@chingchangchongfly Funny really you should say so, one of the primary reason Dylan switched to electric was meeting the Beatles and being influenced by them. So really it's just Lennon's influence coming full circle. Anyways this is more skiffle-esque, he was harking back to his childhood
You got it backwards: It was only after meeting that the Beatles came up with a little gem by the name of "Rubber Soul," a heroic leap forward in their songwriting and production. You see, Old Bob turned them on to a little thing called hooch. The rest is musical history. Better hit the books, Kid. ;-)
@Rhythmicons You're correct. I used the wrong word. We used to call dope "hooch." And when we were stoned "marajahoochie." I apologize, and you are absolutely correct. For some songwriters, evidently, marihuana helps them write music. I guess it was the case with Dylan, the Beatles, and others. I don't know; I'm not a musician, but it was after Dylan turned them on that they wrote "Rubber Soul," which was clearly superior to anything they'd written thus far.
@jjranch4 I've always wondered that myself--I sure hope not, but if it is--well i guess friends are entitled to call each other names. There is a great clip of John on Mike Douglas talking about the thinks he said about Paul and then John says something to the effect of--If you can 't have a fight with your best friend, then who can you have a fight with?
@MusicalCitty Peaceful for sure after the extreme Plastic Ono Band (1970)! And here, John Lennon delivers a universal, topical message! You can't hide the fact you're crippled inside!
@TheBeatlesArchive I completely agree! This is the kind of verse that ONLY John Lennon would ever come up with...very few artists dare to speak the truth so bluntly as John always did...I wish more people were like John....
Obvious Dylan influence. Too obvious for my tastes.

Kind of reminds you of the Loving Spoonful, eh? I think this is the kind of music John began playing as a teen: skiffle.
