  • You can't go with the diet industry. But seriously human beings weren't designed to be over weight. It's very unhealthy.

  • It's not because designers are gay men or whatever that the clothes they make for women only fit size 0 models... It's because the fashion industry has succumbed to fetishisation, along with the architecture industry and the art industry. It's not about beauty anymore but about how far they can push it in an impossible direction. Just look at what paintings are claiming the big bucks these days. Complete crap. And buildings are made to look interesting, not attractive. The death of beauty.

  • Dawn is gorgeous through and through

  • she is one of the greatest comedians and a very beautiful woman.i wish she could loose some weight so her beauty would show more.

  • kate moss as a paintbrush-cracked me up!

  • I never though about that..LOL.. It is soo true about the food metaphors isn't it. :-)

  • @tet43 Being a gay man you are not able to appreciate that larger women can be the stuff of fantasy and desire. If you listen to the video it's explained that as many designers are gay they design with boyish physiques in mind hence low body fat ratio=fashion. We are all different and you should try to be a lover not a hater.

  • 600 hundred pounds of sexy just became even More uninteresting

  • dawn if your stuck for a date call me . your very sexy girl !

  • These videos have helped me so much! I love Dawn French!

  • I wish someone would come to my house with a Kate Moss paintbrush. I could so outdo all those painted models.

  • Dawn French is absolutely gorgeous. I would SO hit that. And I'd make her a sandwich later.

  • lol the secound lady was funny ate a bed room

  • Was this a one-off special or was it a regular series? Who is the woman Dawn is talking to at the beginning? Thanks =^)

  • @jeffeastwood15 I'm guessing one off, and that is Alison Moyet, she is in other bits of this programme, and they also appeared together on various chat shows (some of which are in the side bar)

  • i love curvy women like dawn. so sexy!

  • Fashion is about fantasy and desire. They do not show large women in clothes becasue noone wants to buy reality.Though I adore Dawn French, she is not just large, she is morbidly obese, and should be concerned for her health.I'm a stocky, short, gay man, and go tothe gym to maintain my health, not to be validated. Perhaps Miss French could benefit from a change of perception on this matter.

  • Dawn French...Beautiful, smart, sexy, perfect :)

  • Anorexia has replaced the corset.

    Very profound actually.

  • DF "...the 1300s...1400s... 1430...i don't know , some time in the afternoon"

    pure genius

  • I love big women but dawn french is vile. Shes shaped like a giant potatoe.

  • @Terminator860 - Would you have the courage to say that to her face, or are you only saying it here because you're hidden by an alias?

P.S. - There is no "e" in "potato".

  • @OofusTwillip of course i would. What do you think shed do? Body splash me? lol

  • @korearichie And you'll just ignore all of that. No room for logic or facts with all that "ME ME ME ME" spinning around in that thick noodle of yours.

As long as you've got a bus seat to yourself, you're free to decide who lives and who dies.

No, right, I'm just "making up these issues of yours." Sure.

  • @korearichie People gain weight for a variety of reasons, not all of them at the fault of themselves, and we don't have conclusive data to tell us for certain how many of them have issues that are beyond their own control, but we know enough to tell us that it's not as rare as we thought. It not only involves the kinds of food we eat and the amount of exercise we get, but also how well our metabolisms work, how we feel emotionally, our mental health and yes, even our genetics.

  • @korearichie I know you don't understand how repugnantly selfish you sound, so allow me.

You're not interested in solutions, because as I said, your complaints are about your personal comfort. And the great irony to all of this is that, since all you're doing is bitching and moaning, not learning about this issue, nothing is going to be solved. This is NOT ABOUT YOU, and that your "approach" to it is in fact detrimental to it. So you're actually making it worse by being so ignorant.

  • @korearichie See the problem is that you're not worried about solving this, you're worried about your own personal comfort.

-Whining about your personal space on public transport (and measuring someone's worthiness to sit down next to you, I might add)

-Complaining that they're taking money from YOUR PERSONAL national health care system.

-DENYING people medical treatment until they "prove themselves" to you, people who, depending on why they're fat, might benefit the most from treatment.

  • @korearichie And even if you're not into the pro-ana trend, your "burn, burn, burn, as long as I stay happy" attitude marks you as a narcissistic sociopath. Do you carry this persona with you offline, too?

Man, I might be hopelessly fat, but at least I don't have to deal with your issues.

  • @korearichie The fact that you try to dehumanize people who literally cannot lose weight is perfect for me, because now I know your discrimination is not based on health, but appearance. Under that sparkly exterior is a slimy, disgusting bigot, and who's to say you'd stop at discriminating against people based on weight?

Your own weight paranoia is very telling- sounds like someone's suffering from anorexia and loving every minute of it. You into the pro-ana scene, bro? Wanna be my ana buddy?

  • @korearichie Oh, you're white too, huh? Well, don't that just fit the stereotype? Smug, privileged and egomaniacal.

If the criteria for success is to be a model and nothing more, then you've got me beat. If the criteria is being useful? Well, that's a different story. Of course you'll probably say something like, "what's so useful about an 800 pound blob?" And I'll say, "I wasn't talking about someone who's 800 pounds. People are considered fat if they're so much as 30 pounds overweight, champ."

  • @korearichie And no, sorry, you don't have the right to insult ugly people. What you are doing is voluntarily being a prick- no one's deliberately "offending your eyes." You're justifying your own insanity.

You are nothing but a superficial, selfish egomaniac, you have no business telling people to change themselves or denying people health care, and if that's actually a photo of you on your myspace page, then you've got nothing to brag about, little man.

  • @korearichie It makes NO SENSE to DENY medical treatment to people with an addiction or an eating disorder. The whole reason we even HAVE treatment centers for people with those issues is because it's too difficult for most people to treat those issues by themselves! It's not just a lack of willpower, you stupid, annoying little toothpick- addictions and EDs alter the brain's chemistry. Most people NEED help to beat them.

Your reasoning here makes no sense.

  • @korearichie Learn how to type in the language you're trying to speak in.

Your ideal world is not reality, and in pretending that it is, you and people like you cause others to suffer because they can't live up to your expectations. In fact, the most insulting thing about this aren't your expectations, but rather that you expect people to conform to them. No, not everyone has the willpower you want them to have. You have to accept that.

  • @korearichie Being "repulsive" is subjective by who you ask and has fuckall to do with health.

And frankly if someone has an addiction to high-calorie foods or overeats due to an eating disorder, isn't denying them health care kind of counterproductive? Sounds like you just want to find a way to play "punish the fatty."

  • lol she's so funny! Love this

  • I think Dawn may have a point that a lot of fashion designers are gay men who think of boys when they design their clothes, hence their clothes only suiting boyish shapes

  • Dawn French is beautiful, as are other bigger women!!!!! :-)

  • I don't get it

  • how big is a size 16? I'm not a lady so I don't know their sizing.

  • dawn french is rather beautiful isn't she?

  • Too right she is...she is gorgeous.

  • "whats that in your hand?" "it's kate moss... using her as a paintbrush." lol! I LOVE DAWN FRENCH! And I don't care what size she is, she is GORGEOUS and a beautiful person.

  • Who is the blonde girl she's talking to?

  • Thanks, Dawn, for saying this... She's not afraid to be herself, and she looks (as she says in her Catherine Zeta-Jones parodies) FAB-LOUS!! Love her to death!

  • wow, the dress at 04:54 !!!1

  • If we women want to be empowered we need to stop thinking about our looks so much. I think it's a depressing idea that women who do not fit into the current beauty ideal need to be talked into believing that they are beautiful anyway. As if the most important thing in a woman's life is to be pretty and it's impossible to be happy otherwise. How about not putting your whole self-esteem down to your looks? Nevermind beauty ideals, don't read fashion mags in the first place!

  • i do eat eggs chocolate ones lol kate moss as a paint brush. she is so funny even when she is trying to act serious

  • Great documentary. Dawn French is beautiful.

  • i think their both amazing they both crack me up and dawn french is stunning x

  • Dawn French is STUNNING. And Jo Brand is HILARIOUS.

  • yeh well there is 1 thing more uglier than that, YOU so i suggest u go insult some1 when u can grow some balls and some brains.

  • Oh grow up. With a disgusting attitude like that, i cant imagine your exactly easy on the eyes.

  • The quote at 9:30 says it all - I always say I'd rather be shaped like a woman than a 12yr old orphan boy!

  • Amen.

  • "She had an extra half of bran flake for breakfast and I ate my bedroom" :DDDD

This is great stuff, thanks for posting!!

  • Is that Alison Moyet?

  • yes that is

  • the last part is arousing.

  • As much as I love Dawn, I'm saddened to hear her use that hoary old cliche about gay male designers designing for boyish bodies. Well, no, gay men like men, not boys. That's a saying that's only used by middle class tabloids that like to confuse homosexuality with paedophilia and it's very annoying.

  • she just pointed out that its a theory, I don't think that's what she actually believes.

There is a perception that many gay men do find young-looking "boyish" men attractive. The sort of hairless feminine male models in magazines as apposed to the more "manly" "bear" look. I think the pressure for gay men to look fit is be as bad as the pressure for women to look thin.

  • you've got a point there

  • I don't think she meant "boyish body" as in adolescent I think she meant boyish as in Twink. Look at any Ambercrombie ad. Twinks are the gay ideal right now. The Bear community rallies against this image but it prevails in the mainstream gay community. The media image of the gay man would make you believe that all gay men are white, rich and thin. The fashion industry enforces this as well.

  • i was brought up around gay men and i know what your saying is right gay men are sound and good people ! but i think what she meant was the fashion industry disign clothes that dont look good on real women but adrodinus ( sorry cant spell that ) frames

  • The Wonderful Welsh!

  • Is that Alison Moyet? It just clicked when I watched the last part lol.

  • Thank you so much for posting this. Fan-bloody-tastic!!

  • What an interesting concept...Gay male designers designing for boyish bodies...I'd never really looked at it that way, but it does make you wonder.

  • I don't know about anyone else, but I think Dawn is absolutely gorgeous, and my stepdad, my brother, my dad and my uncles all agree!

  • wow when shes getting all the make up and getting her hair done right about 8:03 and on..., she looks just like Catherine Zeta Jones!!!

shes beautiful period all big women are there's something special about everyone of us shit!!!!

  • how can tht women say theres not a conscious decision to use only thin models? omg people who arent thin are edited in photoshop these days! okay im reli bad cuz i view myself n most people as fat...but when i look at dawn i dont think she is...and i think its cuz she dnt care, so i dnt wana care anymore either

  • DF is seriously hot and just gets hotter all the time. Check out her Catherine Zeta Jones parody for Comic Aid, it's hilarious and her rack is amazing!

  • She is right about the fact that gay men design a lot of the clothes, which is also why models are tall -- more like men.

  • THANK YOU!!!

the world is not completely insane!

    hurray!! :D

  • my hubby thinks Dawn French is one of the sexiest women around. That makes me happy knowing that not all men allow society to dictate to them what is appealing and what is unacceptable. There is a freedom in being comfortable and sexy in your own skin no matter what your shape and size may be. In the end we all go to pot with age so enjoy the love and adoration from those who appreciate us in all our natural splendor while we can and be happy we are shaped like real women adored thruout time.

  • hear hear! lol..well..I think I love your hubby!

  • This is great! I haven't seen it before. Thanks for posting

  • "What's that in your hand?"

"It's Kate Moss...we're using her as a paintbrush!"

  • Men are into curves. We talk excitedly about tomatoes, buns, and melons, not about pixie sticks and microphone stands. Come to think of it, men use a lot of food metaphors when talking about attractive women. I think that's very telling. ;)

  • i do eat eggs.

    easter eggs.

  • hahahahaha, yeah... classic!

  • "There are ones who love chocolate and complete bitches." Ahhhhhhhhhh truth.

  • Yes, so funny, and I love the pause, DF taking a long thoughtful drag on the fag and then says, "I'm the former" LOL! She's so clever.
