People make a big fuss over this pedal and it's not as bad as people say. It's pretty close to CE2 territory and can be cheaply modded to be outstanding. They are cheap now but prices have been rising. I have a MIJ black knob/label and its a very good chorus ...just shy of great. A steal at $30.
@dvschsa Actually, just looking at the manual now, it says that in Mode II, output A has the modulation, while B is normal.
Also, these are supposedly the *same circuit* as the more analogy CE-2, and can modded for increased depth, less noise, etc. The "wet dream" mod on ebay is the name of one, and there's also another one there by "jfroman" that looks similar.
This pedal sounds brilliant in stereo! But I think it could use the mod. Then it would be an absolutely killer pedal. thx nice demo
@9graff9 it's Boss: "So I went back to some of my old stomp boxes that I had when I was in The Smiths, most of which were Boss. I used to love the white GE-6 equalizer, and the very first light-blue CE-2 chorus that still sounds really good. Ryan (The Cribs) uses one too." (google Johnny Marr Boss pedal, 1st result)
this, its warmer, better quality and sound. They are becoming harder to come across and the small clone makes a little click noise when you engage it. Small clone is good, i just prefer this.
You'd think you'd want midrange, so it makes your sound more pronounced and stand out more. I know on my amps, I have to turn the mids all the way up to be heard above guitar. (I play bass though)
I agree with CHIEFITUP! EH sound quality is good, but they are not as durable as BOSS. I tried a CE2 and CE5 but the CE3 beats them both in my opinion. It's sort of in between analog and digital (if that's possible). Never left my pedalboard after I got it.
Great, I had been told, but needed to check: it can then produce a true pitch vibrato like that of the VB-2 (from 4:26 onwards)! I don't care much for chorus, but I'm sold on that one. There ain't plenty of vibrato pedals out there. Thanks a lot man!

Mode II is for stereo! That's why it sounds so wonky, you're only outputting to one amp so you're only hearing half the modulation!

Johnny Marr from the smiths had a great chorus pedal, i just dont know what kind it was....=(

What's a good replacemwent for a CE-1? This or the CE-2?

would this be a good pedal for the 80's rush sound like red barchetta and such?

only problem is that i've heard this one is REALLY midrangey and the small clone keeps your EQ straight...have you had that problem?
ilovemyfender1 2 years ago
i never had that problem, this is the best i've come across, at least for my style, but it can really do a lot.

The great thing about the CE3 is that it really is a chorus, a vibrato and leslie sim in one pedal. Very versatile!
