She also has been quoted saying that there're other interests in her life that she is passionate about and that music is not her prime motivation. That said, I don't believe her record label would ever allow this to happen. There's just too much money to be made. @bdon616 : I'm a big fan of Cat Power too, but I have to disagree. Cat Power is not a great songwriter, but she does some very beautiful covers. Her music is very calmettevaccination and pleaseant (some of her early work excluded), and doesn't have the same dangerous and exhillerating feel at all :) Their voices are both very deep ad boarde, but other than that, they're totally different (in my opinion :))
