  • At least he got a rose. :P

  • man eric johnson is soo much better live :D, amazing performance and great vocals for his age :D

  • What an awesome song. I have this on my Crossroads DVD, and I used to watch it over and over when I was a lot younger. Eric Johnson is a great instrumentalist and artist. Thanks for posting!

  • eric si que cantas bien¡

  • Holy shit! Eric Johnson can sing?!

  • @liquidman2

    hahaha

    Of Course my friend!!

all the great an awesome musicians not only play amazyng, the sing, too

  • the drummer is from step brothers :D

  • @Ronaldino150 totally it's John C. Reily haha!

  • He is so wearing that outfit from the inspiration of his hero Hendrix.

  • i dont care if this guy sings about turds with these solos

  • Ah Eric johnson... and your fucking demonic pinkie! O_O

  • @Muzlalilulelogreyfox

The Demonic Pinkie Trio: Eric Johnson, Paul Gilbert, and Buckethead XD

  • i like this drummer much better than the black pineapple drummer.

  • Con todos mis respetos hacia el maestro Eric Johnson, esta interpretación me parece muy mala. Amo esta canción y prácticamente no respeta el patrón de solo que hace en la versión de estudio. Decepción.

  • his hands are shaking... i blame the crowd

  • rock the fuck out of them drums dale

  • @tannerleudy36 bwahah thats what i was thinkin

  • un virtuoso disculpen

  • eric johnson es un virtuoso de la guitarra

  • The drummer looks like Dale from StepBrothers

  • @SinOfDrkness i think the same

  • never knew johnson sang

  • always sang,I followed him from 1990, great all around.........

  • @D0WNGOESFRAZIER haha totally thought the same thing!

  • He makes this look ez

  • he actually sings pretty well

  • so many thoughtful comments today...

    here there and everywhere!

    must be in the music...

    always with me...

  • best dvd ever!!!

  • that crowd looks bored out of their minds LOL

  • eric you are my hero!

  • i got the album :)

  • I think that shirt might might be the gayest thing I have ever seen lol. <3 Eric.

  • @spaden2112 you're the gayest person i've never seen

  • it's funny how visually EJ looks like someone who just studied guitar in this video, the way he strum kinda look stiff, but what he produce in this song are just pure epic craziness...

anybody feel that EJ is coming from out of space? hahaha..

  • Chris Maresh is raping his bass...

  • Wow I did not know Eric Johnson can sing!

  • @vampiroangelico yeah; i've always thought it was someone else on the album versions...

  • He sings really good

  • WEAK CROWD

  • @keithcibbbs TOTALLY what the hell is wrong with them?

  • Comment removed

  • that solo is Epic!! and how he makes the guitar talk as he walks around, \" 5Stars "/ man 5 stars...

  • i dont know if antbody noticed this, but this is the first time iv'e seen EJ played desert rose like a beginner.. maybe hes tired or the crowd was getting to him.. but i still like this video. it reminds me that EJ is still mortal.

  • @divinesessions2010 I don't know about a beginner but anyone who plays live and works as a musician will tell you that some nights your fingers just don't work. I can name a few times myself.

  • @MrElfro89 I've been playing guitar for 15 years and can definitely say that I've had my share of "off" days. The worst is when I'm in the studio and being dead on really matters but my fingers seem to think differently.

  • @divinesessions2010 I was there it was like 110 degrees that weekend. It was brutal hot.

  • eric johnson.... maaan....what more can you say about the guy. he can sing play amazing guitar. thank god the first music he ever heard was howlin wolf.... and not mc hammer

  • @divinesessions2010 He's pretty old now, if MC Hammer was the first music he heard, he must have been deaf for 20 years lol

  • some of the best guitar solo-phrasing i've heard, this dude is probably one of the most underrated guitar players and musicians, well, people that actually play guitar well enough know of him, but if u ask any one of your other friends they've probably never heard of him, pretty damn disappointing when he can write music like this..

  • 2:22 - 2:30 Eric Johnson's shirt was so loud he couldn't hear his guitar.

  • Wow... When i was listening to this song on Ah Via Musicom, i initally thought that there was a different person singing this song. My thoughts were "There is no possible way that this song's guitar and vocals are both by the same man." Now that i have seen this video, i am 100% convinced that Eric Johnson is a genious. Amazing voice, and almost unplayable guitar riffs all in one man. And Lil Wayne gets all the publicity... Fuck mainstream man

  • Nice shirt :) looks confy

  • @D0WNGOESFRAZIER LMFAO was about to say that too.

BOATS N HOESSS, BOATS N HOES

  • danke fürs video schnüf wer will mit mia

  • before now, i had no idea that Eric could sing!

  • @menace391 and do it great too!

  • @jonasbrosshalldie yeah, i alway thought he was an instrumentalist artist

  • @menace391 most of the instrumental artists dabble in singing for some reason. He does more then the ohers because he can actually sing decently :D

  • thas why i said probably.. haha what you are saying is true though, you can't really define best because there are so many variables to consider like playing style, influences, methods, etc. i totally agree i didnt mean literally im just saying this dude can play.

  • that's what i would personally consider a badass, live, 24 bar solo.

  • I love when he almost sticks his guitar into that amp for a little bit of feedback. Eric rules!!

  • Haha I love Eric's texas accent talkin about Howlin Wolf-- Howlin "Woof"

  • man this dude can sing too...shit.. i always thought he had someone else singing for him like santana does....erics voice is great he should do more singing his tone is kinda of eddie moneyish....very cool...i've always loved his stuff

  • fucking badass. i tell people all the time that this guy is probably the best guitarist on the planet...they never understand why. stupid people i tell ya.

  • @21ejc There are an awful lot of guitar players that can play rings around Eric in various areas. None of them however are better at playing and writing music like Eric Johnson. What matters is what a given player is good at and their ability to channel their own creativity. Guitar playing (and music) is a large table, and everyone has something to bring to it. There is no 'best'.

  • @JRBain7 a human being couldnt say it better

  • @RidleyEater Thanks man, genuinely means a lot. :-)

  • @D0WNGOESFRAZIER

    Damnit!

You totally beat me to that comment 9 friggin months ago!

  • it's fine that he changes up the solos every time he plays his songs, but I do miss the awesome feedback on the studio version desert rose...doesn't work nearly as well without it (EJ tries, but rarely gets good feedback live)

  • hah! he wont play the F on the low E string! too hard...

  • Too bad this drummer cant keep meter with most of his fills/rolls. Is this the same drummer on the original Cliffs of Dover??

  • @elbowout Yes.

  • i love this song since..but is that tommy taylor on drums?

  • @janrey79 Yes, that is indeed Tommy.

  • one of my fav:song

  • guitar sounds out of tune...but damn he EJ can play

  • 4:56 most awesome rising scale EVER!

  • no matter who posted this video, he can only be a naruto fucktard fan (read description & tags)

  • this is the first video i saw of him singing and i remember saying "oh ofcorse, since he's really good at guitar now he thinks he can sing like everyone else" but when i heard his voice i was like :O ....nvm, showd my ass up xD

  • @SinOfDrkness oh yah dude. on his cd's he sounds like friggin bryan adams and I think everyone would admit he can sing.

  • Fuck Kayne West.that no talent douchbag. E.J. is tops in my book.

  • Brillante!!! Que lindo timbre de voz tiene el forro... y de la viola bueee ni hablar!!!

  • This man's sound never ceases to amaze me, it is so pretty, so nice, round, full.

  • who plays this song in original? which song is it??

  • @tomiclav he does

  • @aidanmoore2 oh silly me xD it sounds so vintage that i thought it was a cover....great song!!!

  • @tomiclav It's his song from the "Ah Via Musicom" album released in 1990.

  • I didn't know he could sing...good voice

  • Don't take this the wrong way, I seriously can't tell. Does his voice sound slightly autotuned? or is he actually singing that way? Again, don't take it the wrong way, I'm just wondering if anyone else is hearing what I'm hearing. I've never heard him sing before, either.

  • @PumpkinlordEzmar well listen to more of his stuff. its hard to distinguish between album and live. unless he plays a different solo they sound practically identical. other than some slight distortion on the video this sounds just like his studio version.

  • @PumpkinlordEzmar That's his real voice.

  • what doc is this from ??????????

  • @yootesa1515 Crossroads Guitar Festival

  • nice shirt

    buena camisa

    camisa legal

    schönes Hemd

  • Tommy Taylor is SOOOO underrated! I say him play with Eric when they open for Rush and couldnt believe how good he sounded.

  • Love Eric!

  • my favorite song!

  • i love eric johnston

  • eric's a great guitarist, but he should have followed up with this one by singing more--- thankfully george benson did

  • ej rules!

  • The asshole who made the video all jiggly (soooo "artistic"...) ought to be disemboweled.

  • what are you talking about?

  • I'm talking about the jerky motion of the film. Makes it hard for guitarists - probably most of the people watching this - to see exactly what's going on.

  • yeah thats not on purpose. its youtube. sometimes its like that and others its fine. just keep checking it and it should be back to normal eventually.

  • @AnnihilatingAngel we don't need to see as much as we need to hear what's going on.

  • The whole point of video is to see: hence the name.

  • dang, this is amazing, but i cant do anything important to EJ coz i just end p playing my air guitar...

  • oh fuck, what a song!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • best gutairist ever. even better then kerry king

  • Well, is Kerry King really that good?

  • @blueskidd96

slayer is a really good band so yah he is.

but not as good as eric jonson

  • yea i got this crossroads dvd, and i didnt check out disc two for the longest time.... finally one day i did out of curiosity, and found steve vai, eric johnson, and zz top.... and my mind was legally BLOWN!

  • Why are you SO AMAZING Eric Johnson? I don't know, but I love you!! (L)

  • congrats you have the IQ of a pop-tart :D

  • LOL!

  • yes. lol ftw.

  • wow i never new EJ had a good voice too. oh and the garra joke in the description was freakin hilarious XD naruto sucks though.

  • ahw haha, i just understand what's that joke all about! because it's desert? haha

  • yeah. my friend actually met the voice dub for garra and he is actually pretty weird. she asked him to say something funny and he said "i think...i need to pee". it was kinda funny though :P

  • amazing tone

  • When was this recorded?

  • 2004

  • Woah he can sing too!!!

  • uhh yeah, have you not seen his live in Austin taping? Buy it!

  • I hope Kayne West gets hit by a forklift.

  • And then he comes to his senses, and encourages creativity, and meaning in the rap game, and all the talentless sampling, money hungry women degrading fucks follow in his wake.

  • or by just a fork

  • @jpdidit metalocypce refrence?

  • hmmm dont get me wrong... Eric Johnson is by far my favorite guitarist... but he just seemed a bit sloppy on that solo. I guess everyone is entitled to a bad day... even EJ

  • I agree totally.

  • ill take one of his bad days any day..

  • playing this on frets on fire is a mind-blowing experience. dont forget to try it!

  • I wonder what he thinks about Kanye West.

  • ???????????

  • he probably thinks hes another talentless nigga

  • 3:42 I love that arpeggio. Genius!

  • this song has such creamy solos

  • awesome tone!

  • he's amazing!

    best guitar player ever!

  • lol ive never heard this doode sing!! anyone no any songs he sings in apart frm this 1?

  • yep. search up, Your Sweet Eyes, From My Heart, and My Back Pages. those songs are all from his album Bloom, and its a great album!! its worth listening to!! oh yeah u probably wanna listen to the whole song too cuz the guitar parts a great

  • listen to eric's 'lonely in the night'. reminds me of this song. and this song reminds me of 'lonely in the night' both are on the top of my list for best guitar and lyrics.

  • nothing can keep me from you

  • Google is your friend...and so is YouTube.

  • from his new album "Bloom" there are a few sang songs: "My Back Pages" (nice!), "Sad Legacy", (cool) "From My Heart", "Your Sweet Eyes" (also great) and a few others... Seek those out... Best of Luck ^.^ Hope you really dug the music.

  • So many bands now think that to play a guitar good al you have to do is hit as many notes as you can on the lower frets. It's nice to know that people like Eric Johnson and Joe Satriani still think the guitar's an instrument that can literaly sing if you play it just right. And play it right he does.

  • the guitar speaks too!

    watch BB King... hehehe

  • well said. im an avid eric and joe fan. :)

  • Eric is the best...My favorite

  • Super!!

  • This is a good song, I heard it first a couple of months ago. Might have to get ahold of some more of his music. Wish I'd heard of him sooner, stupid schoolmates!!

  • better than the cd version.

  • wow, ive only a few of his songs, they seem to be pretty hard to find... but this is the first ive heard of him singing, hes got a good voice eh?

  • i've always known he was an amazing guitarist but never knew he was a singer... how much better can this guy get? lol

  • He plays piano too.

  • He plays piano...good !!!

  • john c reilly on the drums

  • boats n' hoes!

  • i have a girls boner for eric johnson.

  • What does that mean? ; )

  • Wtf?

    O_o

  • Damn, I thought he could only play guitar amazing, but now he can sing O_O. Im amazed. Eric johnson and SRV some of the best guitarists ever to live.

  • Wow. He has also got a brilliant voice. I only heard cliffs of dover before this.

  • eric johnson is an amazing musician

  • Yeah to my amazement... I went and see both EJ and Joe Satch at the house of blues in NO 3 years ago and I have to say Mr Johnson brought more of a unique sound

  • number one!!!!

  • He is flawless. His sound was amazing when he rolled through Vegas.

  • I watched and bought the Crossroads fest,, there must be more E J performing here cant believe that EC only gave him one song!

Johnny Mayer was all over the place come on.dont understand that

  • one song?? damn i wouldnt have even agreed to perform.. come ohn! one? nah maube he got a few more but didnt make it on the dvd.. impossible. one song?!? nah..

  • im sure they need to cut a lot for the DVD. i mean its a whole day of music that needs to be made into a couple of DVD's.

  • @4444jcm I didn't know he ever played in the crossroads tour until I saw this.

yeah that's a shame he didn't get more play, even john mayer would admit that.

I'm sure he's got an ej cd from when he was a little kid.

  • Sweeeeet as helll!

  • didn't realise his got so good vocal skills as well

  • wait IS THAT ERIC SINGING?

  • yes, just because the only song you've heard is cliffs of dover which is an instumental, from guitar hero, doesnt mean he doesnt sing

  • perfect!nothing to add!
