I believe school figures should return, but as a separate medal category. It would help the skaters while NOT keeping remarkable talents like Midori's off the podiums.
I also think she suffered from the same bias that sometimes held back Elvis Stojko, not having that long, lean image that the judges seemed to like.
She had more technical difficulty in her exhibition than Witt and Thomas had in their actual free programs. At least today's judging isn't quite as corrupt as it used to be.

確かみどりさんは＜フリー１位＞の５位じゃなかったでしょうか。
サマランチ五輪会長が「ＭＩＤＯＲＩをＥＸに・・・」ってことで急遽でたんですよね。彼女のジャンプは「高い」し、ほとんどミスしない「安定感」がありました。
みどりさんがフィギュア競技のルールを「変えた」んですからね！

当時は上位３名しかエキシビには出られなかったけれど、お客さんの人気が高いので特別に選ばれた。でも、本人は知らずに選手村まで戻ってしまった。そこに「エキシビに出て欲しい」と連絡が入り、あわてて引き返した結果、大トリになってしまった・・・だったような記憶がある。

EXでは芸術性の高く柔らかさを見せるという

In the past 25 years, I have never seen another female skater of her talent, and I doubt we'll ever see another skater of her calibre ever again.

As far as I'm concerned, she's one of the most beloved skaters (talent and personality) I've ever seen, in my 30 years watching the sport.
