I'm definitely not a sports fan either, Ryan. However, that being said, I love Aaron Sorkin movies. He's such a phenomenal writer, and his dialogue is some of the best movie dialogue ever written. I'm looking forward to this film purely for the story and not necessarily the subject matter (baseball). You will hear great reviews coming from this film. You'll probably end up seeing it, and perhaps maybe even watching it in theaters. :D

Wally Pfister, of every Chris Nolan film fame, is the director of photography for Moneyball. I don't care about the story (love Sorkin, don't care about sports movies), but Wally is an amazing cinematographer/dp, so theres one more thing to add to the good side of this movie.

@FilmState idk how sorkin will stick to the book, but moneyball written by michael lewis (one of the best writers in my opinion) is about bill bean (gm of oakland a's) and the budget he used and different ways of souting. sounds boring but one of my favorite books. the shame is they will probably make it more drama than it is. but with pitt and sorkin and pfister i dont see how it wont be good.

@FilmState You're looking at this the wrong way. Moneyball is about sports in the same way the Social Network is about the internet. In other words, it's not really about sports at all, it just takes place in that world. Not to ruin any surprise, but they don't win the big game at the end of the movie. They DO however change the way the game is played. All done in a small market with a small budget. Billy Beane (Brad Pitt) has been the visionary behind that. That's the compelling story.

Ryan, I did not think Saving Private Ryan was that great, it had a lot of good moments in it, like when the soldier is forced to kill the nazi with as knife, the reaction of the fact that he was killing someone became apparent to him. The Fountain however, one of the best movies I've ever seen. Dialog, storyline, effects, all just outstanding.
