One of the most awe-inspiring and jaw-dropping performances I have ever seen. Jewel lets it all hang out and jumps off cliffs. I wish non-musicians could understand what she's doing here. She's doing things live that most musicians wouldn't dare try and for the most part she pulls it off flawlessly. So much emotion and raw feeling with such a loose feel. It is truly what music should be.
I remember an import album I bought in 1996 or 1997. This song always touched my soul. I don't know how many times in life I have felt this way. I was happy to see a studio release of this, but as with every other Jewel song, live is the best.
nice just to listen to her voice... usually im really into lyrics as well but here.. i just listen to her voice... she must sing sweet lullabys for her baby. ♥
I don't know how I could listen to Jewel's songs, they are so moving and deep, I would cry everytime. Maybe if I need a good cry and it doesn't seem to come, I could just listen to this song. Definitely inspired by the spiritual.
OMG, it's her uniqness that makes her special and famous...
That baby voice depicts the youth, the innocense, the abused child she was at the hands of her father...and she speaks for others who were innocent and hurting as well....in her songs.
This song gives me chills. What a range Jewel has with her voice. She stretches herself to the limit. I wish I could sing 1/100th as well, not to mention her guitar playing, and her ability to put so much emotion into each and every song. A singer/songwriter, like this, doesn't come along every day. I just can't get enough. She resonates with my soul, like Tim McGraw.
It reminds me of how I liked her affectations on the radio versions of Foolish Games over the those on the album version. The album version sounded like an old woman, but was interesting sometimes, but I preferred the sexier young woman voice on the radio edit, but now's she's gone and made those affections different.
Also I was saying I prefered the radio versions that everyone knows and loves of Foolish Games AND You Were Meant for Me. I don't remember if there was a difference between the album and radio versions of Who Will Save Your Soul or not. Can anyone say for certain if that was Chantal Krevaziuk or Jewel who had that live cover of Wild Horses that was all over the internet several years ago?
I'm a big Jewel fan and everything, but I don't prefer the way the last couple of years when she's starting a song how on the soft quiet parts she kind of does some weird cartoonish voice, especially since she's tried doing country music.but at some point in the song when it gets to the complicated vocals she switches back into her old, normal voice, but it's almost by force of habit, as if the song forces her voice back into normal modeI wish I could tell her about it in person and sing karaoke
I just love Jewel so very much ever, shes the best in the world. angelic voice ever. beautiful music and performances, shes very funny too, i just love her so. very rare unique voice.
Think that her crooked teeth give her more personality. Like is isn't afraid to be different. She stands out. You know what I mean. They help make her who she is. She has an amazing voice! I love her!
oh my gosh! that is so moving. i just watched an older video of her singing that song. for some reason, it seems like it has a deeper meaning to her in this video, or perhaps a more familiar meaning, maybe a lost one. who knows.
I think i just shit my pants!

I think we have all been there. Usually much to our chagrin. It's not "drama"...it is coming to terms before you hit the ground and really get hurt.
