  • Brilliant.

  • What glass did you use?

  • Nice I really like ....amazing color and dof

i will put this on the wish list.

  • a short film written, shot, and post produced in 8 days to promote the new Sony 35mm digital camera PMW-F3...with a little help from my friends...

All natural light, only two shots lit using kinoflo single 60...

    I was using good old Zeiss G.O. series 35mm, 50mm & 85mm T1.4...

  • the idea was to shoot as light as possible, I took only the camera body and a manfrotto carbon tripod (no display, no cables),

so I was recording onboard on SxS cards XDCAMEX 4.2.0

    @ 35 Mb.

  • As the film was projected in HDCAMsr i went through a high end workflow:

Editing in native XDCAM on fcp, export in XDCAM,

XDCAM to Dpx conversion using Shake (as we noticed the fcp XDCAM to prores conversion was not very good),

Dpx color-grading using Eclair Laboratory home made software "Colorus".

I hope this helps, thank you for your interest...tom.

P.S. some on set pictures could be seen here bonhomme-lefilm dot blogspot

  • what lenses?

  • who ever is responsable for this short film should be damn awarded, is just too beautiful

  • In five years max the quality of phone videos will be comparable to this.

  • @superabdoulworld I kind of doubt it, unless the phone videos are shot by trained and creative camera operators (the fundamental key to nice video), and the phones have a set of $1500 lenses built-in.

  • @famousPhotog You dont know how technology works do you?

  • @superabdoulworld Why don't you spell it out for me?

  • @famousPhotog If you look at the quality of videos in phones 5 years ago, you will see that they were barely qvga quality, and those were high end phones. Now you have 1080p or 720p minimum in smartphones. Also keep in mind technology is evolving at such an exponential rate that in 5 years we will have made more progress than we have in 15 years. So I really wouldn't be surprised to see quality compared to this video in phones in about 5 years.

  • @superabdoulworld I agree that the technical quality of video coming from phones now is better than it was 5 years ago. However, light must travel from subject to sensor through a lens. So even though sensor technology may improve, the tiny cheap lenses in phones are not going to resolve like the lenses used in this video. Then we have the everything-in-focus DOF issue due to the use of tiny sensors in phones. Furthermore, most people using phones for video are not ASC camera operators.

  • @superabdoulworld In other words, even if it were possible to make phones capable of producing this video quality, most people walking around with phones do not have the creative talent and expertise to produce a video of this quality. In fact, most of the videos on YouTube are garbage. A great phone is not going to change that.

  • @famousPhotog Yeah I wasnt talking about the cinematography of the video. I was talking about the quality of the picture. Of course you need some expertise to shoot a video like this.

  • @superabdoulworld Well, then surely you would have to agree that the "quality of the picture" has at least some connection to the operator's ability to select the proper camera settings, the proper use of lighting, the proper utilization of steadicams and follow-focus, etc., etc., etc. Overall, I think the odds of us seeing a video equal in quality to this video coming from a phone is fairly remote, and if we did, it would probably be coming from a creative cinematographer.

  • Amazing! I love the texture and quality of the images.Fantastic!Great little story as well. This camera does great in low lighting.Bravo!

  • aaaaaaaw made me cry :)

  • Well done, but it was fairly creepy as well...
