  • I never knew they had that train for MBTA.

  • @blarization There are 2 of these: Both were built in early 2009 by NRE in Kentucky.

  • Exactly how are the Gensets used on MBTA?

  • @navy7700 Mostly as switchers in and around Boston, though it has made a few trips to the western part of Mass to rescue stranded locomotives/trains.

  • @bobbj77 A Genset switcher is an Ultra-Low Emissions locomotive.

  • @bobbj77 They contain either two or three diesel engines per unit to reduce fuel consumption by shutting off what isn't being used.

  • I like the GP-7 and GP-18 switchers and also GP-40 work train engines better, these are ok locomotives great video though. I think this is the first video of these locomotives on YouTube nice job!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for posting this Jeremy
