  • my crush is wendy

  • abs brilliant song

  • 1:17 COUGH (not on mono version)

  • My brother messed up and lost his Wendy on Aug 8th. But, he's going out with her on Friday for pizza. I hope they get back together. =) C'mon Wendy give Jason a chance!

  • Lost my Wendy in 1988

  • Lol My Namee Is Wendyy:)!

  • this song was written before he met Ronda

  • Lost MY Wendy in 65,,,,,,,

  • nice video, I like it ;-)

  • Great song, but the vid needs to be entirely re-done

  • Love the cough during the organ solo.

  • Wendy's a bitch.

  • Dam, sometimes their harmonies give me chills.

  • @motorcityquig i like how you changed 1 word in your comment...

  • @SuperEpicism Thanks for pointing that out. I did not know I made two comments a year apart saying basically the same thing. Must be getting old and forgetful. I noticed I made a similar comment for "When I Grow up to be a Man" video above. I guess I need a fix of BB harmonies once in awhile.

  • God, I Love This!!

Instead Of Saying "Wendy" I Say "David".....

    "Left Me Alone"...."Hurts So Bad."

  • Back in about 1972 my good buddy Dave got dumped by a girl named Wendy and of course we had to play this at every opportunity. He was a good sport for a week or so, but eventually the 45 was reduced to a pile of black specks.

  • great song

  • THE BEST BAND EVER!!!!!!!!!

  • Recorded this with my two cousins in 1964 on a tape player. We were SOOO into the BEACH BOYS back then.

  • What is the point of a non-video like this on utube?

  • 8 people that lost their "Wendy"

  • great lead-in.

  • didnt expect descendents to cover this

  • @831santacruzloc like their version very much. even more than the original one.

  • Aww they wrote a song about me... lol jk.

  • @Gwoman67 Lucky you!

  • Always reminds me of a great girl I hung out with in the seventies,Wendy L.We lived in Kitsilano which is part of Vancouver BC.Miss her friendship....

  • Heavy sigh........ the one great love of my life that slipped away... Wendy Wallace...

  • @neopreneca i currently work for a Wendy Wallace, but she's a total bitch. who knows, maybe it's the same one and you made the right choice : )

  • @helloofiree . Where are you located ? My Wendy Wallace was from Montreal originally.

  • i like this song ;)

  • Thank you for uploading my favourite Beach Boys song. Its a bit rare.

  • * cough* XD

  • thank God the Beachboys didn't forget the most beautiful of all instruments-----the human voice/harmony

  • I think Brian and Marilyn named there 2nd daughter Wendy after this song.Peace,Des

  • The Descendents play nice version, if surfpunk is you cup of tea. thanks

  • @goducks20101 Love both bands.....actually, (strangely?) 2 of my favorites. They both played from the heart. Nothing can ever touch Pet Sounds, tho....I know this song isn't on it, but it is (in my opinion) pop music's ultimate masterpiece!

  • Can you imagine the music Brian would have given to us had he not had his breakdown?

  • I love this song because my name is Wendy^.^

  • @xiahnsaya1004: I love this song because my name is Danny...... :-) hope you laugh, bye

  • This is one of my favorite BB song. Another song from the Beatles, Chains, George burps at `129. the story is he always drank Coke and the bulp came unexpectantly. thanks for this memory. Richland High School Fort Worth 66

  • why does wendy look so pissed?

  • Let the current pop "singers" listen to these guys. Brilliant perfection.

  • Wow!!! I thought that I had heard all of the Beach Boys songs. This is great.

  • yahoo youtube

  • Pop Brilliance!! Could be the best pop vocal harmony of alltime!!!

  • watch the descendants version. it's pure loveliness. i mean, if you like punk but if you don't you probaly will think it sucks. and that's ok. but i think it's perty coool.

  • YAHHHHH WENDY :DDD lol

  • Man, there are times their harmonies give me chills.

  • One of the boys more forgotten gems. I love the vocal blend with Brian's falsetto that was used until '67. Once Brian disappeared from the equation it just wasn't the same.

  • Weeeendyyy, she had PMS!!!!!

  • this reminds me of "everyone knows its wendy" from breaking bad

  • weeeeendyy <3

  • Great 60's image to go with a classic 60's song. Thanks and sharing on Facebook.

  • i dont care what people say, this song is fucking good

  • Hey, .. nice mix of still photos of times past with a great pop song. I don't think anyone has ever matched the vocal-pop/rock harmony skills of the group the Beach boys then or now, and there is good competition. The simple retro style tube studio 3( track?) mix, still sound decent in digital format, and in - 'living stereophonic hi fi sound', lulz. The cough, the cheezy thin timbre of the electric keyboard solo, all fits like a retro-soundtrack to those corvettes and cool Sundae w cherrry ;)

  • 1 of my many favs by them

  • I Love this Song Thank you so much for posting it

  • I guess that cough got locked in to the final mix, not unlike the studio chatter in "Here Today" on Pet Sounds. A very different time.

  • lol i heard him cough :)

  • Aww I thought it'd be a happy songg :/ haha

  • morning laura....hada bad night with the boldroberto.

  • Man!!! What a great song! The Beach Boy classics are truly the best. You know they lived the life in CA. during the 60s and 70s.I would have loved to have been there. Every summer me and my folks used to play this 8track goin to Va. Beach in my dads 77 ford Van.The best times! He still has the 77 custom van along with his 65 Mercury Comet Cyclone.

  • Breach boys, under arrest.

  • @LASTMAN024 True dat!!!

  • I just remember my parents playin it

  • Always loved this song . Would have been much better sans Mike Love's whiny voice .

  • DESCENDENTS RULE

  • FUCK YEAH!!!!!

  • Totally love this song. Thanks for the post with cough;-)

  • Along with Dylan, Lennon, McC, ... Brian is one of the true few geniuses of pop music.

  • @mattjackleroy Well said.

  • @mattjackleroy Pop music?

  • @Stephanage In contrast to the all time greats such as Gershwin, Porter, Rodgers, Berlin, etc..

  • @mattjackleroy Actually.. In my opinion..I hink You're right about Lennon Mc Cartney and Brian.. and yes Dylan was important in the period of time that he came up.. Despite his lyrics, his melodies were not very revolutionary.Singing was not exactly his thing...

  • @Pan3405 I agree about Dylan. It is interesting that some of his most marketable songs ( Blowing ITW, My Back Pages, All Along the Watchtower, I Shall be Released, etc.. ) were done by other artists. Probably, because those other artists / bands refined the songs, made them a bit easier on the ears, and good song better. Doing going electric at the Newport Festival ( 1965 or 1966 ? ) was still a seminarl event in rock history, even though he got booed at the time.

  • @mattjackleroy I wouldn't call Dylan a genius by any stretch, but Brian is the reigning King of popular music.

  • @JoshSitar I would. Dylan did as much for popular music as any of the others. He is the master of all pop lyricists. Lennon, Springsteen, etc.. all try to emulate him. No one has ever really come close. But to each their own opinions.

  • @mattjackleroy I must concur that it's a matter of taste. Dylan never quite did it for me personally, but I know many folks that love his work, so I suppose they can't all be wrong, n'est ce pas?

  • @JoshSitar Dylan is ( and I guess always has been ) an artist that sends mixed signals to the masses. Frankly, though, if others had not covered his tunes with so much more commercialibiity than he, himself,

I doubt he would have received the recognition that he did. BlTWind.. PPMary, My Back Pages / Mr. Tambourine Man - Byrds, It Ain't Me, Babe - Turtles, and on and on. Incredible he is still around. Enjoy.

  • @mattjackleroy Saying Brian's name in the same sentence as those inferior musicians is an outrage!

  • @beelz666kaas which "inferior" musicians are u referring to ?

  • upload the one were carl coughs in the insturmentle. thats the best part of it.

  • @gottacatchemall72 This is the wersion where he coughs.

    Listen carefully at 1:18

  • first of all my dad told and i believe him for he is my dad and second i didn't hear the cough the first time so sorry about that my dad didn't hear it either. and when i look at the time u were correct plez forgive me.

  • they must have re mixed the song the cough is louder & the mono version doesnt have the cough...

  • @adalstef On the Ed Sullivan video Carl flubs the intro but like a pro, quickly corrects it!

  • @adalstef I was just thinking the same thing...A great song even with the cough...I've always wondered whether or not that was a cough or not when I listened to this song eons ago. Everyone here thinks that it's a cough so it must be a cough.

  • @adalstef 1:19..hahahaha..!

  • @gottacatchemall72 How do you know that was Carl?

  • @gottacatchemall72 AHAHAHAAHAH i love that part i thought i was the only one who knew hahha its so random

  • I love you josefine raneke

  • The farthest thing from my mind.

Was the day that I'd wake up to find.

    My Wendy...Wendy left me alone...

  • LOL wendys my name

  • I have this on the original capital vinyl. The pressing however was made incorrectly for this song, the synth starts really loud then goes inaudible with the rest of the music before the voice of the beach boys returns!

  • Great song and video! Thanks for posting.

  • I hear the sound of cough during the bridge of this song^^ I love this song anyway. Great harmony and feeling.

  • so they slipped in a hernia exam while recording...now that's a good healthcare

  • Haha nice.

  • Listen for the "cough" at 1:19 in this song, thought it was neat that they left that in.

  • Maybe Murray was on the floor with his pipe going.I think he used to put pencil shaving in it.And lite her up..

  • Beachboys=Harmony perfected!

  • Mozart is harmony prefected.

  • @sicnarf25 I'm much more impressed when human voices are in perfect harmony.

  • thats my mum's name

  • Wendy was the twin sister of Patty and the cutest of the fraternal twins. Huge crush in 2d grade. Wonder what happened to her?

  • One of my "LOST LOVES" 100 SONGS VOLUME 1.Great song. Hard to believe it never made Billboards Top 40.

  • Wendy - cheerleader, cute, big smile, bouncy brunette, 5' 5" - breaks your heart. Always my interpretetion of the song. hahah,... maybe not at all!

And wow,, the cough during the organ solo!!! Never heard it till you mentioned it.. Great. That's real studio recording for you!

  • I know exactly who you are referring to because that is how I see her, too. She also has an incredible personality, looks you straight in the eye, and can make your day with a smile. That's Wendy!

  • Dang that Wendy!

  • This guys are awesome as can be :)

  • wendy eisenhardt !!

since 1983 when you left me I still love you!!

    (first love)

    Tom

  • This song is an important stage in the writing maturity of Brian Wilson, as he started to not listen to the suggestions of that idiot Mike Love, and began to get confidence is his talent...

  • This song reminds me of my mother. Her name is Susan. (But she likes to eat at Wendy's, so there's that.)

  • Love this song, especially the part at the end when the guy in the audience yells "Daaay!" (Oh, wait, that's "Graduation Day." I can't believe I made that mistake again.)

  • Love the car at 1.43 and by the way the song is pretty cool too.!

  • That's a classic 1958-1960 "Squarebird," the first four-seat Thunderbird.

  • the pic at 0:42 is great!!! can you send me this?? please!!

  • Wendy Perko..if you're out there give me a buzz. lol...those high school days

  • I always love hearing the cough in the middle of the organ solo. That kind of stuff is one of the problems with current pop music - things are too perfect (& less fun)

  • Thats very true. A lot of modern stuff seems stripped of its humanity. Over-produced by studio nazi's..

  • That's why all the guitars sound the same (like a wall of guitars) with no personality. Ah, I am old I guess.

  • i know! I always make it a point to hear that cough because it cracks me up!

  • @MrJsmith49 Wow. 1st time I heard that.

  • @MrJsmith49 I agree.. and it takes a lot of talent to make this kind of music!!

  • Great Beach Boy's song. Brings back many old memories. There is an Italian group who in my estimation have done the best cover I have ever heard of the Beach boy's. If you are a big fan of the Beach Boy's check out "Sunny Boys" on youtube, and you will be amazed at their right on harmony.

  • My wife's name was Wendy. She was the light of my life and the mother of my 4 kids. She was named after wendy in Peter Pan. You can see a slide show of her by typing 'Wendy Lynch Pando' into the search box. She was killed by a drunk driver. She will always be in my heart!!!

  • love this song ..........i'm also wendy x

  • Funny how young Carl looks in all those pictures. The woodies look good in all those pictures. Unfortunately, I recently can relate to this song.

  • its brill..............did u lose a wendy??

  • Uh huh. The real Beach Boys before the Bruce Johnson era.

  • The name Wendy did not exist until the movie "Peter Pan". It was made up for the charecter in that movie.

  • You're partially right. The name Wendy was created for the book "Peter Pan" by J.M. Barrie. It's supposed to be a derivative of Gwendolynn.

  • My name's Wendy, because of this song..thanks mum.. :-s

  • its called wendy, because it was the name of brian wilson's daugher. Apparently, she was upset since Brian never spent time with her enough because of his hectic schedule. So, to cheer her up, he wrote a song about her-Lucky girl!

  • Interesting? The song was written circa 63 and Wendy Wilson was born in 69. Brian Wilson was ahead of his time, this proves it.....lol.

  • I learned this information when I saw her on ''Supernanny'' a few years ago. Although she said the song Wendy was made for her, you are completely right. She must have been named for the song, not the other way around!

  • I love the "Beach Boys" they were such a big part of my teen years! Thanks to all that post their music! For me, it will never get old....

  • One can only hope that Smokie is simply being an idiot with his comment, otherwise I would think to read about his arrest following his confession online.

  • tut tut. Hope you're joking! lol x

  • My name is Wendy!! =D

  • lol, I bet no one's sang about me (Ruth)! x

  • Don't be a babyruth..haha

  • lol, I had to investigate what you meant by that! I'm in UK so have never come across a baby ruth chocolate bar lol. I'm assuming that's what you were referring to! :-) Cool, I loooove chocolate! X

  • haha...yes that's exactly what I was refering to..at least you have a chocolate bar with your name..good job researching!

  • I don't know about that...how about a Baby Ruth candy bar!!! :-)

  • my gf 's name is wendy!!!

  • Its been about 69, 70 for this tune...Never forget

  • Always loved this song. Thanks for sharing.

  • I love you Wendy!! My wife's name is Wendy and I think that's just so cute! Yaaay, Wendy.

  • It's not fast food, it's .....

  • square burgers

  • At about 1:19 one of the guys coughs. It's much more prominent on a cassette tape I used to play for my kids on the car stereo - it used to drive them nuts.

  • haha at 1:19 I heard of them coughing too.

  • This song is awesome!!

    Love it>33

im glad my name is Wendy :)

  • Hey, my name is Wendy too~ c:

  • When I was a little kid and I discovered my sister's Beach Boys' albums, this was my first favorite BB song! Still sounds great!

  • Just a little note. The past photo of the diner is all wrong. Their diner of choice was THE Which Stand over by Slauson (remember Johnny Carson's recurring routine of a huckster salesman next to a buxom blonde giving driving directions to the "Slauson Cutoff" - yeah, that Slauson), on La Cienega. Roller skates and all. I love L.A.!!!

  • Hell yeah it's a good song!

  • back then, love was young and innocent. this song caused me to name my third daughter, "wendy"...love you wendy....dad

  • I'm named Wendy. My dad is a huge Beach Boys fan, and my mom loves Peter Pan. :)

  • I love you wendy...
