  • Poor people. I have a film showing forging of railroad wheels in a Swedish plant in 1917. The workers had better equipment in 1917 than these guys have now, and the productivity was something like ten times higher than this. It only took them a minute or so to forge a railroad rim with flange. In those days the rims where crimped on a center with forged spokes. That took another four or five minutes. The forging press served about four or five crimping stations.

  • is this a WHEEL for a train ?

  • So,this is how enamel plates are made!

  • That was mesmerizing.

  • Bang Bang Bang Bang Bang Bang Bang Bang Bang Bang Bang Bang Bang Bang Bang Bang... I like the rythum. What would I use the ring for? A wagon wheel? A big basket ball hoop? A wedding ring for a big girl? A hoola hoop? (too heavy) I think I'd just like to see it rolled down a big hill.

  • With this hammering sound you can make a new theme of Command and Conquer Hell march 4 ;-)

  • I wanna see someon touching it xD

  • you treat that block of metal with such care

  • I can't quite make out the Elvish runes...

  • @shades2

One Ring to Rule them all.

    One Ring to Find them.

One Ring to Bring them all,

And in the Darkness Bind them.

  • You spelled manufacturing in the title wrong! =P

  • bs 525

  • This video gives me an appreciation of the easy job I have.

  • its funny how they all work to the beat... "hi ho, hi ho, off to work we go"

  • that's the one ring that rules them all created for Sauron itself !

  • Just leave it as a big ring?

  • its a ring for giants

  • talk about time consuming!!...where I work we could run a job like that in 2 minutes.

  • wtf ? three men working on that? made in germany?

  • I feel compelled to throw that into a lake and watch it warp!

  • it you close ur eyes its sounds like an optimus prime porno bap bap bap bap bap bap bap

  • been working with hydraulic press machines for steel manufacturing for over 10 years, i enjoy my work but sometimes it's really dangerous if even i take safety as # 1 rule.

few years ago, i had to pick up a couple of fingers from the floor cause my buddy put his fingers in the press machine, i fuckin saw how he lost his fingers, damn it, nice machines but dangerous too!

  • dam dude that looks fun but hard

  • Is this Chuck Norris hula hoop manufacturing process?

  • @cienwcieniachcieni hahaha Im glad to see Chuck is invading metallurgy too. Best lol of the day, you just gave me!

  • "Hey, get rhythm when you get the blues..."

  • tok tok tok tok tok tok!

  • The hammer is a bit small for that job, but they do alright with it, Makin' a paycheck....

  • i think they are using the brooms to increase liking too the cold climate sport of curling, "hurray, hard!" the brooms are keeping the blob hot!

  • @emigrantgap Brooms or high speed air /steam jets are used to remove the oxide scale as it builds up during the work process. Otherwise it will be driven into the steel, and adulterate the finished blank.

  • imagine putting ur dick there..

  • What is the size of that hammer? Im gettin pissed just watching it. lol. Taking way to long, I had a 5000lb and I woulda been screamin to hit the damn thing already.

  • What would happen if you put your head in between the molten block and the press?

  • all that to make one donut? no wonder krispy kreme is so expensive

  • @abe2ham @abe2ham HAHA 'cept this donut prolly' costs about $1,000 after machining =)) WTF R they making a bearing or what?

  • This is probably in-humane work.

  • @TheWordCenterChurch At least it keeps 3 people employed, and probably from starving...

  • whatever the hell that thing is going to be, its sure as hell gonna be strong.

  • I love this Vid that hammer sound is groovy.

But what a crap place to work, too much risk of going deaf or going up in smoke.

Great to see how it's done though.

  • damn, it's fucking hot if u stay near the smelling iron like this guys.....so amazing....i can't image the blacksmith make alot of sword and amor in the acient world....

  • they are making human brain.

  • The one ring to rule them all

  • I used to watch guys do just that same thing over near 16th and Central in Cicero Illinois at a small place called Scot Fordge.

  • ummm...you guys burnt my steak

  • absolutely amazing!!!!

  • How long does it stay orange

  • i fell into a burning ring of fire....

  • Had an Great-Uncle by Marriage who worked at the Johnson Bronze Co. in New Castle, PA. back in the 1950's, and during a factory tour one of those presses came down on his hand.

  • @SaxonBrit Did it hurt him?

  • damn you guys really deserve a high pay... Tough as hell job. Great stuff!

  • Lord of the Rings !

  • why aren't they singing with that crazy beat, hell I watched this for 10 minutes and I got the beat stuck in my head.

  • what is that again?

  • This called team work, they team work very well! Great!

  • Its on the wonk.... lol

  • They should put a turner on the top compressor it would reduce the amount of time and level the wheel out better.

  • It appears this forge is located in India. Lots of manual manipulation. I've been in a ring forge facility with German equipment where there was very little material handling. Likely, even with all the automated equipment, I imagine the Indian facility still maintains a significant cost advantage due to lower labor rates and minimal environment and legal constraints.

  • @schratboy Not 2 mention the machine in Germany costs about half a million dollars, whereas the machines they R using cost a few thousand =))

  • @Deathrape2001 I worked in a foundry in Auburn, NY that used a 500 ton press and could make a ring just like that one in a quarter the time it took them. They pay for themselves when your able to sell thousands of rings a month in comparision to hundreds.

  • Great video. The sounds make it feel like you're standing right next to the hammer.

  • It is very interesting to see how machinery used to be made before casting and machining. What I want to know is who is running the drop hammer and how does it work?

  • if this is in india most of the equipment will still be what the british left behind after they gave india its independance.

  • Do you really think so? Everyone wants to buy the latest machinery but pocket restraint does not allow that. Every industry has to move in steps. When these guys earn money, they shall put up better than what you could expect and not because the british left them something. British took a lot more than you could think of.

  • If not machinery that was left behind, machinery that was shipped out of the UK when they shut down and stripped every single forge/mill/works etc in the UK,some of this old machinery turns up in the most unlikely places, some of it still running after 100 years! There have been a few preservation trusts in the UK who have had to ship machinery/engines back to the UK from all over the world as every single piece was sold or scrapped here.

  • @silver760 HAHA true the only thing white countries make N E more is weapons 2 force the slaves abroad 2 keep building our $hit =))

  • @pksalwan '... can think of.' not 'could'.

  • @pksalwan Oh here we go again - another "KILL WHITEY!" troll. Without England, India would B infinitely more backward than it is. They modernized them significantly & all U do is bich. Maybe U should shut off your computer & electricity, etc - that's white technology 2!

  • @Deathrape2001 Every stupid thinks that he is a great philospher. Keep it up, youngman. May be that through these words you can satisfy your ego. No need of being so proud of your white language, white skin and white blood. Everyone feels proud of his comminity and race, a few bark of it and rest live politely to make it better and add new discoveries and nice deeds to their ancestoral glory. Every french is not Napoleon but if they feel so, let them feel it.

  • @pksalwan Bla bla troll-tard. Everything I say is true & U know it. No point reading your useless BS rant.

  • nice chunk

    of hot

  • i want to see the forge they heated that up with!!!

  • That ring is prolly gonna end up as a wheel for one of those railroad cars or locomotives that they build in India. A more efficient and productive way to build it is to use ring rolling machines.

  • Geez, imagine how much time/energy is used in the process to make one train wheel multiplied by how many it takes for one average train...

Boggles the mind how much energy and raw materials are wasted just moving things or people from point A to point B.

Is pretty cool how that steel blank stays white hot so long.

  • what are they making? or what will it be used for?

  • WOW!! What a primitive way of making that steel ring. I guess with so many people in china, they have to make sure they use all the manpower up with no unemployment. I retired from a forge shop and I can honestly say that in the amount of time they made that one ring, we would of had 10 to 15 made and our equipment wasnt modern at all. just bigger hammers with dies cut as close as possible to the to the customers specifications. When cooled they were machined to precision.

  • that funny you say hahaha, really primitive mold ha ha ha

  • Couldn't you just take a good bar of iron and bend it to a ring... Obviously you wanted highest possible quality ring, for what? Tell us already

  • well, you then would have to forge weld the ends together, something that was done in the 100 years a go in industrial forges, but is just to labour intensive now.

  • for decoration, of course!

  • @hurjaheikki if you would bend a bar, you would have to close it with a welding seam, which is very unstable (only 60 to 80% of the rest of the ring). If you need a custom made "closed" ring without any seam you HAVE to forge it.

  • molten marshmello lol

  • GOOD one from blank to ring

  • What are we making today gentlemen.

  • @mortson978 a ring..........

  • Bravo! I like the measuring tools. Simple and effective. Great show.

  • cool!

  • lord of the ring

  • giant ones!

  • That's great...but..what is it? :D Thanks
