@gdub454 I don't know....Im a 25 year long bass player myself and i know you can get some similar sounds out of a bass-rig set-up with effects peddles and it DEFFINATELY has that RICKENBACKER rumble grumble thumpy tone under the sound effect. He's hands are playing correct fret and finger plucking position also. Why would they bother pretending to play bass?

Also dont forget to use an "envelope filter" to give it that bouncy funk sound. Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers uses one and I've used one a lot. Also use some flatwound "bright" ernie ball strings. Gets pretty close to this sound.
@billygmurphy What do you mean with "envelope filter"? Do you mean the synth effect? And yea, almost every big bassist have had this bass! I don't think they make them anymore, you can only buy them used, but I just love the sound :D
@PeterRockClausen Yeah, an "envelope filter" is an effect pedal, about 30-40 bucks i think and it gives it that almost slap bass sound but it cuts off the hardness of it and gives it that "bouncy" sound. Hope this helps.
@PeterRockClausen I'm pretty sure Rickenbacker still make the 4001 model bass guitar like Morris is playing here. They're famous for their rich, warm thundering rumble tone sound and beautiful patented body shape so i doubt they'd stop making them. Im getting a 4001 or the newer 4003 Rickenbacker when i come over to the U.S.A next year. They cost a bit, but they are the SHIT! Nothin in bass guitars looks cooler,sexier or sounds better and they are the only100% American made guitars!

@PeterRockClausen If you look at the music clip from the band "The Knack" singing "My Sharona" you'll see and hear the bassist using one as well. He plays probably the most famous Pop bass riff EVER. My dream bass is the very limited edition 1987-88 model blood Red Rickenbacker 4001 bass guitar with black fittings. There are YT video's and even websites about the cursed "Red Rickenbacker". Apparently the Red Rickenbackers are all cursed and supposedly cause their owners to go stark raving MAD!

Lol I was wondering what bass the band was using, I'm wondering that with a lot of bands... But I always figure out that it is a Rieckenbacker bass that makes these awesome bass sounds!!! I wan't that bass so freaking much! Best bass ever!

Also dont forget to use an "envelope filter" to give it that bouncy funk sound. Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers uses one and I've used one a lot. Also use some flatwound "bright" ernie ball strings. Gets pretty close to this sound.

@billygmurphy What do you mean with "envelope filter"? Do you mean the synth effect? And yea, almost every big bassist have had this bass! I don't think they make them anymore, you can only buy them used, but I just love the sound :D

@PeterRockClausen Yeah, an "envelope filter" is an effect pedal, about 30-40 bucks i think and it gives it that almost slap bass sound but it cuts off the hardness of it and gives it that "bouncy" sound. Hope this helps.

@PeterRockClausen I'm pretty sure Rickenbacker still make the 4001 model bass guitar like Morris is playing here. They're famous for their rich, warm thundering rumble tone sound and beautiful patented body shape so i doubt they'd stop making them. Im getting a 4001 or the newer 4003 Rickenbacker when i come over to the U.S.A next year. They cost a bit, but they are the SHIT! Nothin in bass guitars looks cooler,sexier or sounds better and they are the only100% American made guitars!

@PeterRockClausen If you look at the music clip from the band "The Knack" singing "My Sharona" you'll see and hear the bassist using one as well. He plays probably the most famous Pop bass riff EVER. My dream bass is the very limited edition 1987-88 model blood Red Rickenbacker 4001 bass guitar with black fittings. There are YT video's and even websites about the cursed "Red Rickenbacker". Apparently the Red Rickenbackers are all cursed and supposedly cause their owners to go stark raving MAD!

Im a old, old school bass player musician so i grew up listening to most of this stuff and know MOST of the classic Rock, Pop, Punk, Funk, New Wave, Disco,Motown, ect stuff from the 60's 70's 80's 90's,00's. "Stevie Wright, Black eyed bruiser" who was the cousin to Bon Scott of Ac Dc and "Blondie picture this" and "Blondie Detroit 442" see what ya think?
