  • What program was used for that?

  • I thought it was a thumbnail of weed at first glance.

  • Were you using Mandelbulber for this one?

  • @AllFractUp No this was made with Ultra Fractal and a few adjustments in Adobe Premiere.

  • @Saquedon

I know you said you are using an overclocked system. For others like myself who want to try this with speedy results what is the average system and the ideal system you'd recommend? Do you favor the AMD CPUs or the Intel CPUs? What are your thoughts on CUDA or Nvidia Tesla GPUs?

  • @AllFractUp The only choice for speed are Intel CPU's as they are much faster than AMD and most can be significantly overclocked, not so with AMD CPU's. AMD really only is the last resort option.

The only alternative to Intel desktop CPU's would be the Intel Xeon CPU's in combination with multi CPU socket workstations.

When you make renders are you using HDDs or SDDs? Of the two types which do you feel is the better or best of "class"?

  • @AllFractUp Well i am using both atm. actually SSD (boot) and Raid with conventional HDD's, the ideal system would be a Raid0 SATA600 SSD configuration.

But not all SSD's work well with compressed data (as compressed video) yet (unless you start forking out big money) so Raid with conventional HDD's is still the affordable option. When working with 4K video, compressed video is the cheaper option, to work with uncompressed 4K you probably would need a 3 or 4 drive Raid 0 SSD configuration

  • @AllFractUp For CUDA i see no real advantage in Tesla Add-on cards instead of standard GPU's, those are only interesting if you need scientific results. The same goes for Quadro GPU's, only interesting for scientific results and if you need extremely accurate colors.

Currently ATI/AMD videocards offer no advantages for GPU accelerated calculations, after all Nvidia does have a couple years head start in the field.

Would a top-end gaming machine be something to use in regards to animating with 3D fractals? Or do you have something else in mind?

  • @AllFractUp Well the first big hurdle with 3D fractals (as with any fractals) is CPU power, that really what you should start looking for first, getting as much raw CPU power as you can.

Certainly some things can be done on GPU's in the no too distant future, but a more powerful GPU's can usually be added later, game machines tend to focus on GPU's.

  • @AllFractUp Although it might be that Quadro card do not have certain hardware limits that standard GPU's might have regarding very high resolution video as 4K.

  • I'm still waiting for a 4D Hyper Mandelbrot...

  • These are cool!

I have just been starting fractal animations and I think u'd get a kick out of the few I have already. I'd appreciate the feedback.

  • fabulous but are there any amazing zooms out there of 3d mandelbrot. Ive to find one .

  • @danbohane Yes search for mandelbulb.

  • Or just see my new Mandelbulb playlists with all the 3D Mandelbrot Youtube vids.

  • BEAUTIFUL....!!!!!

  • beither &fmt=22 nor HD button works

  • @iwantcoolname HD button works fine and hacks are no longer used on Youtube as far as i know.

  • looks like ancient gold ornament art or pottery, or part of a coral reef. dont see mandelbrot. but what the hey its cool anyway.

  • awesome!!! have you used Ultrafractal?

  • Indeed Ultra Fractal is the default for most of my work these days.

  • good choice of music

  • Well it was made for the video ;)

  • 8th order Mandelbulb methinks :-)
