The Marine Corps operates mostly as a self sufficient entity. Anything that has to do with creating, testing and implementing any type of new equipment or idea is usually left to 3rd party civilian contractors and Generals. However there is the MOS of 0411 or MAGTF Planner. They are people who literally decide what the Marine Corps will do in any situation. They come up with situations everyday and create a reaction that the Corps will go with. Other than that there isn't much R&D.

Canada also has flight officers flying combat missions, ground troops participating in operations and has thrown 300 million dollars at the US to help with war costs. The Marine Corps operates mostly as a self sufficient entity. Anything that has to do with creating, testing and implementing any type of new equipment or idea is usually left to 3rd party civilian contractors and Generals. However there is the MOS of 0411 or MAGTF Planner. They are people who literally decide what the Marine Corps will do in any situation. They come up with situations everyday and create a reaction that the Corps will go with. Other than that there isn't much R&D.
