Huge respect and admiration for the students of UC Davis. This was powerful, brave and truly admirable. Do not give up protesting guys. With your protests you have helped to only further highlight the deep corruption and excessive nature of the powers that control such things. I tip my hat to you all.
Wow, never realized the power of silence, but when it is by a large group of people, it is awesome! Great, extremely non-violent, tool in the pocket of the '99%.' Really admire those students. Wish I could have been there in person. Thank you!
Here is a quote from Margaret Perry of the Daily Californian - the UC Berkeley campus newspaper.
I have emailed Lt. John Pike, the now infamous cop who begins to pepper-spray students at UC Davis to express my outrage. It’s not enough, but I urge you to do the same at japikeiii@ucdavis.edu. The whole world is watching our campus police, and what it sees is disgusting.
I graduated from UC Davis in 2009. Here are some numbers you should consider. annual UC Tuition (not including books, rent, campus parking, food, printing fees) : '01-'02: $3,429 '02-'03: $3,834 '03-'04: $4,984 '04-'05: $5,684 '05-'06: $6,141 '06-'07: $6,141 '07-'08: $6,636 '08-'09: $7,126 '09-'10: $8,958 '10-'11: $10,302 '11-'12: $12,192 proposed 81% hike by Mark Yudof and the UC Regents would put tuition at over $22,000 by the '15-'16 school year..that's more than $7,000 per 10-week quarter
We, UC Davis students and parents are not upset just because of one incident, we are upset because of the series of incidents caused by Katehi. My daughter and I were stressed this year because of Katehi’s I don’t care students’ safety policy. Her apology sounded so fake because we know her. Since students knew campus cops have been harassing students, I am sure she knew about it. When she called the campus police, she knew what was going to happen. She is the worst chancellor for UC system.
My 99% fellows, it is time we stopped dreaming the American Dream. Start realizing it. What kind of future will a new graduate have if he/she owes tens of thousands of dollars in student loans, and yet has to settle for a ten dollars an hour job at Home Depot, Walmart, or Subway? Will we stay silent on our knees and succumb to the brutal oppression and hardships that the top 1% impose on us? NO, we will stand up and fight to take back our rights as the middle class of America.
Don't look to the US media for help with exposing the movement to the masses. The top 1% have bought the US media with hundreds of billions of dollars in TV commercials. These broadcasting companies will stand on their customers' side, not yours. The owners of Fox, ABC, NBC, ... will sell your children's future and your children's children's future, because their children will inherit billions of dollars from them while your children will drown in debt after graduation.
First of all Mrs. Katechi knew all about this spraying the protesters with this poisonous gas. I won't be surprised if it comes out that she ordered it. She was lying about the accounts of her "walk of shame". The board should feed her to the unemployment line.
The time to help the university and the students get through a difficult time...is over. you handled this by making a HORRENDOUS decision. now its time to quit and leave the students alone.
The Chancellor and the Fuhrer are not responsible. War crimes are allowed. Hitler can have as many Jews killed as he wants. Katehi can have as many people poisoned and brutalized as she wants. Leaders must remain free and must not be held accountable.
NO.
Leaders MUST be held accountable. The Chancellor must resign or be forced out. The same goes for all who had authority over hiring and supervising the criminals who illegally poisoned non-violent citizens. If not, then gas chambers are OK!
I just want to congratulate the reporters at DHS for a great report on the events at UCD. This was well written, well-produced, and better than some of the mainstream media's reporting. Here's hoping this goes viral!

She obviously shows no remorse. She's more concerned about the well-being of her own career above anything her students have to say.

VIOLENCE is a NON-NEGOTIABLE ISSUE. ACHIEVE OR LEAVE mrs Katehi.
