  • Finally got round to drinking this, I was less impressed than yourself Simon I have to say! The aroma was amazing, but I was not a fan of the taste...its a very unusual taste to this ale I think, which is often not a bad thing but it was slightly too 'perfumey' for me (the best I can describe it) I appreciate the history and imagine its nice on cask, but this was a 6/10 for me. I prefer Brains SA Gold.

  • @Cureboy1 I would probably go with the SA Gold over this on cask but in the bottle I find this superb. I tucked 4 away yesterday watching the rugby and to be honest they slid down :) Cheers

  • hi Simon

I like to drink the beer as you review them. But I ve got to say I am not a big fan of this one. Its heavy and I did nt feel like another. Still top review look forward to the next

  • @konan098 I think its even better on cask, the bottle version might be a bit too heavy, if you ever find it on cask let me know what you think, cheers

  • 2:41 you were flipping us all the bird, lol

what style is this? English Bitter?

  • @ChadzBeerReviews Yes a English classic bitter I would go with, very flavoursome, cheers Chad :)

  • Simon when I get a new laptop I'm going to do my own reviews just for fun and I'm going to show my epic bottle cap collection. I have over 1000 ale botle tops lol! Not from 1000 different beers lol but from about 70. I just keep my bottle tops even if it's the same beer. When I'm an old man I will make a massive piece of art with them to do with ale lol!

  • @TheMrAdax Wow a 1000 bottle caps, awsome, where do you keep them all? Perhaps you could make a great big statue of a Hobgoblin, that would be cool, cheers :)

  • Sounds like it's much the same in a bottle as on draught, I'll probaby get a few in if I ever see them. It's nice to have a satisfying beer without a strong hop character.

  • @TheBeebopper Very nice this one, lots to think about, which is always a good sign with a beer, cheers

  • Any chance of you doing any Belgium beer reviews?

  • @HumbleAsTheDust I have done 4 so far, check them out in my previous reviews, cheers :)

  • Sounds like an interesting pint with the spice character. A case of it? Good thing it's an 8 out of 10. Cheers!

  • @StumpyJoeJr Very old beer this one Ryan, like I said like drinking history :) Yeah Brains sent me a 8 pack of Dark, Rev James, SA, and SA Gold, sometimes we call a pack of beer a case, thanks for watching, cheers

  • Something I love about beers from Europe is that the recipes are so old when maybe Dogfish head goes back a little more than 20 years. And really what's more Welsh than Brains? I just think that seeing it on the rugby jersey's for so long.

Next time you're at their brewery tell them to export to the states! lol

  • @nearfall76 I did ask Bill when I was there if they ever exported to the states, he said no, to be honest I think the place is running at maximum capacity, unfortunatly some insurance firm sponsore the Welsh rugby jerseys from this year, sad news isnt it, Cheers

  • Sounds tasty, can't get it where I live in the states. I did pick up a bottle of the Wells Bombardier after your review. Haven't tried it yet because I'm considering starting to do beer reviews, and it's one I'd like to do,

  • @kliljedahl Yeah awsome will look forward to watching some reviews from you, go for it :) Cheers

  • Hello again:) Simon I managed 16 days without ale and couldn't neglect it any longer lol! My god real ale is just the best. I feel so sorry for pathetic lager drinkers. They just have no idea what real beer is. I love tasty beers that don't over do it on extra added ingredients like real chocolate, honey ect because that's cheating to me. A true beer is one that doesn't have to add extra ingredients IMO. Do you know what I mean?

  • @TheMrAdax 16 days, good on you, I think I would die, lol. Yes I know what you mean, the biggest thing that make me laugh is you pay a £1 more in pubs for something with no flavour, try Wetherspoons, a good Ale will cost you £1.90 where a crap Mc Lager will cost £2.90 hahaha fools

  • Keep meaning to try this one as I've seen it in a few pubs in Cheltenham, not got round to it. Will give it a go after seeing this review. How does it compare to Bombardier Simon? From the sounds of it they have some similar aromas/flavours going on....got some more Bombardiers and Waggle Dance's in, on offer in tescos!

  • @Cureboy147 Its quite different to Bombardier, much spicier hey thanks for the tip off with Tesco, im off to buy some Waggle Dance, love it, cheers :)
