The music never gets old! Shame the random music picker decided not to play the 3rd song variation in this vid though.
Also, it's ridiculous to think that this game from 1987 managed to get the ball physics so "right" - better than most if not all of the clones out there today!
Oh, anyone ever noticed that the horizontally moving ship thing (which looks like a head) will drop a bomb if you press fire? With this technique you can also score powerups. I only noticed this recently. What a depth of design! :)))
@marcusanakonda A true Krakout fanatic! :) Hmm, press fire, does it matter when you press fire? I thought pressing fire only controls special powers such as missile and releases ball when glued to bat. Also holding fire affects moving speed of the bat.
OH GOD, Krakout! XD I remember my friend and I used to play this all the time just to hear the second song! ILU whoever you are for making my day more full of awesome.
Man, I remember that feeling of excitement when seeing some fancy intro to a game. It could be anything ! then it turn out to be some simple game a'la tetris. still, played it for hours.
@raxqak I guess I'm late with this comment, but you should shoot the ball to the back and let it bounce (if you're lucky, it will bounce forever, making you lots of points and lives). The thingie that appears inside the box will randomly move around and break the tile it collides with. The blue ball will also turn into such a bomb after a while.
The music is this game is just genius. Remember I sat and played this most of the way through one night as a kid. Had to be quiet as hell not to wake my parents :p
Damn , not even god knows how many hours i spend playing this game when i was young , i mean like 22 years ago (looks soo far away) and i still loving the music of this game .
Sad as it may sound this is a game that will stay in my head as long as i live, haven't played it for a billion years but if i could right now i would, believe me !! Ben did such a good job with the music, i just wish some people around now could understand the difference between composition with the sid and using pc software in the present day. The last ninja music is my very favourite and always will be, it's in a class of its own !!
The level warp was a ship that appeared on the top of the playing area, the player should catch it with the bat. There was another weird creature which appeared at random, and which was similar to a "Space Invaders" alien, that appeared in the middle of the screen heading fast towards the player: if caught, it gave a random bonus (a level warp, an extra life, and so on)!
Great game! Thanks for the reply, this game deserves to be played (watched, in this case!) from start to finish (though it's very long!) just to see how many features they put inside it! Yes, that crunching ball is very very annoying! :)
Most of the levels are very similar in content, except for the arrangement of the tiles. I would believe that most of the stuff should be in this video.
However, there's some more enemy types and a level warp special (if I remember correctly) as in Arkanoid.
@einokeino303 It has a level similar to the first level in Arkanoid too, but rotated with 90 degrees of course. :) I managed to play all 100 levels on my good old C64. The blue ball eater, the charging sphere and the bees were the most annoying things in this game. :))

I remember the small little blue ball who eats your ball if you're not careful enough, real annoying buggers.

@krumpkrumpkrumpkrump: Sorry, no chance: Once the ball-buster got you, you'll lose a life. This was the most annoying monster in the game.

After "Thing on a Spring" definitely the greatest music I've heard in a C64 game. =D Thanks, man!
