I'm personally an atheist but I can appreciate good music when I hear it. Disciple are one of my favourite bands, and I agree with the comments below: a song can mean whatever you interpret it to mean, regardless of the intention of the musicians.

One doesn't need to be a Hindu to enjoy Bollywood films, and in the same way one does not need to be a Christian to enjoy good Christian music.

But! Even if it is about god, it doesn't mean that for the listeners it also goes about god. Every single word has different story and meaning to each person. The fact that you can connect multiple thoughts and feelings to a song, is what makes a song (in my opinion) good most of the time.
