Has become easier to listen to his music-still hard to believe he is gone.
Had the pleasure of listening to him, seeing him perform, and actually meeting him a number of times. Once in Chicago I said to my friend Bob (while taking picture with John) "This is better than Ernie Banks". Denver cracked up -- he got it -- gave me a low ten and explained
" Man you just made my day!!"
His songs will always be on my mind and in my heart. Danny
I've been a fan of John's from the beginning. I still mourn for him. His music, his legacy and memory will live on in the hearts of millions around the world forever. He was a truly gifted man and shared that gift with all of us. John's music was a reflection of the beautiful mind and heart that he had. I went to many of his concerts. He was a great entertainer. John never failed to thank everyone who put on the show even the people who prepared the dinner and stage crew. I miss him too.
lovely video tribute to John! Thanks for sharing, we all were very lucky to have him in our lives, if it was through personal relatonship,or through his one of a kind very soothing, beautiful music! God blessed us! Miss you & love you John!
Thank-you for sharing your faovrite pictures. I have listened to John all my life & love his beautiful smooth voice. He used God's gifts to him to the fullest. Caring to save wolves, eagles, whales & ocean life & many more. Touched many lives & hearts* May God bless John's memories forever.~~~Ava~~~
I was sitting in Robata's in Carmel when I turned around & there was John sitting & smiling. I said, "Hi John, how are you?" He just smiled with his hat & round glasses on. His plane crashed in Pacific Grove shortly after that.
I taught myself how to play the guitar in 1972 on Rocky Mountain High. I had the privledge to see him in concert 17 times when he came to Michigan. I used to sleep at night with John Denvers Greatest Hits playing on repeat on my stereo in high school. Wore that record right out. As I would play his songs, I used to dream about writing songs I could leave for after I was gone. He has done just that. He through his songs will live forever. Thanks for posting this tribute to him. It's cool.
John has always been my biggest hero and has touched my heart like no one ever has or ever will. As a little girl and even as an adult I always thought I should marry him. He moves the soul and inspires me to stand up and speak out no matter what others may say. I thank him for all that he has done and all he is still doing to make this world a better place for all the animals and places of beauty by teaching us to love and respect all things living. A true Humanitarian. Thank you for sharing.
Great men like John were born to be legends, and born to die legendary. This man was truely a great man. Bitter though his absence be, engraved in our hearts he will always be. John Denver.
GREAT photos and such a fitting tune as well. My FAV photo from these is JD and the little girl at 2:26- that is SO cute I love it the best of these!!!
It still amazes me how emotional I get when I listen to John's music. I've been a fan since I was a child in the 70's and - as alijeja said - have endured ridicule by those who just don't get it. John was the best - I have his cd's in my car and home to listen at will and pbs dvds so I can watch him perform. I miss him immensely and didn't even know him _ can't imagine how those close to him feel. Thank you for sharing.
What a lovely tribute. Thankyou so much for putting it up. I am a very late comer to youtube and to be honest hadn't really expected to find much about JD in here, given the amount of ridicule I receive whenever I say I am a JD fan! His music has pretty much been the background of my life and I admit I am envious of your friendship with him ;). Thankyou for sharing and if that is you singing, well done, it was lovely.
Oh well done with this beautiful tribute. I was 7 years old in 1970 when my big brother bought "Rhymes and Reasons" I memorised the whole LP and have been a JD fan ever since. A life lived to the full, and friends all over the this earth. Sweet!
JDsAspen, you've gotta know that you are so lucky to have personally known him. I wish I could have met him just to thank him for doing all he did with his music.
I was always so impressed with the way John treated his fans.He would write hand written notes back,or have drinks with them-he never stopped remembering he was a human being.A friend wrote to tell me a mutual friend in hospital wrote to John, and John visited him-and paid his 100 000 dollar hospital bill without being asked. This never makes the press, which is a shame.
I was lucky enough to attend a Dever concert in Austin, Texas at the Drum. During what most would call an intermission...John sat on the stage and sang a played acapello for about 15 minutes...It was a treasure.
I loved his music since '72. I went to 23 of his concerts -- I have all his albums, 8-tracks, and CD's. On the day he died - through tears - I promised him that I would plant 5,000 trees in his honor -- in the Chattahoochee National Forest near Atlanta, Georgia. Completed July 2005.
October 12 is hard - October 13, 1999 is wonderful -- the day my twin daughters (Jessie Belle and Anna Katie) were born!!
To live in the hearts of those you leave behind - is to never die! I miss him dearly!
Hey Sis, what a wonderful and touching tribute to your John. I remember seeing all your scrapbooks and memories...you are a very lucky woman for have knowing John. I'm from Colorado and never got to see him in concert...I always said, "one day" then one day never came and he was gone way too soon. One of my biggest regrets in life. Well done Sis...very nice! Are u the Aussie fan who couldn't get tickets or something in 1975,& JD got some 4 u & became a friend & ur kids called him "Uncle john"?
If u are,I was v. touched by your story.
So many stars treat their fans like s***,(e.g M Jackson,NEVER reads fan mail & calls 'em"f***ing fans")so I thought it was so cool that a fan could actually become a friend of JDs.
We all miss him from singapore! almost ten years when the whole learnt of the news of his passing....his songs have touched billions worldwide....our growing up fill with his song....
Thanks for sharing! My dearest ambition was to meet him. Just never got the chance - not here anyway.

Right after he died, it hurt so bad to hear his music. I seen him riding his motorcycle around Garden of the Gods and other places in Colorado.
He was a great man.

I really miss John Denver. He was great. I can't believe it's been almost 10 years and I'm still so sad.

The tribute was just beautiful and is as it should be. It came directly from her heart...and, by the way, "friends" is not John's song.
