Nice rendition. One of the best on here. My favorite is Sill's rendition. Both her voice and the arrangement are superb. She doesn't sing the whole thing however. A must see for coloratura lovers.

Yes, it is sad but the truth. She die the 20th March 1987 in Vienna. (as I am right informed from cancer)

Rita Streich und Callas zu vergleichen ist Unsinn, denn es waren zwei total verschiedene Stimmen. Callas hatte den großen dramatischen Ausdruck mit einer Stimme erreicht, die sicher nicht die schönste gewesen war, Rita hingegen hatte eine Spitzencoloratur, mit einer leichten, perlenden wunderschönen Stimme. Beide haben deshalb immer grundverschiedene Partien gesungen. Jede war sehr gut in Ihrem Fach aber die Fächer waren grundverschieden !

WQ673 - Sie haben wirklich recht. Rita Streich mit Maria Callas zu vergleichen, heißt Äpfel mit Birnen zu vergleichen.

Maria Callas war einmalig und so schnell kommt niemand mehr, der ihren Platz einnehmen könnte. Rita Streich war eine gute Sopranistin, die aber zu ersetzten war.

Hören Sie Lucia Popp, Bella Jasper, Edita Gruberova oder Erika Köth.

Aber beiden sollte man die Ehre in dümmlichenVergleichen nicht nehmen.

Weder Maria Callas noch Rita Streich.

Rita Streich hatte eine wunderbare Coloraturstimme. Schade, daß sie noch so relativ jung gestorben ist. Sie war hübsch aber recht klein von Statur. Sie war langjähriges Wiener Ensemblemitglied und ausnehmend freundlich am "Bühnentürl". Sie war sehr nett.

I heard Rita Streich sing "Russian Nightingale Song" in the radio when I was 12 years, and an young boy soprano. I will never forget that moment, and I just loved her.
