Oh yeah, by the way, my 140 mile southbound section hike ended this past summer on June 14 at Front Royal. You said you got to Front Royal on June 13 which means, unless you took a zero there, you hiked out on the 14th. If you did hike out on the 14th, then i must have crossed your path sometime on the 14th as made my way into Front Royal. If you did zero it in Front Royal then we both stayed there the night of the 14th as i had a hotel room for that night.
Your videos are awesome. I watched every single one. What a journey. I'm a section hiker. The longest i've been out is for 140 miles. I know at the end of that hike i felt like "wow, i really just hiked that." I can't even begin to imagine how it must have felt to see the Katahdin sign, an iconic symbol of an amazing journey completed. You're videos just make me more antsy to get out and do my own thru-hike...which i probably won't get to until 2015.
hey i watched all of your videos and i was the most struck by how happy you look in all of them, even when you had a rough day or week. i'd love to thru hike someday but for now i am thinking of section hiking starting in march. how was it transitioning back to the "real world"?
Congrats on your NOBO! I am planning my NOBO for March 2012 right now!! I'm so excited and it was wonderful to watch your videos and see things from your point of view. Thanks for sharing your journey.
Thanks! I would say the most enjoyable portions of the Trail for me were when I had the best weather and I felt good. That said, I really enjoyed the Roan Balds, the 20 miles or so north of Roan Mountain and I would love to go back for a weekend. But the best had to be the Franconia Range in the Whites.
And yes, I started with an Osprey Aether 70 without the brain and hiked with it from GA to Bland, VA. For the last 1500 miles or so I went with the GoLite Jam and enjoyed the lighter load.
Congratulations on finishing your trek. Out of all the days hiking some of the beautiful ridges, which area would you consider the best? Roan Balds of NC, Mt Rogers in S VA, Whites of NH, Maine tree line or somewhere else? You also mentioned you got a new pack. What brand did you use first and what brand did you use second.
Congrats.. I hope to be able to do a Thru hike one day... Im going with family for 5 days at the end of April.. Is there any snow on the ground at that time in Tn,or NC?
