He duck and dove as soon as he noticed that shit wasn't what it seemed cause he knew what to expect. He duck right in time too just before Omar fired at him.
@ThatUJohnWayne Twice, Omar shot Wee-BAY and Murdered Stinkum the first time. This was the second and last time the face/off because Omar shortly after this left town and when he returned Wee-Bay was locked up
When Omar and Brother have that stand off and Omar says something like "Even if I miss I can't miss"....Brother should have reminded him about this like "Uh remember when you had the easiest jump on Avon and still couldn't even cap him?"

I think it's very telling in this scene about Omar. Normally he's intelligent and sharp but his emotions got in the way and wanted revenge badly. then he runs away because he realized he fucked up and is reduced to needing help from the police.
Not a well thought out scene...Omar had Avon dialed in...no way he should have missed at that range...Talk about a easy hit gone wrong. Cops should have been chaulkin' Avon up right there. The writers should have at least had an obstacle in Omar's way..that would explain why he didn't cap him when it was easy.

Actullay season 2 was more indepth. It went beyond the streets. But you have your opinion but was more real than season 3, 4, and 5 to me. I just got slept on the most.

So Avon didn't really need a gun, and if he did have one all the time, there wouldn't have been a "The Wire" because he would've got years. Similar to the end of the third season when he was caught with all them guns.

Might have had the sawed off with him, but Weebey interrupted, and so he had to use his pistol, which has better accuracy at that kind of range. No doubt he would have used the shotgun if 'bey hadn't come up when he did.
The real Avon actually made appearances on the show as The Deacon who helped Cutty find work and who gives Major Colvin advice. his name is Melvin Williams.

Avon was the boss, and he already had WeeBey, Bird, and others doing the dirty work for him. So Avon didn't really need a gun, and if he did have one all the time, there wouldn't have been a "The Wire" because he would've got years. Similar to the end of the third season when he was caught with all them guns.

muhfucka wanted to get in the drug game, and wound up sellin to an undercover cop. the cops got him to set Barksdale in a fake drug deal...but the Barksdale's knew better....they shot up Orlando and almost killed Greggs....

Might have had the sawed off with him, but Weebey interrupted, and so he had to use his pistol, which has better accuracy at that kind of range. No doubt he would have used the shotgun if 'bey hadn't come up when he did.
