NIntendo has a pretty god advantage here. Its all up to their dumbasses if they want to use it or not.... They better start focusing on hardcore games. I have a feeling that with the Wii U, it will still be the triple A titles that will sell the system. This will be the very first time where Nintendo games will look DRASTICALLY better. I have a feeling that with every new core Nintendo game announcement, we will get hyped. Seeing how the next Smash Brothers will look like for example and stuff will be intense. Nintendo will now have the graphics and online that we want, and they will continue dominating with gameplay inovations. CAN'T WAIT

I think game developers will chill for a good while with this eighth-generation of consoles. You know--sit down and slow their roll to really take advantage of the unique possibilities of the Wii U controller and whatever angle Microsoft offers. The reason why I say that is because HD games that truly utilize the potential of the hardware are taking longer to make. It'd be nice to enjoy a good console for more than 5 years, to just take their time and make good games.

im more worried about the media... IGN, 1up, ScrewAttack, GameTrailers. They affect what everyone will buy. if a game gets bad reviews, people aren't going to waste their money on that. it will get very scary if these media's start getting biased and manipulate people into thinking some truly great is a piece of trash.

I think next gen is going to be about how each consoles innovative experience is used on their exclusives and on 3rd parties. This way you have a different experience of playing that same 3rd party game on a different console since graphics are all in par this time. But I see Nintendo on top next gen with all their great exclusives in HD giving a punch. I think 5 to 7 years for Nintendo's wii u and then an upgrade of the same sys. but offering something new.

I hope single consoles last for decades. I get tired of jumping to new systems. I would expect them to only create a new console generation after the next gen when virtual reality works. lol

But seriously, I think these "core gamers" will have to learn to adapt now. It's inevitable that family friendly gaming is here to stay, and if you don't buy the next consoles just because of this, you will miss out. It's not a curse or anything, you will still get your favourites, but others are there too!

Consoles will last depending on the sales. Sales determine when new systems arrive. I would expect a 5 to 7 year run but it will depend on the consumer.

There's several factors that'll affect the success of new consoles:

1) The consoles' "gimmick"

2) The exclusives (assuming the 3rd party support is basically the same like 360 and PS3 were)

3) Multi-media functionality. Let's face it, consoles are essentially becoming PCs as far as trying to be the one multi-media device that does everything, and that's what people want.

@NZA2 Because consoles are catching up with raw data. They don't really need to push anything other than frame rate and little textures here and there. People think PC gaming is definitive gaming, but it is not! It used to be, but now that PC games look heavily similar to consoles, people are less inclined to play on PC. Dedicated gamers would obviously try and get the best port, but I just don't see a point anymore. It all seems worthless to me.

@Ketorulz consoles arent catching up, PC gaming is slowing down. the best development talent of today see consoles as more profitable, so they flock to xbox 360 and whine about PC piracy. when it comes to artificial intelligence or physics or any other aspect of games, there's no incentive to try harder than what an xbox 360 is capable of.

Well in that case the Consoles need alot of exclusives if all the games would be multiplat then I don´t need a console if I already got a PC.from all the platforms that are out now I would buy a PS3 even if I have a PC becorse they got the most exclusives that interest me and it´s damm hard to emulate PS3 Games!! Nintendo Wii U need new IP´s URGENTLY becorse the whole multiplat games they shown are already out or coming out on every platform. Mocrosoft even worse. almost no exclusives...

@GenaTheGamer if you can play a multiplat on the pc its mostly the better option in most games but the pc doesnt have all the multiplats and also i would much prefer to play arkham city or darksiders with a controller and not a mouse and a keybored yeah i can get a controller for the pc but i already have the 360 or ps3 or wii so why should i bother? also when it comes to competitive online multiplayer if someone have a better mouse/keybored/pc he might kill me only because his equiqment is....

I play all the time with the wireless xbox360 controller(that you got too stick the sensor to your PC) and on my couch on my 42inch screen with 4AA,1080p,low loading times. great sound, no tearing.DX11

Almost all games I play have Controller support and I use the Controller. Darksiders,Crysis2,Dead Island.Battlefield3. Multiplayer yeah there you schold go over to Keyboard&Mouse.

Also the games are really cheap. I pay for Darkness2 and Resident Evil Project Racoon and Max Payne3 56 Euros. Thats cheaper then one game on the console.And this are all new games.

If you got a PS3 and a PC you have the most games that are relevant.And you almost don´t miss out something.

@ronvnkl232 Jupp thats why I bought a nunchuck and a wii mote Plus for 25 Euros and a Sensor.Now I can play those Wii games on my PC and i get them in 720p that looks better then on the wii itself^^ And the wii mote works fine even besides Wii^^

for example:Crysis 2 in 1080P and high qual sound on the Wii!...never gonna hapen? well it works on the PC I played Crysis 2 on my 42inch screen with the nunchuck and it was real fun^^ Same goes for Amnesia its GREAT with Nunchuck to play^^

@ronvnkl232 Well you need to run Xpadder(free program) and you have to calibrate the button funktion but it´s easy as cake^^ I did the same with Mass Effekt 1 and 2 and it works.

You can use the PS3 gamepad aswell on the PC. just need a bluetooth stick so the PC can regonize it and Xpadder.

You see with PC´s Gamers are able to do stuff that aren´t working on the consoles.Thats why I like PC it gives you opportunities to game like on no other platform.

@ronvnkl232 it´s only a matter of time and xpadder program to use the Wii U´s Monitorcontroller for the PC believe me , I could already use one but without the monitor.

Well in Crysis2 you have this option for Autoaim like on all console ego shooters, it aims in the direktion of the enemy if you click it on enable. I aim for the enemy and use the "Laser" of the wii mote the same as my mouse cursor. works really good.No big lagg in use, well not lile mouse on 2000dpi but still good

@ronvnkl232 *lol* no this problem is solved since win7.I instaled my drivers ONCE and thats it. that was 3 years ago. no new updates needed only win7 it it asks "do you want to install new updates?" you press "Yes" and thats it^^. The problem with the specs...well if your PC isn´t older then 5 years almost every game is running on it. maybe not high res but it still works.Why the hell should a game that is also on consoles don´t run on a PC if you put it on lowspecs?

@GenaTheGamer crysis 2 is a good example for a game on consoles that wont nessecerally run on a pc at the same age the reason for it is that the 360 and ps3 cant handle cryengine 2 so crytech made an engine called cryengine 3 which is weaker than cryengine 2 and crysis 2 on consoles uses cryengine 3 and my freind actually tried to play crysis 2 on a 4-5 years old pc and it didnt worked at all

@ronvnkl232 hmmm well I had back then 2Gig ram a dualcore processor and a HD4870 grapricscard from saphire. did work on DX10.Can´t say what exact hardware your friend use.Yes but it took Crytek 4 years till they FINALLY released Crysis for the PS3.

@GenaTheGamer sorry to tell you that but the ps3 bearly have the great sony exclusives of the ps2 such as jack and dexter crash bandicoot and others that sony didnt sticked to and a lot of the exclusives it still had are no multiplats like metal gear finale fantasy and from its new exclusives the only ones that worth my time are resistance and uncharted and little big planet because lets face it modernracer is garbadge and the newer ratchatr and clank games arent as good as their predocessors...

And there coming more this year. and all those games cost me 14-30 € thats not that expensive i think.

@GenaTheGamer part2..... and while killzone is decent there are much better shooters out there so while the ps3 have defently more and better exclusives than the 360 they are not as good as the ps2 exclusives also my prefered gaming set-up its the wii and pc only because i dont want to pay 60 bucks for a game on the ps3 because if the games were the same price i would get a ps3 instead of a pc and playing console games on pc's is piracy which it sucks playing with their controllers......

The mouse is more important but it´s your decission witch one you buy, i think it´s really stupid to buy a 70 $ mouse that can do the same and got less buttons then a 20$ mouse.Well my wii mote would cost NEW 50$ it´s wii mote PLUS and the rubber and a nunchuck all together would cost new 50$ thats expenive too.-----

Well ok most Console gamers use the same controller but there are Controllers with modifications out there aswell. Or you can hook up your laptop to the PS3 and use a Mouse.I already seen that and it´s almost impossible to win against somebody liek that with a controller.

@GenaTheGamer on the 360 you can play with a mouse and a keybored in all games (as long as those are microsoft mouse and a keybored) but on the ps3 there are few games that soppurt it such as unreal tournament 3 and on the wii no game soppurt it overall console gaming is more balanced while pc's still have better performance also i dont need to upgrade my console about every 3 years to keep up with some of the games also pc's dont get all the games a good example would be dark souls

And I am going to be able to play all the new games that are coming out for the new consoles without buying the new Consoles. Next gen I honestly think all of the consoles are going to be on equal footing and the only thing that will set them apart will be exclusives and console features. I think that gaming is becoming increasingly more "mainstream" and people today have been spoiled by "all-in-one" technology and devices that do everything. Whichever one fits peoples lifestyles better will probably get the better support from the general public, gamers, devs etc. Gaming consoles aren't JUST for "gamers" anymore...
