is checking your grip and checking the string position on your fingers, checking the string picture etc.

  • Comment removed

  • maybe she's the world's best recurve archer by title, but she is NOT the world's ACTUAL best recurve archer.

  • koreans win in archery, its just natural ^_^

  • She is.

  • lol @ curtis what a retard

  • @curtiskid101 thats why she is a pro and your a loser at a computer calling her a retard sounds like you have it ass backwards retard

  • @ only the weak: what area? thats not a very specific question..

  • what is she doing with the bow after she has shot the arrow? she releases it or something like that but why?

  • it is just something koreans do. it is part of their technique. :)

  • It's just stupidity.

  • well ur not supposed to grip the bow so when the arrow is shot the bow releses stress and fall and its tied to her hand so she just grabs it

  • @Reverzi Its called follow through.

She doesnt grip the bow, it merely rest in the Y of her hand, the release of the arrow causes the bow to jump out of her hand, and thus fall/rotate.

Your grasp may torque the bow on release and throw off the arrow.

  • drops the arrow rest away so that it doesn't interfere with the flight of the arrow immediately after release.

  • Not correct. The arrow leaves the bow way too quickly for it to be possible. Any movement at that time would completely screw the shot.

A properly tuned setup will produce no contact anyway.

  • wow very unique technique

  • Comment removed

  • Hey dont give us koreans crap for being better at archery. We have always been good at it. When you guys were using wood for your bows we were using horn that shot farther and stronger. "Oh yeah the spin is for a stable shot.

  • @procorean. Thats absolute crap!. koreans are on top of the world at the moment, But this hasnt always been the case. 25 years ago USA were the ones always at the top. So to say that is actually unfair. What is true, is Koreans do have an incredible training and development program which produces the best. This is why they are currently on the top of the world..

  • I agree with what you're saying SuperNipps and I'm absolutely disappointed that there are people as ignorant as procorean around.

  • @SuperNipps

In what area are we talking about?

  • @SuperNipps Cut and paste criteria and the world can have 3 million different "Best in the World" archers. This goes for every sport category. Don't sulk so much....

  • The archery instincts has been written in Korean DNA. So we must concern who can take the second podium in any championships. Its real ability not from gifted.

  • I guess there is one thing in the world that women can beat men! Good job ladies, keep it up.

  • In my opinion, he's not that great, his usage of the equipment is great.

If he can shoot that good without all that fancy equipment I'll give him props.

  • @kitsune511 exactly what I was going to say. No sights, no stabilizers. and she's not a he btw just kinda looks like a he or a he/she.

  • Hm?

If you check my comment, I said "he" and never referred to him as a girl.

  • @kitsune511 my mistake...you must not have been talking about Park then.....youtube is kinda slow on getting replys under the comments they are meant for.

  • @kitsune511 it's a she.. read the description.

  • @kitsune511 i think ur referring to the archer as a man. park sung hyun is a women. lol

  • @kitsune511 It's a girl dumb ass. And she appears to be using normal equipment. I don't see anything overtly fancy for a competition grade archer.

  • Everyone vote kitsune down, for shear stupidity. If you know nothing about archery, why bother to post in the first place for an archery related video?

  • Byron Ferguson has skill, but he's an old fart... Park is the best in the world hands down. If Ferguson is so good, then why hasn't he won worlds and Olympics yet?

  • cuz he doesnt shoot a recurve? btw i dont think he joined any world games. if he joined, he would own everyone with his traditional bow. hes better at traditional bow than others with recurves and all those fancy equipments

  • BULLSHIT.

  • This is olympic style recurve archery where the game is all about extreme accuracy and consistency, not trick shot archery.

No offense but if Byron could shoot olympic style recurve as consistently as her he would've won the olympics long ago.

  • Good explaination.I cant even explain that to superman1814.

  • You've got to laugh at the comments on her form.... First recurve archer in the world to shoot a 1400....

  • She let's the bow drop and (I assume) lets a "bow sling" on her hand catch the bow. She does this to prevent the bow from altering the arrows flight due to contact with the arrow.

    -1 for the stabilizer, though.

  • @battousai9439 dropping the bow like that could be part of the muscle memory to mindset the next shot as well.

  • The compound bow is for lazy people.

  • cool y is her bow like tht?

  • why does her bow do that??

  • thought she dropped the bow nice follow through. ; )

  • Try the compoundbow,

  • Comment removed

  • 25" Samick Agulla Ultra

  • Hamma gut, sehr gute Schützin...5 * * * * *

  • why do competition archers let the bow fall away like that?

  • The goal is not to affect the arrows flight in any way possible. Gripping the bow will torque it and affect the flight. Lightly cradling it and allow it to follow through the shot will minimize the archers influence on the arrow path making for more accurate shots.

  • follow through.

  • it has kinda titts...so it must me a she ;D

  • is it a he or a she ?

He works like a machine gun....
