In Islamic theology Martyrs are those who die fighting against those who fight against them and do not initiate war (Surah al-Baqara 2:190) and fight to save innocent men, women and children who are persecuted (Surah an-Nisa 4:75).

Your statements are based on misinterpretations of the Holy Qur'an. Yes, the Holy Qur'an does say martyrs will go to Heaven. But how do you define martyr.
In Islamic theology Martyrs are those who die fighting against those who fight against them and do not initiate war (Surah al-Baqara 2:190) and fight to save innocent men, women and children who are persecuted (Surah an-Nisa 4:75).

Continuing from the previous comment, the Holy Qur'an does not say that those who do not follow Allah (SWT) have their hands and feet cut off.
What it says is that the punishment for those who fight against Allah (SWT) and his Messenger and strive to create terror in the land, is execution and crucifixion and the cutting off of their hands and feet (Surah an-Nisa 5:33).
Read the verse, friend. It only refers to terrorists. They hanged Saddam, didn't they. It refers to people like him.

Eye for an eye is only meant to maintain balance, justice and security.
However if anyone forgives the criminal, it will serve as a blessing to him and increase his blessings in the hereafter (Surah al-Ma'idah 5:38-40).
There is full concept of reconciliation in Islam. Whether black, white, Arab, American, Chinese, poor, rich or famous the believers are a single brotherhood judged only on righteousness (Surah al-Hujarat 49:10, 13)

Cool - Now live by it.. There is such a feeling among myself and many others that so many people don´t believe in the power of forgiveness is causing the world to fall apart. Jews can´t forgive the Holocaust, Arabs can´t forgive the crusades, and Americans can´t forgive 9/11... At some point, someone needs to break out of that circle...

I know. They should learn to forgive. Does vengeance do any good? Do all the dead people become alive because of revenge? No.
The only reason to go out and fight is to make sure those criminals do not commit such a crime again, but if they repent, then they should be forgiven. That is the Islamic rule.

The difference is that in the first strike, the person attacks an innocent person. In the second strike, the guilty person is attacked.
It is not bad. It is a way of justice and security.

Indeed, women deserve rights equal to men. Khomeini himself said that they have equal rights to men, rights to vote, to own property, to enter parliament, to teach and to have jobs. The only thing is that they have to wear Hijab, for their protection against wicked lustful men.
Men also have conditions, for instance, they cannot wear gold, silk and ear rings. The rights are equally balanced.

I think what ordinary people liked about him was his humbleness and his ability to relate to ordinary people. The Shah was trying to make Iran into a secular state by force, so Khomenini was a choice of protest against the Shah. Also American meddling in Iran made Iran adopt more of an anti US stance. I think Khomeini was demonised by the western media. But then this is nothing new for them!

After his return Khomeini said: The islamic government will pay every citizen a $1000 dollars a month from the oil money that Shah waisted. Also two years after the Iraq war had started, the Arab league offered to pay Iran for damages, if Iran accepted peace. He refused, saying Iran should occupy Baghdad!. This is just 2 of many intentional mistakes he made. This shows his non ability to diffrentiate between real world & religious crap! Thanks for US constitution: seperation of church & state.

The military commanders, & members of the cabinet had told him: Iran does not have the equipment & weapons systems to occupy Baghadad or Basreh & remove Saddam. His reply was: with our faith we can over come that issue. So he refused the peace treaty. We all saw that few years later, he came to accept the commanders recomandation, and finally agreed with the cease fire. But this time, no money for damages to Iran was paid by the Arab league, and thousands of Iranians had lost their lives.
