Thanks. Yeah, these engines are brutally strong. GM struck a note with the LS1 and has been able to continue to improve on that ever since. I've been very impressed with these engines and their efficiency. We just installed ported heads, intake, cam, headers, cold air and exhaust on a 2010 camaro and were able to tune out 475 WHP on pump gas at 3500ft elevation. 500HP in your L76 is really very straight forward. The whole engine family is truely remarkable.
Nice sounding truck. I have read somewhere that the LY6 engines underwent some of the most hardcore testing from GM and it was supposedly good for 200,000+ miles. I have the aluminum L76 in my truck and I know that if I swap out the cam, it will be over 500hp at the crank. These engines are incredible.
@chevy23123 The SAE rated hp for this engine stock is 360hp and 380 lbtq. The aluminum version, the L76, was 367hp & 375lbtq for the trucks and 361hp & 385lbtq for the cars.
Its going in a 1999 extended cab 3 door silverado. The engine would already be in but my tranny is slipping. Having one built comparable to a stage 6 from Finish Line Trans....
I bought the Hooker ceramic super comp headers, ls7 lifters, hardened rods, pac springs, Nitrous Outlet wet plate kit 90mm. tru trac 373 just got installed. True duals with h pipe and 2 bassani mufflers 4x8x16 single in single out.
Eta 8 weeks. Going to post up a vid and send you the link when its done.
Don't know why the comment got pulled. I was wondering about that. The cam you've picked will likely sound very similar to whats in the video. This is a 228/232 on 112 seperation. Thanks for the comment. Soon to put some video up of our latest swap...Hemi powered Jeep Wagoneer. Whats your LY6 going in?
Not many people know about the Ly6. It has the iron block and L92 heads. The truck is bad ass.
Did you remove the VVT? I bought an Ly6 last month and waiting to get it installed on my '99 silverado. The shop recomened i remove the VVT so thats gone and also removing the DBW and got a DBC Edelbrock with an idler bleed screw. he LY^ cover I am having painted the same color as my truck.
Header wise I am going with LPP long tubes and a catted H Pipe with Bassani's
Its a .600 lift Texas Speed cam with a mild lobe seperation and duration. Believe it or not thats all it takes to get 500 HP from these guys. I took the customer for a test ride in it this Sat and he was stuned to find out it will spin at interstate speed.
fucking amazing !

Thanks. No, didn't use the VVT however, if you intend to use it I suggest MAST Performance. They have a large selection of VVT cams.

Great looking swap. Did you retain the VVT? I'm getting ready to do a LY6 swap in a G-body.
