  • i was wondering about the hair

  • great, intelligent man...his host however lacks the ability to properly present a question to a person...especially ones that are of a delicate nature to her guest. She is obviously a textbook reporter. She seems to slap the person in the face with her questions...rather than evoke a response by showing some sympathy and understanding. He said to her ''that you really know your stuff''..but there is a difference between asking off a checklist...or asking with the true intent to learn from it!!

  • holy crap! he is so old!

  • Great interview Brian. All the best.

  • lol Richard Dawkins is not an atheist anymore

  • I have a great deal of respect for Brian May when I was younger when I only discovered Queen as a teenager after watching Radio Ga Ga for the first on tv I always thought Brian May was a huge poser but now I really like him

  • Omg hes soo old :(

  • very pleasant man, I wish him all the best

  • Sat next to him in a restaurant... he's a living legend.

  • What a remarkably intelligent and all round great guy.

  • Great interview. Great questions

  • Sir Brian = Genius

  • Genuine gentleman! My love of queen grows and grows. (It was huge to start with)

  • One of the best interviews out there. Great questions.

  • wtf is RT?? i know this legend of course omg he has become grey haha

  • He should be my grandfather....He's so damn cool and wise and humble....Lots to learn from him!

  • Heyyyyyyyy Carlo !

  • Brian May is such a badass! His not only intelligent, but also gives you that rock and roll feeling every time you listen to him play his guitar. I bet that if I ever had the chance to talk w/ Brian, we would probably argue about religious believes since I'm an atheist, but it sure would be cool to meet him.

  • @THANATOS112220 I think it would be cool just to have a conversation with him, wether it be about religion like you said, or science or music or just like ummm, topic after topic, just sit there and talk for like 4 hours

  • @hitcan79 Yeah man, I would probably be nervous at first since its Brian May, my favorite guitarist of all time, but talking to him would be fun.

  • MISS YOU FREEDIE

  • i think he's wearing a 'Flash' t-shirt. nice!

  • Brian is something else. He's always been such a soft-spoken and kind man. I really enjoyed these questions and even though I knew he had suffered of depression, I never knew he was thinking of suicide. That's very sad.

  • Quite possibly one of the most intelligent interviews i've ever seen! Bravo!

  • Anybody else think Brian May looks like Isaac Newton?

  • @huttnerd Yes, I think!

  • Comment removed

  • Next to Jimmy Page, the most intelligent musician.

  • RT It's not Freddy's but Freddie's

  • Who is "genius" news woman has the interview???

  • She is a poor interviewer. Would like to see her interview Leonard Cohen or bob Dylan, they would tie her up in knots. Brian is far too nice.

  • The interviewer had some really personal questions. I'm very impressed with the way May handled himself. Definitely a role model for success weather you play music or not.

  • I'd rather tap Brian than that annoying interviewer.

  • Roads? Where we're going we don't need roads!

  • " May" I say he has the looks an scientific emotions and knowledge to of Isaac Newton??

  • Great to see an intelligent interviewer for a change!

  • he looks so similar to Jimmy Page

  • SOME DAD he was against it but helped him build one of the ROCKINGEST guitar in the world....I just invented a word.

  • News: ethnic tension rise in kosovo as police forces sent to northern border with serbia to enforce import ban imposed last week

  • The only think i dont like about him, is that he belives in god. :)

  • @careerofbeingblue the difference is that I doubt that he wouldn't like you if you don't.

  • @contact1araya Haha, em. Was that what i wrote? That i didnt like him becuase of that? ;) Naaa.. He is still Brian friggin May.

  • @contact1araya hahaha good one lmao

  • What an intelligent interview. The interviewer really knew her stuff. I think Dr. May himself was a bit surprised by the depth of the questions. But as brainy as he is, he gave her good answers. You just can't expect this kind of interview from Keith Richards.

  • Brian, Your spirit knows what your mind is trying to question, or in some way "hide" the Truth of God & the hereafter, Eternity with no more pain or depression, Music that will never cease, rejoicing & enjoying in the God of all Creation. He truly is a gentle, kindhearted, forgiving, wise & humble man; I wish far more "famous" people were as humble & kind as he.

  • The interviewer seems a bit annoying. Brian May rules.

  • yes, i have the same feeling, that we r alone in the universe ..

  • Brian is so humble it almost makes you want to inject some kind of excitable drug into his brain to make him appeciate life. Oh, and the interviewer was hot as shit.

  • @klindred Humility isn't to be confused with unappreciative. He,much more than most rich & successful men, has a very tender-heart, with a meek spirit. Not all rockers are loud & in your face. I loved that he said he was as happy having fish fingers as being wealthy, probably the reason he so easily gives a great deal to various charities; there again unlike most famous, he does so without declaring to the media, waiting for a pat on the back & his picture on the magazine.

  • He wanted to commit suicide!? I never knew and I am so glad we did not lose another Queen member...He is such a nice character that understands a lot of life :D

Keep spreading your wisdom please Brian!

  • LOVE THIS GUY!!! QUEEN FOREVEr!!!!

  • I love the ridiculous updates trying to sum up what he's talking about moment to moment. Also, they basically put words in his mouth. There's just a sort of annoying kind of ignorance to it.

  • I think he's the one of the few people who have more hair the older he gets.

  • @Drumsinstopmotion HAHA. This made me laugh really hard.

  • Love this man so much, wow, would that we could all be so humble, honest and brilliant! :-)

  • ok it may sound the same but its Freddie....

  • he sounds a lot like my guitar teacher :o

  • i didn't know he was an astrophysicist..but it seemed weird to me that he thinks we might be alone. Most-if not all- scientists today are sure there is some form of life somewhere.

  • a great reporter gets great results

  • fuck , he really needs to use 'Just For Men' !!

  • He's so fucking awesome ♥

  • Great man

  • great reporter to!

  • That was probably the most interesting interview with Brian I will ever hear. In a way when you're a Queen fan most of the questions are so "samey" you could almost answer the questions for Brian ! This makes a great change in the usual line of questioning.

  • @10:34 the interviewer refers to Brian as Roger May lol

  • @Carbon657 she says mr may.

  • @shariotoflove ok I stand corrected

  • Brian May and David Gilmour are the greatest guitar players of all times for me.

  • @javierf55 That's so true. And they are gentlemen.

  • I would so love to meet this fascinating, exceptionally talented, compassionate, amazing man.

  • I love how philsophical and wise Brain is. He's such a lovely man and the best guitarist known to mankind.

  • Such a sweet honest guy, felt shocked and sorry 4 him when he wanted 2 commit suicide, love u bri! x

  • That's the way to make an interview: interesting questions, deep themes, unexpected answers. Thanks RT and expecially thanks BRIAN for your SOUL n ART!

  • how come in 2009 he had any gray hair??

  • @LunazulBaraka i think he had grey hair for some time and he uses hair colouring obviously...but i dont think he cares any more.

  • A guitarist with a PhD in Astro physics or something like that... Awesome!

  • The best thing about Brian May is he always picks a side, he wont straddle a line for anyone. Great man.

  • What a genuinely nice man. Most celebrities either act stupid or arrogant during interviews and have this "I'm better than you" attitude about them. I think they need to take notes from this true legend.

  • @ClassicRawkk Brian is a vastly intelligent man, and a deep thinker. He has nothing to prove to anyone. I agree, others should take note and learn to communicate with civility and respect.

  • 8:40 nonono brian!! i bet he listened to "dont try suicide" lol

  • aw is he wearing the flash shirt?

and i really think he should die his hair- he's filthy rich and he's beautiful- i just him to go back to the way he was. the may afro just isn't the same anymore :(

  • gobsmacked by this interview - who would ever think these sort of questions would be asked of lord brian of may? very strange, but so much better than the usual 'brian may of queen' questions. and of course brian is as courteous and thoughtful as ever in giving his thoughts. wonderful

  • he looks like jimmy page now

  • @guithero11 no jimmy looks like him

  • strange to hear such a successful man, that he feel sometimes lonely---o have to learn a lot

  • Im impressed as to how he has maintained the same hairstyle for over 20 years lolololol =P

  • He´s the best! I love him. He´s a great musician and a very great human being, so kind, smart an lovely man. The way that he talk so sweet an peacefull... It makes me fall in love with him. One of the best guitarist in the history of rock and a great scientist. I love for ever Bri! i really love you for ever! With love from Argentina.

  • 30 years later, still rockin' that 80s Jerry Curl

  • who else thought he was gonna say something insulting about the beatles at 07:46...

  • Brian May for Prime Minister!

  • Brian is probably the most intelligent most likable rocker EVER!

  • @Stones77 No Joey Tempest is.

  • @Stones77 yep

  • Finally an inteligent interview :). No more talk about ONLY, how was freddie like or do you still miss freddie. Someone actually did their homework and asked some good questions.

  • i was expecting the same mediocre questions from every other interviewer.....i was wrong!

  • BRIAN IS SMART YOU CAN'T PROVE A NEGATIVE

  • great interview

    love Brian,

    happy nukefree year

    for less cancer

  • I for one am very glad he chose to postpone his phd at the time to make room for the whole Queen thing :-)

  • so clever, so kind, so polite man... i like Brian May for this..... and also for his fabulous music

  • the girl is very good and Brian is BRAIN May, my guitar god #1.

  • Im thankful that he didnt decide to take his own life, not only would it be a huge loss of talent but Freddie would be pissed! Wherever he is! He wanted his friends/family to go on living without him. So well done Brian, glad you got the help you needed.

  • That was a very Russian interview: straignt, sincere with a lot of questions going to the deepest depths of the soul of the one being interviewed.

Boy, that was a conversation in a Russian style!

  • oh my god!!! Brian may is looking so old!!

  • It is so refreshing to see one with a scientific mind who doesn't think he has all the answers and is willing to be open minded and examine the possibilities which is what a scientist should be. He is a brilliant and beautiful human being.. What a great interview!

  • Music is very important for society to move forward. It has a lot of influence on science. If an engineer working on a very fuel efficient engine, for example, and he hears a good Queen song, that can give him an idea or an inspiration for a good solution. Or he hears a dreadful Lady Gaga song and make the worst engine ever lol

  • @sangolt88 Funny you should say that since Brian May recorded "you and I" with lady GaGa. That made my cry a little inside, but I forgave him. Why not... He's to good not to be alowed a mistake :P

  • they spelt Freddie wrong :( hahaha

But ultimately, I absolutely adore Brian May... such an intellectual, caring and talented person.

  • there is a god and his name is brian may.

  • Wow , Brian May is so brilliant!!

  • My, my, she sure had big questions to ask...

Interesting answers though... very interesting ;)

  • Brian is so intelligent I love him even more now :) I think we have much in common and he, as well as Freddie, Roger and John, are really inspirational. Would be great to meet him sometime, though I think I won't :( But I'm only 14, I can dream :)

  • he's a great man, low-profile rockstar!

  • Do you believe in FREDDIE

  • Yikes, Sophie is a great interviewer, hard hitting but not vulger. I like this new generation young ladys who not only are educated, but actualy use there Intelect. Saddest case is Parris Hilton who is actualy realy cunning and brainy, but prefers to have a dim witted persona to be more sellable.

  • I've never met him. He's the one reason why I got into playing the guitar. He's the one reason I got into Queen. He's the one reason why I look up to the guitar as a instrument rather than 1000 notes a second 'device'.

I'll probably never meet Brian May but he'll always be a part of my childhood.

  • This has to be my favourite interview with Brian! I love music and science too so it's great to hear someone like him speak about how they are connected. He's defiantly an inspiration to many people! Thank you Dr. Brian May!

  • Rock on Brian! Love ye!

  • Brilliant interview, and Sophie's brilliant.

BTW, she's Georgian, in fact, granddaughter of Georgia's ex-president Eduard Shevardnadze

  • Great interview! Here's a free quick tour in space for you doc - search for: care2 and tour-the-solar-system-at-near-light-speed-video - if you have the time.

    Love BLJ

  • Brian may is awesome!!! He is very good to listen to, him and David Learmount i could listen to for hours :D.

  • such an intellect. The more time goes on, the more I realize how artistic and talented this band were. They made rock into a pure performance art form. I normally hate Russia Today, but this interviewer is asking some very smart questions.

  • Comment removed

  • I am impressed by the challenging questions posed by the reporter here. You don't see journalism with this depth to it in the american media

  • What a gent - a guitarist with a brain the size of a planet. IMHO the most complete rock guitar player, certainly the most original. And the hair still looking good!

  • Brian May

    Evangelist

  • I could listen to this man for hours! I have so much respect for Dr. May.

  • One of my fav interviews for the last few years.

  • Far out he looks like Jimmy Page with white hair!!

  • @Kidrocker000 Umm Jimmy has white hair tooooo

  • @Sakuya727 Thats kinda what i meant.... fail

  • @Kidrocker000 It's not a fail when you made it sound like you thought that Jimmy still has black hair.... you were kinda misleading.

  • @Sakuya727 But when its a video of brian may, who hair im obviously talking about, its rather stupid to assume what you did, when page hasnt had black hair in years.

  • @Kidrocker000 Jimmy had black hair in the 90's which is not toooo long ago. & so it's not stupid what I assumed....

  • great to hear an intelligent, educated musician speak... "Brain" May is great! :)

  • such an incredible, intelligent man <3

  • Richard Dawkins is a self absorbed quack who thinks himself as too important and brighter than he is in reality... He could learn a thing or two with Brian May, such as being humble and keep and open mind to all scientific possibilities.

  • YOU CAN WRITE IN ITALIAN??????? PLEASEEEE!!!!

  • hes the man. one of the most legendary guitarists, but also has a PhD in astrophysics

  • i hate interviewers like this who think they know everything about the person they're interviewing just because they did their research. i don't know about you, but if someone said " was it because you dropped out and your father was mad at you" like bitch, don't narrate my life. i know what happened.

  • @RadioCity96 I thought it had been only me who felt the same. She looks so arrogant and full of herself. She still has a lot to learn on her attitude towards human relations and humility. But time will tell her.

  • Comment removed

  • I don't know what both of you are smoking, but do go fuck yourselves.

    Brian looked interested enough.

  • my lord, he looks old.

  • All I know is that I don't know anything - Socrates .

  • honestly, I loved Brian in this interview, but I felt the interviewer was trying too hard to be faux-deep. she also was making minimal eye-contact, which gave me the impression that she was reading off of something.

  • None of you guys seem to really get it. Although I tend not to believe there is a God, how can anyone say they 'know' there is no God? So many of you, including Richard Dawkin, (who people seem to love quoting), don't 'know' anything. Although making some leaps forward in the recent centurys we are all just starting to paddle in the great ocean of truth. All I know is that I know nothing.

  • great interview, but the headlines that are under the interview are ridiculous!

'who do you think would be a high priest in the 21st century?'

'oh wow, high priest.. hmmm .. (much deliberation).. i guess Mandela..'

ROCK LEGEND: I SEE NELSON MANDELA AS 'HIGH PRIEST' OF 21ST CENTURY

  • Flash t-shirt. Legend.

  • Attention Fox News: This is how one properly conducts an interview.

  • When I saw " Brian May to RT" I though RT meant Roger Taylor. God, I'm really obssessed. -.-

  • yes thank you brian

  • I have to sadly admit I am only looking into brian may because brendon small said brian was his biggest influence. Now I love me some queen, always have.... but I guess I took them for granted. It's something I grew up hearing, my dad picked the music. queen, deep purple, and rush stuck with me most, but this guy really is amazing. Also, my dad kicks ass. And fuck radio disney. bring your kids up right

  • Great interviewer!

  • Whatever they say about science or religion I still regard Brian may as my favorite guitarist & a huge influence not just in music but as a person with a high level of intelligence.

  • @fairyfellermaster itsinfinitelybetter than trying to converse with ignorance

  • They spelled Freddie wrong -_-

  • live Here.

  • The connection between science, mathematics, and music is quantum physical. The atomic waves created by the oscillations of sound waves can be analyzed precisely using the theory of relativity, the standard model, superstring theory, and vector analysis a mathematical descriptive tool for every particle in the universe and their interactions with each other including us and sound. That's why music is a universal language that speaks to us beyond words:)

  • @Odinfinnson you can also analyse the body of a human being with science but you could never analyze its soul. In the same matter you could never analize music as a proyection of the human soul with physics.

PD: Spanish is my native language... sorry about the spelling or wathever

  • @Odinfinnson Exactly - and it changes even DNA.

  • I'm speakless. Really good Questions, sometimes i was a little bit scared and thought " what will he answer". He was very honest, a real human. Thank you "Russia Today", the best Interview i've seen with Dr. May. I remember an Interview with Brian from a Dutch-TV-Station in 2005. The Interviewer was so stupid an really wasted his time. My Son shaked Brian's hand, i met him 3 Times. He is really friendly and good human. Wish him and the peole around him a long and nice Life. Thanks to RT

  • Is it just me or does this chick look like she wants to f*ck the shit out of the guy haha

  • The world needs more measured, honest, thoughtful, humble people like Brain right now.
