Ritchie Sambora would've had drug problems and addiction problems in KISS like he had in Bon Jovi. KISS is not going to tolerate that destructive nonsense or what Vinnie Vincent did to them ever again. Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer are the perfect players for KISS for years to come. Unless something happens to Eric or Tommy that is just way out of the blue, I can't imagine KISS having to audition people to play the drums or guitar for them. Peter's health is bad and Ace is doing his solo thing.
KISS is a Hard rock/Heavy metal band, whereas Bon Jovi is more of a Pop rock band (nowadays they're like Country rock, though). Nothing against Bon Jovi, they're okay, I guess, but they've got nothing on bands like KISS, Mötley Crüe, Skid Row etc.

My dad auditioned for KISS back in 1980. He sent in his tape of him playing but Paul sent it back saying "I am very sorry Paul (My dad's name) we liked your drumming but we already found our new drummer" My dad has hated them ever since.

Richie and Ace are two completely different players. Geven that Ace has improved over years, but he is a hammer and anvil type of player. Richie is bob and weave finesse. Ace can finesse when he want's to (Fractured Mirror and sequals) and is really good at it, but seems happier doing the simpler heavy slower type playing. Richie on the other hand finesses through almost every Bon Jovi song. That's just the way they play. Two completely different styles.

My dad auditioned for KISS back in 1980. He sent in his tape of him playing but Paul sent it back saying "I am very sorry Paul (My dad's name) we liked your drumming but we already found our new drummer" My dad has hated them ever since.

Even though I love the music they did with him, I personally think the first album they did without him, These Days is one of their best. But that's just me. And they weren't wearing make up from 82-96 so it wasn't always about becoming charecters on stage. Listen to something other than detroit rock city or rock and roll all night, such as forever or everytime i look at you or something before saying they don't write meaningful music.

Richie and Ace are two completely different players. Geven that Ace has improved over years, but he is a hammer and anvil type of player. Richie is bob and weave finesse. Ace can finesse when he want's to (Fractured Mirror and sequals) and is really good at it, but seems happier doing the simpler heavy slower type playing. Richie on the other hand finesses through almost every Bon Jovi song. That's just the way they play. Two completely different styles.

When would he have auditioned? I grew up listening to KISS, AC/DC, Van Halen etc...... In those days, kids picked up the guitar and got into music because of that "Guitar Hero" of such bands!! I have nothing against Bon Jovi, but ....Richie Sambora never struck me as "The GO TO GUY" for Rock/Blues influenced music? In fact most of Bon Jovi's music was mediocre at best. They were a girls band! At least Kiss had Ace to give them some Rock n Roll integrity! Ace is the man!!
