I am a big fan of Frankie Laine, but would not say his or Vaughn's version is better. Vaughn Monroe does it like a march; great low note early. Very glad posted. Vaughn Monroe's "Ghost Riders in the Sky" is one of THE TOP SONGS.

Many Americans Didnt Get Electronic Pick Ups Until 1948 Or 1949 Beacuse Of The Depression And The War.Many Of My 1930s And 1940s Records Have Steel Needle Wear.

I Wouldnt Play Any Records Made After 1940 With A Steel Needle Beacuse They Tear Apart Those Records Worse That A Record From 1920 And You Dont Want These Musical Treasures Lost.

I try not to play UK & USA pressings with a steel needle, but Australian pressings were mostly made to handle them. Many outback areas were still without electricity in the 50's, so the shellac formula changed very little over the years. I've played this record at least 100 times with a loud tone steel needle & it shows very little wear. I've played UK & US pressings of the same era which have been unplayable after 10 plays because the shellac is too soft & designed for electric pick-ups.

Vaughn's version is good but Frankie Laine's is much Better. Frankie beat him with this and

"Mule Train" But "Ghost Rider's" is all his
