  • ya japan does it better and other countries cause the dfa is making money by saleing us cheap shit and putting added preservites in our foods to make us sick w cancer or something that can't be cured. Japan believe in natural, healthy envirement. i can't the usa

  • I subscribed hoping there would be more videos to come. Has your living situation changed? Did you move after the tsunami?

  • you're cute, no seku-hara, haha

  • Really surprised because you couldn't finish a burger in JAPAN!

  • God you're an insufferable little twat. Pretty awesome forming opinions about a country based solely on cartoons and video games! Great job, go hog wild!!

  • I hated Japan but whatever...

  • @DarPower1 Everyone has different experiences, sure. Personally, I'm not a very picky eater so most food culture is open to me (except spicy, which I physically cannot handle). On top of that I studied the culture at university and didn't really experience culture shock.

So what was it for you that made you "hate" Japan?

  • It smells like weaboo in here.

  • @Sandflapjackalt Smells like someone who doesn't know anything about me.

If you don't like it don't watch it. Thanks.

  • @Sandflapjackalt weaboos are usually people who wear naruto gear, know like 4 japanese words, and like to draw. I wouldn't consider someone with a degree in a language and culture a weaboo. In that case you are just making yourself sound ignorant as if being uninterested and uneducated about other cultures makes you cool or something.

  • @sidescrollin

It's call cosplaying and not wearing naruto gear. We Asians are known to cosplay. This is fact you must know and also cosplaying doesn't make a weaboo or all the Chinese people who cosplay will be weaboos.

  • @Samhiuys just to be clear...are you talking to me?

  • @Sandflapjackalt shut the hell up!

  • @Sandflapjackalt

What about me? I'm Chinese (Yep I'M A FUCKING ASIAN). I watched anime ever since I'm a kid (Every fucking asian kid does, especially the Japanese and Chinese) I can understand Japanese, I have talent in drawing and can draw manga (I have manga tools: G-Pen, Manga ink...damn I still need to get screentones). Am I considered a weaboo? Man, you're fucking retarded.

  • @Sandflapjackalt Weaboo > You... Get over yourself fat stereotype american...

  • Yes. Once i went to japan for a week for my vacation when i saw their food i was like why is the whole of japan doesnt have deep fried oil laden burgers like back home? They serve sushi or sometime chicken for food but the chicken wasnt fried to a crisp o its healthier. I was like soo weird. Japan better than america?

  • Try Fracasso's Pizza.

  • in the end someone with a brain in that head

    anime is moooooooore better

  • Comment removed

  • @Flashlight1996 Seems you thought better of this. Fair but gonna reply.

Something I've learned from living here is humor isn't universal. Personally I find most American humor bland or too over the top, British humor [usually] too dry, and Japanese humor too childish. But there is some of all three I find funny at times. Guessing you've seen a handful of anime episodes. I've only seen a handful of episodes from your list of shows and don't really like any of them. It's all preference.

  • This is a litle bit bullshit.... Talking about candys, packs, melon taste.... if you are in japan you should talk about something usual, and something nobody knows....

  • @FruityLoopsas Yes and I'm at your command. You don't have to watch it if you don't like it, you know.

Why should my location dictate what I'm allowed to talk about?

And why do I have to talk about something "nobody" knows? Everyone in Japan knows most things I'd be talking about.

  • cool, please more .

  • @eli2033 Thanks! I have a new video about lines in Japan, feel free to watch and give it your comments.

  • why didnt u just get, a wireless router? and a 10meter cable i am sure a cheap router would work ur rooms tiny

  • @ajetha786 Wired connections are faster and more stable.

That was also my old apartment; the issue is moot.

  • I use to love Japan, not anymore.

  • Sorry to hear that.

  • wow, yeah japan seems to have a lot more -variety- with food, and i enjoy the idea of seasonal flavors and some of the culinary art that goes with it. I definitely need to take a couple semesters to learn some Japanese before i embark to study there. rock on! oh and kit-kat is a hershey product :P

  • Just because it's Hershey doesn't mean it's not better outside of the US. ^_~

    The seasonal flavors are actually just starting to irritate me. XD As soon as I get to like something it goes away! T_T;

  • Also, I just looked at the back of a lemon vinegar Kit-Kat and in Japan Kit-Kat is produced by nestle. Check out their Japanese website for more info: nestle (dot) co (dot) jp

  • Eh. Glad I live in NYC. I have a variety of incredible food at my disposal.

  • Incredible or not, I also think the Japanese versions tend to be healthier. Although living in a city does indeed help by having more options available.

  • @superspryte also they tend to kill and eat dogs and cats and other animals

  • You may be confusing Japan with China.

  • @superspryte so what, its not like its the basic food in china, dumb asses and i doubt japan eats dogs or cats. they are more sushi seafood holics. u cant just eat dogs and cats anywhere in china, unless you go to an underground resturant.

  • @ajetha786 Are you calling me a dumbass? Because that's not very nice.

And sushi is by definition fish.

I never said China eats dogs and cats regularly or commonly, just that it doesn't happen in Japan that I've ever heard of.

  • Oh hey look a weaboo.

  • Oh hey look an uninformed jerk who likes to categorize people.

  • what so great about the japs?

    1. they are very diciplined and advanced

    2. they make the best cartoons ever

    3. they make better games

    4. they make better shows and movies

    5. they are smart

    6. they are kind

  • A few cultural points... Japs is offensive and I wouldn't recommend using it. The rest of those are mostly stereotypes. Granted, they were created by the people themselves (Japanese people often say Japanese people are kind...I hear it multiple times a week in my classes.), but I'd be careful how you go about presenting that.

Of course, nobody seems to care about stereotypes so long as they're good ones. (^_~)

  • The US is a conglomeration of nationalities only in the cities. In rural areas it's as diverse as rural Japan.

  • I'm American; I'm aware that not all of the US is a perfect mix. But I'm from Michigan and I'd say it's pretty diverse throughout the state.

  • They did that teriyaki burger thing back when Mulan was in cinemas....that was so long ago! Had it in Ireland though...

  • It's supremely strange having it as an all-year non-special thing.

  • pizza is italian

  • Yes the original was. Try an American pizza and tell me if you think it's Italian. Chicago style and New York style pizzas are truly American. Since the US is a conglomeration of nationalities so is the food.

  • And I already addressed this above if you'd checked. :-P

  • oooh i know that i tried it they are really nice!!!!

  • Just saying. I reply to pretty much all of my comments so nobody thinks I'm ignoring them. ^_~

  • Japan's "pizza" is called something else...but i'll tell u when i remember the name ...XD

  • If you're talking about okonomiyaki, that's not pizza. It's closer to a pancake. You don't need to tell me...I live here. ^_~

  • In response to the video..

    Your points

    1) Coffee is better

    2) Fast food (ASIAN STYLE STUFF) is better

    3) SPECIAL DORITOS

    4) BETTER KIT KAT BARS

Also; Pizza is Italian in origin.

    My rebuttal

Woopdeedoo Japan can make better junk food. You seriously need to try some REAL American food and not just candy and chips.

  • 1. I don't drink coffee.

    2. Burgers are burgers.

    3. I like doritos?

    4. Never seen flavored Kit Kat in the US.

Rebuttal denied. I'm American; I know what American food tastes like.

Pizza may be Italian origin, but it's almost classically American now.

Did I say everything was better? No, just a wide variety of things. There are things I of course miss that Japan can't make for anyone's business.

  • I know you don't drink coffee, but in the video you said their coffee is better.

    >Rebuttal denied.

    Yeah. Yeah. Sure. Uhuh.

    >Japan does a lot of American foods better than Americans.

That is what your video description says. And if your argument is only junk food, then it is a VERY weak one considering most of that can barely be called edible.

Come up with an argument that isn't "Fast food and candy is better" and get back to me.

  • It's all a matter of taste. In all honesty I don't remember asking you about yours.

Starbucks is not synonymous with coffee. I said the vanilla frappuccino, which contains no coffee.

There is very little food that's high-end and also American. Having worked in restaurants, this I know. It's all Italian or French or something. Nothing wrong with that, but I was trying to stick to things I think are purely American, or at least now considered strongly American.

  • >In all honesty I don't remember asking you about yours.

You posted an opinion, I didn't agree with it so I posted mine. I am allowed to do so.

About that frappuccino thing, whatever. To me that kind of stuff is seriously nasty all around. Still, it's not really considered a strongly American sort of food/drink item.

In response to your final point I have only three words for you: Louisiana Creole cuisine.

  • ...which is the only American cuisine? I'm from Michigan. Got anything from there for me? Because I'm pretty sure not so much.

And outside of the US Starbucks and McDonald's are kind of what define American food to people. Accurate or not, that's how it's seen. You can get all indignant if you want, but just because you know there's more doesn't mean the rest of the world knows or cares.

My opinion is posted to share with my family and friends.

  • It's not the only American Cuisine. It's just one of my favorites.

Michigan doesn't have much, they invented a few pastries. But just because some states have boring cuisine does not invalidate my claims. And just because McDonald's and Starbucks "defines" American food for the rest of the world, it does not mean I'm wrong.

    >My opinion is posted to share with my family and friends.

You do know that you can just make videos private so only your friends can see it, right?

  • >You do know that you can just make videos private so only your friends can see it, right?

    More than 25 people.

  • Please....don't be a jerk with your somewhat negative comments.....if it is something mean....don't say it...

  • LOL why do care just asking plus i added these awhile ago

  • LOL 17

  • Peru does American food better too. The Pizza Huts down there look like fancy Italian restaurants up here.

  • cool

  • This video is CoolI want to live in Japan.

  • What are you talking about people like her piss you off. Japan is the best place in the world

  • Sometimes I go to barns n Noble just to have a Vanilla Bean Frapacinos! lol

  • There aren't many Barnes & Noble in Japan.

  • I take it you missed the whole "I live in Japan" thing. Way to be.

  • People like me? Who move to another country to live and work? Who get a university degree in language and culture of the country before moving there? What exactly?

  • Not a very intelligent thing to do. You should at least find out about the person before you make a fool of yourself. Some foreigners living here actually make an effort. Plenty don't. But I didn't move here because I had a two week vacation in Tokyo last year or some unhealthy obsession with anime/manga.

This blog is to keep in touch with my family and friends I have left in the US. Others watch it and are active watchers so I've adopted them too.

  • I wouldn't stoop to wearing one of those. When I cosplayed for a convention it was as Motoko from Love Hina. ^_~ Still, that was only once.

  • your pretty too.

  • america sucks

  • How so?

  • What are you talking about. Japan is better then america. Now shut up.

  • Dude I LIVE in Japan.

  • Your lucky!.

  • Lucky? Do you have any idea how much we have to pay for gas here? I'd kill to move to the United States.

  • They just lowered prices on gas. IT used to be like 5 bucks a gilon. but america sucks to me.

  • And yet you flame people who are from the US just for fun...?

  • No I flame Wapanese. Americans with a Japanese complex. Most people obsess about Japan because they get the wrong idea from watching anime. They seem to think that all Japan is, is anime, sushi and pocki (which isn't even Japanese)

  • Neither is tempura or korokke. So what? It's part of Japanese culture now.

  • again your pretty. I watch this vid alot. but im not a stocker or rapiest. Because i know i sound werid.

  • I hate to be a american. I love Japan. And yeah i watch alot of ANIME. USA stands for u suck ass. not you though.

  • So why to you love Japan exactly? And why do you hate the US?

  • i hate it because it was build from stupid people. american shows suck and Japan is always has things that the us do not have till late. Some of the us is resest and it has trouble with people from other countrys becoming citizens sorry if i spelled something wrong.

  • First: How were the people who built this country stupid? Second: Japan has plenty of shitty shows. Third: And America gets some things BEFORE Japan. Fourth: You think America has problems with immigration? Christ, Japan is one of the most xenophobic places in the world.

  • why do you love the usa so much. Why are you in japan if you dont like it.

  • Finally someone who feels the same way I do about Japan. I lived in Japan from 1994-1998 while I was in the military and I returned to Japan for stints in 2000 and 2001. When I came back to the States I tried to explain many of the ideas you talk about, but everyone refused to believe it. I agree with everything you said except the comment about pizza but then again I always order thin crust in the US as well (You probably wouldn't like pizza in Italy either). Please keep me informed about Japan

  • Whaddaya mean finally? Most of the people I know who live here feel the same way. ^_^

I prefer deep dish or at least doughy crust pizza, so no I probably wouldn't like Italian pizza all that much, but so what? ^_~ The food here is great...just wish I could get some things here. Ah well, trade-off.

  • Your lucky you live in japan. How much did it cost.

  • A lot. And luck had nothing to do with it. I worked to get here.

  • We have teriyaki burgers in California. In fact there's a restaurant called Teriyaki Burger within 5 miles from my house. I think I'll go tomorrow.

  • That almost doesn't count.

  • Yea well apparently there is a sizable Japanese/Korean/Hawaiian population in my city so I have my pick specialty foods. Let me know if they have a southern/soul food inspired restaurant in Japan. I would be interested to know what changes the Japanese would make to a uniquely American style of cooking.

  • There's not really a market for it here, so I doubt there is one.

  • After 4 years here in rural Japan, I've found the disappointing thing about eating out here in the lack of variety. I mean that in the US you get together with friends and it's like - "Do you want Chinese, Thai, Italian, a diner, MikeyDs, etc, etc." Here - it's basically Japanese, Italian, Korean BBQ or KFC. Of course, there is variety among the Japanese food, but not as much.

And when I do occasionally make it to the one McDs in my area, I always eat a Big Mac for a taste of home.

  • Yeah there is...you just have to know where to look. ^_~

At least I feel like that's the case.

  • I love how your vlogs are always about food =D

  • Food is a huge part of culture and one of the things that are immediately noticeably different from the American culture I was raised in.

  • aww crap xD i just checked my email, and you did broadcast at 10 am (midnight in Japan... i guess o.o), crap XD

Sorry i missed your brodcast Spryte Sama, hope to catch your next one (^-^)b

  • No big deal. I thought I'd try something different...and it didn't work, heh.

  • jeje nice, you've changed location Spryte Sama, did you transmited in JTV? because i did'nt see you (i went to bed at 4am (6pm japan).

    Greetings from Mexico =)

  • Yeah, I did, but nobody was around so it didn't last long.

  • Have you tried MOS? You shall love Teriyaki Chiken of MOS.

I know that Pizza in Japan is horrible. Especially the freezed one is just bad. You might try the Italian Pizza at Italian restaurants in tokyo area if you afford. They brought good one, using the real recipe from Naple.

  • MOS burger? Well yeah, I've been in Japan before.
