  • How do you handle infections where the skin meets the implant? I'm aware of implants like ITAPS where there is a porus flange which allows the skin to grow into the implant and make a seal, preventing infection. Do you use something similar?

  • @ComradeMDK , We use a surgical technigue to prevent skin infections, originally developed for the Bone Anchored hearing Aid (BAHA) in the late 1970's. More than 10.000 patient world wide have been treated with the BAHA. The surgery aims at attaching the skin firmly to the skeleton, thereby preventing relative motion of the skin in telation to the implant.

  • What does the loading from the pin feel like? What sort of proprioception do you get from the prosthetic through the bone? What issues, if any with interface infection, or pain?
