in order to do this song, they had to type all of the sounds in Kana (hiragana/katakana) using the sounds those produce to create the english sounds and words. Then adding the flow to make it sound englishish. This was actually pretty impressive, A B C does not work with Miku for now. just　あびし　is all that works. I look forward to the new English variation, if it sounds close enough I would be even happier.

"She" just plays back pre-recorded syllables as directed by the user. I'm not sure what you're thinking of when you say you've seen her with robot parts. The closest I can think of is the recent "concert" she had, which was just a projection of the avatar onto a transparent screen synced to pre-recorded audio.
