to put all the uncertainty to rest. The original solid snake was actually based on multiple action heroes of the time, and his original look (on the box art) was based on Michael Biehn's portrayal of Kyle Reese in the original terminator film.

If you Kyle Reese the images usually shown are of him in the same pose as on the metal gear cover. The resemblance is striking.

And the original art for big boss was in fact based on Sean Connery.

Metal gears box art from era of NES, his character looks lot of Michael Biehn, and in Metal gear 2 he was modeled after Mel Gibson. Non-canon game "Snake's revenge" he again gets a new face, this time looking like Arnold Schwarzenegger.

@kansazkid Actually, funny story. David Hayter went to John Carpenter with the script for MGS, Carpenter turned it down, and Hayter went to Hideo Kojima. Carpenter did 2 movies Escape from New york and Escape from LA. The main characters name in both those movie is Snake Pliskin. Watch tnem some time
