They haven't set a date yet, because they have one more test to do. I have a heart arrhythmia problem, so they want to do a test to make sure I'm fit to do the surgery. I don't know why. I had gall bladder surgery last year and didn't have any problem. More money I guess. LOL. I'm glad you're doing well and thanks for the good wishes.

I'm so glad I watched your video. I've gone through the same things you've gone through, including the physical therapy, the tests and all that. I have a nasty shooting pain down my right arm. They decided do surgery. A double disc fusion. But they are going to use cadaver bone instead of my own bone, so no hip surgery, thank God. Your video is really great about showing what I have to go through post op. I know you posted this a while back. How are you doing now? Did it fix the problem?

Thank you for this informative video. I also just woke up one day with severe pain in my neck and down my left arm. After steroids and Vicodin, I could still barely use my left arm (I am left handed). My MRI was done last night and they called with the results today stating I have spinal degeneration in several discs resulting in pinched nerves. My doctor now wants me to see an orthopedic specialists and I am being scheduled for a nerve study. Hopefully, I won't need surgery.

im doing really well thank you. Had my double discectomy about six weeks ago, was kept in for three days just to make sure every thing was ok. I knew as soon as i came out of surgery that it had worked as the pain had gone. I had difficulty swallowing for a couple of weeks but my recovery gets better every day. What suprised me mostly was the fact i didnt have to wear a collar and i was walking around a couple of hours after the op.

How strange is it, usually the donor site her hip will experience more pain now than her neck, my advice is to use a cadaver part, I had acl surgury & they used my own patella man i'm sorry I didn't choose a cadaver, the site where they took it from is worse than the actuall tear go figure.

All the pain meds she mentioned are crap, where is the oxycodone thats by far the best, since it's a schedule 2 Dr's are more cautious is prescribing it, hydrocodone is basically what she mentioned besides the crappy codein, ask your doctor for oxy's

Your video was such an insperation to me. ive had anterior cervical discectomy on c5/6 and 6/7 three weeks ago and im so glad i did. I watched your video before surgery and it put my mind at ease. After only three weeks i feel like a different person with no radial pain.

The community health center referred me to a Physician Assistant who told me my MRI was normal for a woman my age(50) and that my problem was not from my spine. He gave me an injection of baclofen and when that didn't work he cracked my neck. That is the WORST thing you can do when someone has herniated discs and spinal stenosis. Needless to say I never went back. I have since been told by other PROFESSIONALS that I have a serious problem.

I also wanted to add that I don't have insurance so this whole time I've been trying to get in to see someone who will take me on a self pay. Since I am self pay the specialists won't see me without reviewing my case. So I'm hoping that the pain doc can refer me if I do need surgery and they will accept me. I have the state indigent program so anything done in the hospital will be covered-it's just getting a doc to see me that bites. Also, do NOT let anyone manipulate your!

I woke up in pain on June 21. I have 2 herniated discs and spinal stenosis because of the discs, My spine canal is 5 mm in one spot and 6.6 mm in another. I've tried several pain meds like you and none worked. Plus PT-the last session she made me to am exercise that hurt like hell so I stopped going.

Now I'm seeing a pain specialist who told me that I probably will need surgery but he's going to try the cortisone injections first.

Hi all im from the caribbean and i got a fall in 2003 which messed up the c5,6and 7 disc, i got a surgery which corrected the c5 c6, bone was taken from my hip and placed in my neck and i also has screws and a titanium plate but still in intense excruciating pains bcuz the c7 still needs surgery,i often have to make visits to the hospital bcuz of that and medication call it i have taken but its like the body is resisting so can anyone give me any ideas on what to do next. I had a 4 level C-3 through C-7 cervical spinal fusion surgery with allograft.. this was done April 12 This resulted in three plates and 8 screws.. I am now looking to have posterior cervical spinal fusion again C-3 through C-7 to be done 13 September. I am not looking forward to this as i am to have two rods and more plates and screws placed in my neck.

@JJackeeeeee ES!! i was in severe accident. work comp only "played' with me and never did more than "conservative measures" to help me. i went to my choice of Dr the end of may 2010. They immed took me off the road and put me back into countless pt and then pain management. the surgeon saw me 6 mos after the orig appt in Aug of 2010 and stated that i had gotten worse...He then sched me for immed Anterior and posterior cervical spinal fusion. he stopped after the anterior portion..

@JJackeeeeee because He thought that the work that he had done would be sufficient to correct the problem. It was not, and i ma now scheduled for the posterior. Jackee, i had three herniated discs in my neck and a reverse curve in my cervical spine due to this accident. so part of the corrective measures are to place the two rods and more plates and screws because i am still with issues regarding peripheral neuropathy in both arms and hands. Hi Jackee, My name is Gwen and i'm 11 years old. On August 2nd i dove head first into my uncles swimming pool. I went straight to the hospital and got X-rays done. I waited 2 hours then got a cat scan because the X-rays came out abnormal. I was told i had a hairline fracture in my C5. I was so scared,I was driven by ambulance to John Hopkins Pediatric Emergency Room. i got there around 2:00 Am and was give lots of medication through an IV. I Got back home at around 6 AM. Hi Jackee, I had an anterior cervical discectomy and fusion on July 19th. So far feeling not too bad. But some some discomfort in between my shoulder blades and right arm. Don't know how long that will last. I left the hospital earlier to because I couldn't sleep either and was very anxious there. OUCH taking abone from your hip is not good. I just had the same surgery 4 weeks ago and they used cadaver bone instead of hip bone. They say recovery time is quicker. I heard people say the hip hurts more than the surgery and takes forever to heal. Well for me, i did the overnight at the hospital and im doing great. C4 C5 and C6 was my problems. I had a prescription for pain med and to be honest i took half a pill on the first day and another half on the second and haven't taken another since.

God Bless YOU! But keep going girl. I had C4-5 done on 1 December 09, and I'm glad to say that it was well worth it! Having a strong family for you helps more than most realize.

I recently was cleared medically to return to flying and was requalified last week! To be sitting in an airplane with the best view after being out of it for 8 months was worth the wait and pain!

It get's better with time, just make sure to TAKE the time to heal. No roller derby until next year ok? ;-)

OMG, I know what you mean about no sleep in the hosp, they COME while you just getting back into that sweet sleep; after waking you up 'umpteen' times before! LOL! I had that in 2005 but it cleared by itself up don't know how. My supervisor had it and she said hers cleared up after she bought some great pillows with neck support. Hers was in her neck as well and mine was in my left shoulder blade. I pray for a speedy recovery! Hugz!

@2luvlikidz thank you so much for your prayers. Yes, they kept waking me up just as I was getting back to sleep. so I asked the dr. to please let me go home and he did. THANK U JESUS. YOU AND YOUR SUPERVISOR HAD A PINCHED NERVE AND DID NOT HAVE TO HAVE SURGERY. I WAS IN SO MUCH PAIN I FELT LIKE CUTTING MY ARM OFF. I COULD NOT DO ANYTHING. KEPT GOING TO THE ER. IT WAS TERRIBLE. I FEEL PRETTY GOOD NOW. HAVE TO WEAR THE BRACE FOR 3 MONTHS.

girl i feel ur pain..for real..i had a anterior cervical fusion with a titanium plate in oct 2009 c3-7..my 4th back surgery...just relax and it will get better..using the computer will hurt ..the only relief i got was lying on my back with a heating pad..any questions let me know
