  • I thought salt come from sea

  • @japinoboysf salt is naturally made on rocks, that's why you can see animals licking rocks.

  • Why do they need to mine something that is so freely available in the ocean?

  • @JustinFromSydney it's cheaper to mine the salt in this form, than to build, operate and maintain a desalinisation plant....it's also a different chemical form of salt.

  • And i thought that minecraft mining was hard lol

  • the losers thought they got it, but didnt, the winner fucks em all. i try to emphasize do that.

  • @onceigoblack *on

  • @IAWushu:

Salt raises the boiling temp of water, not lower it. It raises the boiling temperature of water the same way antifreeze in your radiator raises the boiling temperature and lowers the freezing temperature. Look it up.

  • some times my boss lets us shoot it with machine guns

  • if theirs salt in the air, why don't they all wear breathing masks because that cant be good for they're lungs

  • can i get some of that on my pizza?

  • I got nervous watching this, I was so afraid that whole thing was gonna collapse.

  • salt is sooo useful. intensifies fire, lowers temp required for boiling water, disinfectant.. edible.. catalystic... huh what type of salt the ones in the videos? considering "salt" is a category that a lot of elements fall under.

  • This is where the weapons of mass destruction are hidden.

  • @TrollinIsTheGame thats mature

  • @TrollinIsTheGame Troll wannabe lol

  • shit thats good

  • A few years back a coal used the same mining method, the pillars were too weak and the giant mine caved and it caused a minor earthquake when it fell!!!!

  • i hope they get paid well, that shits dangerous

  • @kingdjay13 AMEN

  • it's one of the highest paying careers nowadays. 80k+ a year.

  • I guess now you know where to find the saltiest men.

  • hahahahhahahaha thats mad fuuny (the sprint commral

  • @sisubilly me too

  • that shit is crazy

i'd be scared to go down there

  • use salt for thermo energy storage in a hot and col silo, pump fluid down a half moon array of mirrors, heat the fluid, heat the molten salt.

turbines transition fluid ultimately at a rate of energy loss per dollar lower than peak energy usage, boom son.

  • Is that the salt we eat?

  • I guess you could say they earn their salt.

  • HAAAA

  • This is just rock salt so blowing it up with diesel fuel wouldn't matter, because this is just the stuff you throw on the ground when it snows.

Food salt is just a portion of the salt that is mined and then they purify it to remove anything in it.

  • It made me thirsty from the beginning. Diesel fuel in my salt. Yummy. How many explosions would you trust the salt pillars to hold up to. Paranoia salt destroya. It wouldn't matter how much water you drank. You would always be thirsty. And it would always taste salty. Next on vid pepper mines. Or sneezing yourself to live. They blow up pepper plants with diesel fuel. Leaving 300 tons of pure rock pepper.

  • that's on hell of a huge watch that boy is wearing. these room and pillar miners are messing with forces they don't understand. the earth will retaliate for their wanton robbery and pillaging of its salty goodness.

  • Google "oversized wrist watch" if you like the big watch.

  • Imagine working there with a large wound. lol

  • Yep, and you know, if an indian owned it, just because hes indian.

  • someone's bitter...

  • you tube==gonza51045==

  • mmmm salty!

  • mining is dangerous job

  • when are you bringing back that show deconstructed?

  • I can't forget our business back to the Philippines end-up with somebody reclaimed to it, supposedly "The Land is mine". Instead, my father helplessly given to them: The Land all yours...Anyways, I'm here now to the "Land of Milk and Honey": The grain pasture is ours.:)

  • @PRAYDOM: Marcopper Mining?

  • Thanks, and how do you know!?

  • @PRAYDOM: My dad sold heavy mining equipment to Marcopper Mining before he (and my mom) left for the 'States. I'm the only one remaining here in Manila.

    :)

  • Why, when you gonna come?

  • @PRAYDOM: Sometime late December.

  • what state, if you don't mind?!

  • @PRAYDOM: Tennessee.

  • Comment removed

  • SEXY :)

  • Atleast they don't work in the acid mines. My job sucks.

  • Rock Salt with Mangoes or Dalandan! :)

  • If they are so deep how does the cave not collapse, is there any warning systems etc?

  • They space out the pillars to take the weight of the roof. think Moria. A whole bunch of pillars in key areas will keep that ceiling up for ages.

Warning systems... brobably a big BANG if anything cracks that's not supposed to.

  • How much refinement, if any, did salt get before it got on to store shelves before modern refinement practices?

  • As long as that salt ends up on my popcorn (Along with butter), im happy.

  • Salt, Explosions, all we need now is some beer, football, and boobs and this is a man's world!

  • cant forget, any type of barbecued meat, besides chicken of course

  • well, back to the salt mines

  • mmnnm salt, rock salt. Id like one with mi pretzel pleASE!

  • Just one? One grain?

  • cMagic1: "There are only 2 ways of living, one is nothing is a miracle, 2 is everything is a miracle, I choose the latter." --- Albert Einstein

  • I remember the good old days when "How Its Made" was on Discovery Channel. :}

  • watch the science channel, it's basically the how it's made channel.

  • Much of Detroit, MI and some of its surrounding suburbs are catacombed with old salt mines and ones that are still active. Some of the old spend salt mines are used to store the records of the Big Three automakers because the salt environment acts as a preservative and kills off bacteria that would degrade data tapes and papers over time.

  • "it's just a fertilizer" ???

  • there's a little place that lies south of the border, you go there once you've been there twice.

  • at the rate that they are blowing up and shipping out the rock salt, I wonder how long before the resource is mined-up and they have to go find another one?

  • it says dry slat mining, but is there a such thing as wet salt mining? jw

  • Yes, places like the salt lake in Utah.

  • sea salt?:D

  • they are referring to the fact that the salt is solidified already. Salt beds, such as in Peru, Bolivia in south America would be considered "wet mines." But they are just commonly referred as salt beds. hope this helped.

    cheers.

  • Yep. The Great Salt Lake and the Dead Sea are both wet salt "mines". Much of the sea salt people consume comes from them.

  • Is salt dead things? O_O

  • no its sodium and chlorine chemically combined together.

  • @sXeish

    It is prehistoric fish pee.

  • @Tr3buchetK1ng

Read the book Salt A world History.

    By Mark Kurlansky

  • An excellent read!

  • @Tr3buchetK1ng yeah just ignore my comment above, that was a little bit dumb

  • wow i dittent know they make salt from rocks.

  • You guys are arguing about salt... wow

  • 300tons, thats no peanuts

  • Im pretty sure this whole "salt" mining business cost lives.

  • So, table salt's got diesel in it. Nice......

  • No it's ROCK salt. This is what they use for winter time on roads.

  • Comment removed

  • The salt from the sea is a different chemical than the rock salts that they are mining.

  • Comment removed

  • If they blast too much, which for their own safety, they won't do. To put this in perspective, you can tour the salt mines in Austria that are hundreds of years old. And you can drive through whole mountains on multilane highways in Switzerland. Now if they were to strip mine this stuff, you would have a much larger impact on the surrounding environment. Also sea salt collection does disturb the ecosystem of the oceans to a similar extent, (which is not very much).

  • Uh...no. Try taking a chemistry class, and not sleeping through it. NaCl, sodium chloride, is the same salt molecule, whether it comes from underground mines or the sea. Please don't open your mouth if you don't know what you are talking about.

  • soulharvest, unless manufactured in a lab, it is rarely pure NaCl. It is the other elements in the salt that make a difference. And yes, they process the salt that ends up on your table either way, but they keep alot of those other elements in the salt. This means they have a different chemical make-up. Take a materials class. (It is the next level up from chemistry.)

  • There's no possible way anyone could have discerned that that's what you meant from your original comment: "The salt from the sea is a different chemical than the rock salts." Take a communication skills class.

  • I didn't state anything wrong. If you notice, I was replying to another commenter on here. I'm sorry if you didn't understand, but I wasn't posting for your benefit. You had no need to insult me and continue to not have any need to insult me for your own ignorance.

  • yes put some more regulations on them so they will not be able to mine anymore.

    ya pathetic tree hugging bastard

  • you can suck the salt off my penis

  • LOL

  • how is it fake?
