  • nice.[ too bad the flautist was overpowered by ensemble at 2: 53 -- 3:15/bring it out out. brief relief. so beautiful. yet drowning leaf!! no but seriously?] thanks for posting!! appreciated.

  • Thank god I found this, that harpsichord cadenza is one of the best things I've ever heard.

  • im here for school

  • Divino...

  • wild man - wonderful interpretation.

  • Bach per la vita

  • Vivaldi is better.. This makes me sleep....

  • @444719abcx You are the dumbest person who ever lived.

  • Wunderbare Aufnahme !

  • love

  • che bravi e che bello!

  • I want his flute

  • clavicembal win

  • ust one word: beautiful :D

  • The Glen Gould video would have been better but kept freezing. But I think Glen FELT it and expressed it, in the solo especially. This guy's a master and all, but a little dry...

  • I love the tempo and treatment of the upbeat in this performance. A+

  • Troppo veloce ! Questo è virtuosismo tecnico. Eccellente, ma solo virtuosismo.

  • The best harpishord cadenza I have ever heard of this concerto.

  • @MadAuralSkills Did you da the Karl Richter version? it's...LOLLLLLLL

  • @MadAuralSkills Did you hear the Karl Richter version? it's...LOLLLLLL

  • This tempo is quick, but totally works. These musicians are true masters.

  • absolutely beautiful! Bach's brandenburg concertos are amazing! :'D I've played the brandburg concerto 3, and 5 already! I hope to play more of his pieces.

  • @2BEcontinue1 They say 5 is the most difficut- so it'll get easier from here! (yeah- not with Bach LOL) I hope you play more also. I'm still working on the harpsichord solo of this mov't...been about 5 years now, almost there! LOL a labor of love, fellow musician. =)

  • @augury789 5 definately most difficult! It was said Bach composed it after #6! fellow bach lover...and I did a paper on #5 in grad school! =)

  • fantastic and all very good and I mean everyone

  • I like Glenn Gould's more!

  • man carmignola is the shizznit...seriously, he makes me like violin again...

  • A beautiful Harpsichord with two layers of keys. Whats it called.

  • @grandadpoppyable its just a german double-manual harpsichord... at the hands of a world-class virtuoso

  • @grandadpoppyable A double manual if thats the question you're asking

  • JACQUES ZOON UNO DE LOS MAS GRANDES FLAUTISTAS DE LA ACTUALIDAD

  • What is Claudio Abbado doing here?

  • @Harmonieuniverselle I think he was murmuring himself hahaha~ but we can't deny what he'd done behind stage, isn't it?

  • @henrich715 indeed, he should stay behind stage though lol

  • @Harmonieuniverselle It looks like he is enjoying himself.

  • @Harmonieuniverselle He's just clearly lending his name to this band. Not that there's anything wrong with it, but if at least the musicians pretended to be paying attention to his indications. Theses guys are obviously used to play by themselves (and BTW very nicely!).

  • I love The Bass Part and D Scale all Teh Way Down to low E....

  • Please excuse my ignorance but does the conductor need to be there? no one seems to be taking any notice of him.

  • @5050zulu1 Well, he's the one who starts it up, then he's just pushing lightly for encouragement !

  • @5050zulu1 It is Claudio Abbado. If they would watch and follow him the music would never sound this beautiful ;)

  • The flautist is magnificent!

    Wouldn't the harpsichordist conduct?

  • I love the flautist! Wouldn't the harpsichordist have conducted?

  • Solo violin is a little soft... other than that excellent flute playing!

  • Victoria, gracias...

  • veramente straordinario

  • Brilliant.

  • But the cadenza is not played very sensually :-) hm? Not my favorite.

  • The best harpsicord cadenza

  • Lovely tone on flute .....not the frequently heard ' trumpet ' sound which seems to be beloved of many of todays players ....added to a projection designed to hold its own with a Steinway grand in full flow! 'The soft complaining flute' seems a thing of the past.

  • @Lisnageeragh in real life, a "soft" flutist can be heard clearly in a very big hall, because his sound is clear and refined. Trumpet sound goes hugely loud for 20 meters and that's it. In this video it seems that Zoon is playing softly, but if you listen to him live, it's damn loud. Gallois also has that kind of sound, and I suspect that it's not because of the wooden flute, despite what everybody says

  • to fast but they are great:)

  • They say Bach was practicing this when Louis Marchand walked in, heard him, and walked right out and back to France. They were going to have a harpsichord competition.

  • @Lassannn Tks! Yes Marchand went crying home to mommy after heard this. Marchaud was MIA for the competition. Bach prob didn't even notice- he was too amazingly brilliant for worldly matters.

  • @augury789 And the legend just keeps growing and growing, like the miracles of Jesus. lol

  • @Lassannn Tks! Yes Marchand went crying home to mommy after heard this. Marchaud was MIA for the competition. Bach prob didn't even notice- he was too amazingly brilliant for worldly matters.

  • @Lassannn C'est quoi cette traduction débile...?

  • @Lassannn really!!!

  • aaaaaaahhh!!!! The cadenza makes me shiver!!!!! But the ensemble too!! :-)

Extra

  • l'attacco a 8.38 !!! magnificoooooooooooooo!!!

  • Tooooooo fast!!! But amazing nonetheless.

  • I love abbado.

  • @paradoxicus such a fucking asshole!!!! they play in Italy in that recording, but most of them arent Italians... and for Abbado I aggree he is not necessary...whith these outstandig musicians, check out the Nª 6 BWV 1051 whith two violas, cello, gambas and BC!

  • Magnificent!

  • 2:51

  • wow! spectacular! oh i love tnis-thankyou so much for posting!

  • who is the maker of the harpsichord? it's has very beautiful paintings and decent red

  • this harpsichordist is a genius! lol

  • not particularly fond of baroque, but this piece has been with me since i was 3, and i still love it.

  • This is how music sounded 325 years ago. Now where're listening to cavemen who can't play instruments and calling them "artists."

  • @songczar Rofl?

  • Great ! Compliments to all !

  • I would put this up against Eddie Van Halen's 'Eruption' seven days a week.

  • but.... they amused themselves??

    Hi hi!!!

  • 2H55 ..... GLI SONO CADUTE LE MANI?????

  • Super playing

Is there a need for a conductor

  • This piece has so delicate, elegant and relaxing melody lines that is supposed to relax you. This performance is so good that it brought tears to my eyes and filled me with emotional energy

  • WELL DONE!!!! This is one of my most favorite pieces!! I would love to find others to play this as a small ensemble some day.

  • I must be getting old. the tempo is too fast

  • Abbado slightly moves his hand, then the music float so naturally.

    How I love him!

LOOOL

  • Superbo!

  • I love that harpsichordist!!!!

  • Claudio Abbado = Best.

  • I don't understand the presence of a conductor for this music.

  • @JackieMab yeah, nobody seems look after him

  • this is too perfect and that's why it's boring

  • why Bach isn't 4 italianos??..who wrote that idiot thing is a mental......music is universal !!!!

  • Great Abbado! Forever Bach!

  • it seems really fast

  • This clearly inspired Handel to write All we like sheep

  • actually isnt played well, but its nice... I like dantone's playing.

    check the Frieburger barockorchester version.

  • Good

  • Instead writing here about these musicians you must take your instrument and try to play this... I do not think that you are better!

  • paradoxicus you don't understand nothing of music, if you say that this concert isn't play well!

  • Very nice music, I love it!!!

    Great harpsichord solo ;-D

  • Get it harpsichord guy!!!

  • the graet flute...thi is really bach!

  • Ottavio sei sempre più grande!!!

  • acapellaworld: are you drunk?

  • Yes,He is.

  • Jacques Zoon... simply the best...

  • Belo! Belo! Belo!

  • Why doesn't Abbado just get out of the way...? Really.

  • 1:12 - 1:14

The Flute, the same notes of Balamb Garden melody by final Fantasy 8.

  • Amazing Flute playing. Bach would be quite pleased.

  • i love the cadenza- amazing playing by the harpsichordist

  • perfect

  • The last few minutes of this piece are, in my opinion, the greatest harpsichord solo ever written.

  • What amazing musicians!!! These guys are, in the lingo of the surfers "Totally Tubular"!!!!! They really seem to understand and more importantly, FEEL the music as they play it. To me, this is what music is all about: it seldom gets much better than this.

  • perfect tempo

  • supper this is a great song.Bach is so good

  • the cadenza !! the cadenza !!!

  • You waste money on Conductor - I do resent throwing money down the sink Abado Abado - gut gespielt ja - aber nicht besonders. Abado weil? jsb from Leipzig this is my amen lads.

  • rustydog1236 - you know, there is nothing about the flute player to say... he is the best flutist and teacher I have ever met. And the style he play is the style that everyone in this small chamber group plays.. if the violin plays with lots of vibrato than the flute must play to.. or nobody..

Jacques Zoon is the best interpret all around the world. Check it, everybody who is a great flutist will agree.

This is a great music by great performers!

  • Bravo!

    I love Abbado!

  • dang, thats one hardcore cadenza, man.

  • the Cadenza, ah the Cadenza !

  • The name is Ottavio Dantone,

  • Dantone is a conductor too. He conducted "Il viaggio a Reims"

    At la Scala last spring.

  • Ottavio r
